a true point in history for los angeles. i remember on my 12th birthday my dad took me into LA from where we lived in OC. we stuck to the freeways. I still remember the palm trees on fire and the apocalyptic red glow over the city. the freeways were virtually empty. LA was an ugly place back then.
it might seem irresponsible by many standards, but i'm fortunate to have witnessed a significant part of history. a turning point, in my opinion.

The murder rate in 2010 is back to what it was in 1967. Significant decreases in murder were also noted in east LA and Long Beach as well.

When the rioters were chased out of my building, one of the rioterst through a molotov coctail into one of the rooms of the building and caught it on fire. There were about 12 of us left in the building and we couldn't leave for our own safety. After they tried to burn my building down and failed, they torched my car.
