I was at the grocery store the other day, and I was so pleasantly surprised to here this song playing. It was hard to hear since I wasn't directly under a speaker, but I started singing with it. It's always great to hear anything from The Lettermen. I have several of their albums still from years ago. Thanks for posting!
@Beautifulmusiclistnr WOW! Wish our grocery stores (or any other store) had sense and taste enough to play this sort of material! Thanks for the great story!
@lettermen1 Believe me, I was just as shocked as you were. However, they have played some oldies there in the past. So, maybe I shouldn't have been so shocked. I guess that's what happens when you go Krogering! lol Thanks for posting this song. I'm listening to "I Believe" as I write this note. Classic Lettermen and always Always enjoyable. God Bless!
This is close to 4-part harmony Barbershop music, which is actually growing in popularity among many young singers like myself. It's just so much more musical and carries so much more emotion!
I LOVE The Lettermen. I'm 18, and my dad got me turned on to The Lettermen and Frankie Valli and the like. Honestly, this is much better than 90% of the crap made today.
Phil..my friend is listening to this on her cd..she sendtme to this..to hear it too..! I said oh yes..is Phils.posting..beautiful..no music..just their voices..! :)
Thanks for all the great music of the Lettermen. Fan since the sixties. Reunion also. I am from Malta, Idaho.
I believe, no pun intended, one of the Lettermen dated a Sherry Udy of the Cheerleaders ( from Malta ) when the Udy girls performed in Vegas in the 60's and early 70's. Great group, awesome harmonies. John
Lettermen1} Thankn you ever so much for posting all the Lettermen Songs. I'm just about 62 yrs old and the lettermen played a hugh roll in my life. Thanks again and God Bless.
You were correct Phil, that was Bobby on melody Jimmy on the top(full voice) and Tony on the bottom. We continued singing it through the seventy's while I was with the group. I am sure that the group still does it now :-)
Thanks for posting... this is such a special song, and by Jim, Tony and Bob, not the remake of the Lettermen. If you have any of their early album cuts, songs like No Man is an Island, You'll Never Walk Alone and other inspirational songs, please post them for us to enjoy. These guys were the best !!!!!!!!!
I had the original live album this recording was on. I don't think it was ever put on CD. There was an intro into this song where Jimmy Pike says they had a request from the audience for "I Believe", and then he asks for a key from the piano player. He gets a key and says, "a little lower". This has to be one of the most stunning acapella recordings ever.
Hey, will you guys get a spot on Leno or Letterman or some nationwide program to show these neo rock singers how its done. I'm so sick of hearing of poorly traind voices attached to lips that French kiss the mike.
amazing!!! perfect..look forward to our group's rendition soon during the 2009 reunion(after 20years with same company)..last one was in 2001 in vegas 2 weeks after 911...thanks for this clip..so we dont need any karaoke assistance..lol..lol.

Thanks! I found a translation of the Italian word acapella yesterday! It means singing at (or in) a chapel!
