I am sorry, but why would Amy want to talk to her stupid family? I understand when you fall from other relligions and your family does not talk to you. Supposely a higher being forbiddes them from doing so. But here is the liders of a non higher being believes telling a person or to people they can not talk to their families. I would not blame this on the scientology but her parents.
