i just finished reading your description and you're totally right about 5x08. omg, peyton's making the biggest sacrifice for lucas. but i have complete and utter faith that he will wake up and realize that he needs to dump lindsey and get with peyton again. i mean he only proposed to lindsey because she found the ring (peyton's ring!!) and he was thinking of peyton while lying in bed which is definitely proof enough that he loves her and omg that quote said it all! excellent job once again!!
