"he was just a singer"???? who gives a SHIT if someone writes a song?!!! any shmo can write a song...singers is what EVERYONE looks at and what touches people more than anything...sinatra might not have had the smoothest voice but there is no peer in comparison to raw emotion and the conveying of that emotion in the highest artistic way possible. NO ONE comes close to sinatras voice. the man sings a song written for a black man (ol man river) and conveyed it better than any black man ever did.
He crossed boundaries NO ONE else did then or since. He was one extraordinary human being with extraordinary talents we are not likely to witness for another 100 years (maybe).
MJ was a lip-synching child molester who had one or two songs that were "okay", to put him in the same category as Sinatra is an insult to every musician everywhere
blah, blah, blah. You know nothing about music. Yes, MJ was accused of child molestation, but wasn't FS accused of raping a young women in his time. I guess you'll deny that, seeing as he's YOUR hero.
Seeing as he was not yes he might deny it... They were both great to different types of music MJ was ACCUSED not CONVIVTED there is no evidence he did so why make an assumption you don;t know is true
As far as talent goes, NO ONE is in the same league as MJ, unless you mean as a group the Beatles. Frank Sinatra didn't even write his own songs. He was just a singer.
The irony of you talking about something being an insult when you're making false claims about an entertainer of which you will never in your life have any proof of so you need to be quiet.
R.I.P Frank Sinatra.... yes Michael Jackson is good, but Frank Sinatra was the first to wear the crown of the King of Pop. Then it was passed down, and eventually made it to Jackson.... yet there may be Kings, only one legend can remain, and that is Frank Sinatra.

Ha ha! Lennon wrote music, some of the greatest songs of the century, of the history of pop music. Snortra was a singing parrrot. I am sad that no one assasinated him..he deserved it for hanging on so long and inflicting his "art" on all of us (as well as the demented old farts)
Well "guys and..dolls"..Everybody dies..I wish i could escape somehow from death and take some time more to live..just a decade more..anyways..FAS still remains in the business because his art sounded, looked and felt as one of the main representatives of all human expressions of life in a mankind's world. He was sharp in singing..he didn't offcourse had managers to improve his image, simply because he created the mentality of having a strong image.
I just don't remember much about Frank's passing, other than my ex signing the online condolence book. I was having health problems at the time, and 1998 is a blur. I feel bad about that. But I believe the best way to honor him is through his music, which is all I want to listen to these days. I hear one song, and thing it's the greatest thing ever, then I find another one I like better!
Yes, he did have trouble with the annullment. In "the old days," Nancy, Sr. had to sign papers, and consistently refused to do so, but with the "new, improved Catholic church," yes, he bought his way into it - without Nancy's signature on anything. He hurt alot more people than DiMaggio, but I think he helped thousands more than he hurt. At any rate, I remember the ridiculous annullment, and consider it a prime example of a good reason to get out of Roman Catholicism.
I'm an Irish-American, and he made ME proud. He's up there with Dean and Sammy...trying to get the Angel's to pour the Communion wine a bit on the heavy side.
My mother was a huge fan of his & listened to his albums all the time. My brothers & I grew up with his music & can remember all the songs. I can't hear a Sinatra song without thinking of being a kid & hearing my mother singing along. One of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century. RIP Francis Albert.

I just came across this video and he truly was the greatest male singer EVER. He was my father's favorite singer and mine also. I was reared on Sunday mnorning Sinatra!

3 years later. On May 21 2001, there was a biography of Sinatra. Famous people were interviwed Seth MacFarlane, Frankie Valli, Emmy Rossum,Howard McGillin and others. Special guest interviews Dizzy Gillespie in 1988. Of course Dizzy's biography was a night after sinatra's biography. I absolutely love this video
The night Frank went to the Big Casino in the Sky, his kids could not be reached to notify them of his pending death. They were all glued to the tube watching the final episode of "Seinfeld" -- all their pagers and phones were turned off.
The reason why his kids could not be reached by phone was because that witch wife of his, Barbara Marx, had not wanted them called. She wanted to be alone with him when he died. The kids should have been there, but due to her selfishness, they weren't there. Barbara Marx tarnished Sinatra's relationship with his kids, as well as wanted his money. She was a GOLD DIGGER, and a master manipulator to him. He never should have married her. Miss Marx will pay the price eventually for her selfishness
It's amazing that Sinatra's music is STILL being listened to after all this time. But what is even MORE impressive is that record labels still produce CDs - "Nothing But The Best" came out this year. "Classical" music is technically any music that will remain popular forever; if Sinatra's music isn't classical, I honestly don't know what is!
I was 11 years old when he passed away and I didn't know him very well that time.
Nowadays, I deeply regret: I couldn't have seen Frank Sinatra singing. If he were alive today, I'd pay hundreds of dollars to have that opportunity. He'll be the greatest forever.
hard to beleave that 10 yrs have passed since he left us. he was simply the BEST.he will live forever as long as his music is here. rip,you were just simply the best ever...
5:00- Only Mr. Sinatra could be cool enough to just come into a room, sit down, start singing, and be completely unphased by the applause. Rest in Peace, sir. I hope you and the boys are having a ball in heaven.
you shouldnt be that sad Sinatra died he was connected to the Mafia and the Mafia was part of killing JFK so in a not long string Frank Sinatra is part of killing JFK
Frank Sinatra was anything BUT a racist. He was very active in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's/60's and supported African-American civil rights all the way. Anyone who says that should absolutely read up on Sinatra and what a caring yet powerful man he really was.
That's a less than a joke mothaf* who'd say anything so idiotic, NYCBG -- pay it no mind. Some people JUST don't know how truly cool this man was as a human being, unquestionably.
That's why he became the ULTIMATE "HOLLYWOOD Godfather," to me; it's 'cause I've always understood he was the man to call when something -- anything -- needed to be straightened between parties.
I saw this one night. Because I had been listening to his music since I turned 3. I adored his voice when I first heard. My grandma and I listened to Sinatra all the time when I came home from school or Camp O Fun.
When my older son turned 17 last year we bought him Frank's CD of "A Very Good Year". Frank was my father's favorite singer. We told my son it was a gift from his grandfather, who died in 2000. I'm watching this now with tears in my eyes.
Anyone who says that Frank was a racist deserves to be banned from all websites for a year! Not only is it dumb it is insulting. He is the one white singer who did more for jazz than legions before and after him...
a racist???? don't be fucking ridiculous...he paved the way for black singers to perform in vegas..infact he refused to play unless sammy, lena , ella etc could play there..end of!!!
Frank would chuckle at the irony ABC breaking in to Richard Lewis talking about told men getting it up. Viagra had just become a phenomenon in May 1998 when FS died.
Yeah I still feel horrible about it.. I mean it didn't really hit me till recently.. I read his bio on Wikipedia and I cried my eyes out at the end of it.. So sad... Love you Frankie! His last words are said to be "I'm losing.." :'(
A racist?! God knows that he went to bat for lots of black artists in Las Vegas so that they can stay at the places they had their gigs at! You should get your facts straight buddy!!
Proof: "On January 27, 1961, Sinatra played a benefit show at Carnegie Hall for Martin Luther King, Jr. and would go on to play a major role in the desegregation of Nevada hotels and casinos in the 1960s. Sinatra led his fellow members of the Rat Pack and label-mates on Reprise in refusing to patronize hotels and casinos that wouldn't allow black singers to play live or wouldn't allow black patrons. Sinatra would often speak from the stage on desegregation."
Hopefully, you had time to read up on Sinatra and discover that he was not a racistist or anything of the sort. I am black and have wondered about certain white entertainers of that era, but Sinatra is one that was not a racist. He was a member of the NAACP and according to his daughter, Tina, Sammy Davis was his closest friend, not Dean Martin as everyone seem to guess. I would give you one credit; he did have ties to the Mob, but not in the way Sinatra-haters would assume.
we are not always lucky enough,to live in the same time as a great singing or film star,mr sinatras music gave me so much plesure, and happiness,he had a song for every mood, his music was truly magical, thank you for leaveing the world, such a lovely gift, your music.

Sinatra may have died without Jesus in his heart but Darin died WITHOUT a HEART! On top of that! Darin was a fucking hippy and deserved to die anyway!
Darin had more talent than Sinatra ever had and you dam well know it. How dare you say someone should die because they are a "Hippy". Bobby Darin stood up for what he believed and knew what was right and what was going whilst the governement lied. Sinatra didn't do that- because he was just a made-in-hollywood manufactured guy- unlike Darin.
How do you know? that's between Frank and God! It's not your right to judge people's spirituality based on their life. Frank was a great man, and Jesus knew that. Yes he made bad decisions, but we all do every single day of our lives! Who knows, maybe he died without Jesus, or maybe he died WITH Jesus, thats not your call
That is not your call to make! That's between Jesus and Frank. You can't judge other's spirituality based on what you see, if that was the case, we'd all go to hell. You cant say Frank's in hell. Jesus knows that Frank was a great man, who sinned, just like you and me, he doesnt shun anyone out, thats why he died for us. Who knows, maybe Frank died without Jesus, or maybe he died WITH Jesus, thats just not your call to make

These days are just sad, everything has to be about racism.
Elvis nor Sinatra were Racist. They are just from an age where people werent so damn sensitive
They say we've come a ways, & in some ways we have.
But in other ways, people have never been more ignorant
Its like w/ Don Rickles. One of the most kindest people you could ever meet. He lived to make people laugh and loved all
Not a hateful bone in his body
And its too disrespect to bring that up and yell racism on this video
RIP Frank

Sinatra wa a real American origianl.
If you listen to his genre he was easily well above the others such as Dean martin, Perry Como, Bing Crosby or Eddie Fisher ect.
I wouldn't call him the best male voclasit ever but easily he is one of the top 5 and
# 1 in his genre.
To say that hank Williams SR was any less of a country singer, or Elvis Presley was any less of a Pop/Rock singer would be unfair.

5:00- Only Mr. Sinatra could be cool enough to just come into a room, sit down, start singing, and be completely unphased by the applause. Rest in Peace, sir. I hope you and the boys are having a ball in heaven.

Frank Sinatra was anything BUT a racist. He was very active in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's/60's and supported African-American civil rights all the way. Anyone who says that should absolutely read up on Sinatra and what a caring yet powerful man he really was.

"Anyone who says that Frank was a racist..."

He is the one white singer who did more for jazz than legions before and after him...

a racist???? don't be fucking ridiculous...he paved the way for black singers to perform in vegas..infact he refused to play unless sammy, lena , ella etc could play there..end of!!!
peeteeclark 4 years ago 4
Frank would chuckle at the irony ABC breaking in to Richard Lewis talking about told men getting it up. Viagra had just become a phenomenon in May 1998 when FS died.

he was mafia and a racist i dont know why ppl like him that much,
mohadino 4 years ago
A racist?! God knows that he went to bat for lots of black artists in Las Vegas so that they can stay at the places they had their gigs at! You should get your facts straight buddy!!
Hellhouse 4 years ago 3
Proof: "On January 27, 1961, Sinatra played a benefit show at Carnegie Hall for Martin Luther King, Jr. and would go on to play a major role in the desegregation of Nevada hotels and casinos in the 1960s. Sinatra led his fellow members of the Rat Pack and label-mates on Reprise in refusing to patronize hotels and casinos that wouldn't allow black singers to play live or wouldn't allow black patrons. Sinatra would often speak from the stage on desegregation."
Hellhouse 4 years ago 4
Hopefully, you had time to read up on Sinatra and discover that he was not a racistist or anything of the sort. I am black and have wondered about certain white entertainers of that era, but Sinatra is one that was not a racist. He was a member of the NAACP and according to his daughter, Tina, Sammy Davis was his closest friend, not Dean Martin as everyone seem to guess. I would give you one credit; he did have ties to the Mob, but not in the way Sinatra-haters would assume.

Sinatra may have died without Jesus in his heart but Darin died WITHOUT a HEART! On top of that! Darin was a fucking hippy and deserved to die anyway!
TLAGT 4 years ago

FatManGroupAndHippie 3 years ago
That is not your call to make! That's between Jesus and Frank. You can't judge other's spirituality based on what you see, if that was the case, we'd all go to hell. You cant say Frank's in hell. Jesus knows that Frank was a great man, who sinned, just like you and me, he doesnt shun anyone out, thats why he died for us. Who knows, maybe Frank died without Jesus, or maybe he died WITH Jesus, thats just not your call to make
