Opinions are like ass holes everyone has one. My opinion you should have stretched the nozzel down the drive way past the fire then back. Red helmet has a mess. And my company always mask up in route. I would take the nozzel right off of someone that is standing by the front door getting dressed. But it is a good video. Appears to be a aggresive attack once you were inside.
One of the better response/attack videos on YouTube. Intelligent size-up and communication as well as a nice calm, clean (and filmed) knockdown. Well done.
We NEVER put our facepiece, hood or gloves on before we get on scene. There are too many hazards, especially at night, that are much harder to see with your facepiece on. There are several accounts of fireground injuries from slips, trips and falls caused from vision impairment on the fireground. Plus, it gives our guys time to slow down and size-up the situation.
Once the mask fogs up you cant see anything at all. Yea just poping the regulator in saves time - but if you do it right you should only need about 15 seconds to get your mask, hood, and helmet on and you shouldnt have to remove your gloves to do it.
You bring up a good point. Our driver/operator, which was our Assistant Chief, did a walk around. However, our attack crew did not. We have discussed that issue in training. Thanks for watching!
One of our Cadets (Explorers) filmed this. It was his first time filming and he was using a digital still camera set to video mode. I believe this fire was ruled as "probable electrical."

When my FD responds to a fire we begin to put on the SCBA gear on the way and we put our masks on at the scene if necessary, nice attack on the fire.

Nice job, just a suggestion, try a triple lay on your crosslay and you will not have to worry about dragging out your hose.

Nice vid. Great to see 1st arriving footage. Good size up report, fast line deployment and knock down. Was a 360 done too?

Do you guys follow the 2 in 2 out rule?
michiganfireman 4 years ago
Yes, we comply. There was a 2-out complement. You can not see the other member of the crew in this video.

I'm not bitching, just curious. Not bad for a bunch of Buckeyes. LOL.

We were the 1st due engine company. We completed fire attack and a primary search. We then started overhaul. This was a relatively small fire.
