How ya liking the tent, haven't found any exact videos for mind yet. But yours is simular. Just got mind today,Dec-22-Its the 9 person 10x14 Praire View by COLEMAN...good and bad about yours?
@JoshHeathMacElvain Yeah it's waterproof like an umbrella is waterproof. You don't want like a RUBBER tent because you get condensation and no air circulation and it's too heavy. If you put your finger up against an umbrella, water will come through becuase the water wicks to your finger. Likewise with a tent you want to keep things away from the fabric in a rain storm. The tent walls are practically vertical so if youo stake out the fly the water drips off without touching the tent sides.
@iusb99 I agree, we usually pull all but the center supports first then the back then the front and it comes down pretty easy with one person that way.
We have been camping with this tent for 2 years. Survived a Monsoon for 2 hours 40 mph gusts and six inches of rain in that time with no leaks. Easy to put up and goes up so much faster when you have been doing it for a while!
@PhlintRock that's good to know. It's kind of pain to take down singlehandedly but at least it doesn't have odd corners and things to flutter in the wind. In fact it's pretty EASY to set up in wind as long as you leave the doors and windows unzipped and stake it down good.
@Wayneman117 You can only buy this tent at Target. The manufacturers make it hard to price/model shop by giving each chain a different set of tents with slightly different features. Wal-Marts MAX tent LOOKS like it costs $20 less than the target tent but it has $20 less features, too.
@be1still the tent is awesome. I am in year two with it. Just MAKE SURE that the corner poles have the hole for the fly attachment LOW otherwise the fly will flap and let water in the roof. I didn't need the silver tarp on top I just used it to block the sun. The walls are so vertical that rain dribbles off the fly and doesn't even TOUCH the sides of the tent. I am 6'5" so I really like all the vertical room inside. I was in one driving rain and it did just fine. Just stake it good!!!
The wal-mart tent may be thicker material but I think it's the same. The wal-mart tent only has one D-door, the other one zips shut. Also the wal-mart tent is lower on the corners and has the flaps on the bottom sides which can be unwanted sources of draft in chilly weather. Also the wal-marts tent windows don't zip at the top. they are open at the top. The target tent's windows zip completely shut and it is a bit bigger. Enjoy!
