This is the kind of shelter that many an early pioneer of Wisconsin made. The lived in earthen shelters dug into the side of the hills here. People from Chicago sneered and said insults like, "these people lived like Badgers in the ground". We took that as a compliment and began calling ourselves Badgers. Wisconsin Badgers are still darn tough and where the name proudly. Great video!
the only problem with these types of shelters is the amount of calories you burn building them. In a real survival situation, without food, expelling the calories it would take to build this could be the death of you. While yes, this is one of the best types of shelters to build, I would only suggest this if food and water is plentiful. Good job none the less.
@codykrr You are correct. However, I don't just teach wilderness survival, but more Wilderness Living skills. This would be a shelter more alignened with Wilderness Living as opposed to wilderness survival. Good observation though.
@codykrr in a sorrounding like this (even in a real survival situation) there is bound to be food lurking around. fungi, roots, schutes even animals all this would replenish calories.
I like your Video!

have you had any troubles with runoff/ drainage? i could see this being a major issue if the chosen site wasn't thought out properly.

@blinkvirus true enough. You just need the skills to find, gather and prepare the wild foods.
