  • the master of djent

  • @Aarongtr180 You say that as though being less technical makes it less musically adept. Djent is not an excuse for more chugging, it's an excuse to incorporate a largely ignored concept (polyrhythms) into a genre that doesn't see much originality these days.

  • @iAmSkylit I'm in agreement. Though I disagree with aaron that a "core" genre is less technical or musical than some so-called purist metal genre. Between the buried and me is a perfect example, as are the likes of Painted in Exile and Beneath the Massacre.

  • da faQ?is that a gun?!

  • massive erection, sir. farewell.

  • GRAMMAR WAR GNARRGHH

But nice video, this kind of thing isn't that easy.

  • *Polymetre*

  • Comment removed

  • where was the polyrhythm? i mean, okay, 2/8, but you were just playing single notes and then scales--no 2/8 feel, really. If I hadn't heard you say "two/eight" I would've assumed that you were just playing in 7.

  • You all talk about hardcore bands and blahblahblah go listen to some Sikth ;)

  • @Sidepiece2

fuck that shit nigga, its all about Stravinsky and Cloudkicker.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot lol never heard stravinsky but I like cloudkicker... You'll thank me for this one. Spastic Ink

  • @Sidepiece2

lmao Spastic Ink reminds me of Aspid, the greatest prog thrash band. omg i tell you what, have a look see.

:o Stravinsky is only the most influential composer of the 20th century. So damn ahead of his time that he invented death metal using orchestral instruments. =D i exaggerate of course, but the man is a genius not to be overlooked.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot DEATHMETAL CLASSICAL OMW FLIGHT FORM ACTIVATED>

  • will you join my metal band?

  • Pretty sure I saw you at a BEHOLD...THE ARCTOPUS, Show

  • the whole thing was in 7/8

  • I can do that poly rhythm on drums. Pretty easy, just as long as your right hand has the beat going.

  • This is actually a polymeter. Polyrhythms are a bit more difficult... Still cool sounding though.

  • that... instrument... reminds me of a 7x7x7 rubik's cube.

  • almost a rockstar

  • pretty confusing

  • I believe it would be more accurate to refer to this as a polymeter than as a polyrhythm.

  • @CrypticC62 it is a polymeter but it is also a polyrhythm becuz it is two rhythms even though they arent same tempo they will tend to overlap and create a fundamental tempo which wud be 9/16

  • you are the man!

  • Damn. This would be difficult with two people, very impressive.

  • This is actually a Chapman Stick I believe. There are also guitars similar to this called War Guitars, which have 11 strings, with the lowest string dead center, and the strings get higher pitched from the center out and it is finger picked/tapped with both hands. Do some research

  • Hmm, suddenly I feel like listening to King Crimson.

  • i would get so pissed trying to play that cause i wouldnt be able to

  • But will it djent?

  • @Russiaizfun Hopefully not, considering djent is possibly the most uncreative subgenre of metal ever spawned. (Not including Meshuggah).

  • @aarongtr180 HA! I laugh at your ignorance. I agree that djent quickly got crappy, but seriously, like any subgenre these days, there is always good stuff. You just have to look under the massive pile of horse shit.

  • @rage1331 Yes. Meshuggah. All of the other djent bands are just terriblecore bands trying to be Meshuggah, IMO.

  • @aarongtr180 all the other "djent" bands are just deathcore bands trying to make a name for themselves with a new genre, theyre not terrible at all theyre just way too locked into the whole genre thing

  • @p2psux5 Exactly, and deathcore is really terrible IMO. That's why I said "terriblecore". But, again, it's just my opinion.

  • @aarongtr180

no, its universally unanimous that the majority of deathcore musicians have no clue how to play an instrument

  • @12GageMcBuckshot I agree with you. Breakdowns do not take any form of talent.

  • @aarongtr180

True, it doesn't take talent to randomly throw a breakdown that isn't relevant to the melody or rhythm of the song.

However, It takes talent to pull them off correctly. And that's why punk is your friend.

  • @aarongtr180 yeah, and your opinion fucking blows. This guy doesnt have half the talent that born of osiris or thy art is murder has dude, you just dont like music with a "core" at the end of it

  • @p2psux5 Deathcore really doesn't take that much talent at all. Anyone can chug. And considering about 3/4s of TAIM and BoO's music is composed of chugging, their music really isn't that hard to play. When compared to bands like Origin, Anata or Beyond Creation (real metal), TAIM and BoO sound like Emmure.

  • @p2psux5

Nigga you don't even know what the fuck "core" at the end of those genres is supposed to imply dumbshit.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot I like GOOD breakdowns that aren't just chugging, like the stuff real hardcore bands do.

  • @aarongtr180 Hell yeah buddy, listen to Starkweather

  • @12GageMcBuckshot that they stem from and are variations of the same music obviously..

  • @p2psux5

    Nope.

It's supposed to be punk. The deathcore you listen to aint punk. So gtfo poser.

  • Comment removed

  • @p2psux5

Horrorcore doesn't exist. Its just rap with horror lyrics. And softcore porn isn't music. And nu-Death stemmed from Deathcore, but isnt deathcore because its not punk. any more questions?

  • @12GageMcBuckshot You really need to get your head out of the genre encyclopedia's ass. The only deathcore bands I can think of that are moderately punk are groups like ion dissonance and despised icon; I would never call veil of maya a "punk" group, not that I really care to debate about it. And nu-Death? Quit pulling shit out of your ass, thats the gayest genre name Ive ever heard of

  • @p2psux5

ur an idiot and don't know deathcore lmao. your shitty music you like was stemmed from nu metal and rock. fess up to it and listen to real mans music.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot haha? Deathcore: Death metal + metalcore, whether you want to believe it or not. Apparently my bands are shitty, suggest a few so I can become a real man :)

  • @p2psux5

Deformity, Day of Mourning and Morser, are all hardcore bands that are death metallic.

and aren't shitty death metal + fakecore that got popular near the 2002 scene, that you undoubtedly listen to.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot Yep I dont listen to any deathcore before 2000, dead right.

I'm not trying to be you (who would) so obviously I'm not going to like the same bands.

  • @p2psux5

so you're not trying to be a eclectic connoisseur of genres? that makes sense since you like shit. lmao. theres like 5 good metalcore bands after 2002.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot No, actually I just live in my own time and dont pretend to like bands I never experienced and thus cannot relate to

  • @p2psux5

so you relate to whiney bitch music and watered down chug music. understood. lmao. so what does that say about you?

  • @12GageMcBuckshot That I live in the present and I didnt grow up insecure about my sexuality, that I dont feel the need to express feelings of musical eliticism over people my same age, and that Im not trying to overcompensate for being a small-dicked virgin like you

  • @p2psux5

wow, so much assumption. whats wrong? projecting? living in the present means building upon the greats of the past! hahahaha, you wouldn't know this being the simple fool you are. Especially not understanding jazz while trying to listen to polymetric music. o simple fool.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot Dude stop trying to act all high and mighty, I don't listen to jazz because I'm not pretending to study at fucking juliard. I am part of my own generation, I don't give a fuck if my music isn't well-respected because no subculture is ever given any credit until it dies. And just for the record you don't need to understand rocket science to appreciate shooting off bottle rockets

  • @p2psux5

im part of the same generation as you, but why am i simply better? why do i actually understand what im talking about? why am i actually appreciative of arts?

youre a dumb ass kid, and need to get a life.

  • @p2psux5

I've mastered listen to the relm of metallic hardcore and stravisnky and since moved on to black metal and emotive hardcore. my only goal with listening to these musics is to combine these forms in a way that the stuff you listen have always wanted but never could. it seems you want to demean the intent of the artists that are already demeaning their art in the first place. you have no appreciation for anything related to quality or catchy fun goodness. despicable

  • @12GageMcBuckshot most of that comment was illegible, please re-do. Catchy fun goodness? Was this written by the same person?

  • @p2psux5

as in, youre an idiot who doesn't know how to write music, who listens to idiots who barely know how to write music.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot much better

  • @p2psux5

also you don't have to call my sentence incomprehensible because you have the reading ability of a 14 year old. Just say, "I don't understand."

it makes you look less like a jack ass.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot "I've mastered listen to the relm." "The stuff you listen have always wanted but never could." "catchy fun goodness." Okay, I'll have to admit I dont understand your phrasings or spelling.

  • @p2psux5

lmao, input ing into listen(ing), put "to' after the second listen, and catchy fun goodness means that the music isn't being "try hard" chug-death music.

  • Comment removed

  • @p2psux5

@p2psux5 You obviously are inferior if you missed the independent clause of the sentence "[my only goal with listening to these musics is to combine these forms of music in a way] that the stuff you listen to have always wanted but never could"

    answer in brackets.

You can't mess with me, I'm the Grammar Nazi General.

This is why you need to stay in school and stop being a little bitch thinking you're living in your own time.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot they are necessary. In case you didnt notice, your sentence has quite a few grammatical errors. "Stuff" is not plural, therefore you need to change "have" to "has," and there needs to be a "to" after "wanted" or it is outright incorrect. Sorry dude but you can't argue with the truth

  • @p2psux5

The truth is: you listen to "shit" and don't know much about grammar. "Stuff" is an umbrella term, hence can have "have". You have no clue what you are talking about lmao. And just no to your "to" theory, that's just absolute bullshit. lmao, you know nothing. "Wanted" is a verb that already states action, you'd be a dumb ass to think that "to" is necessary. You can't win. You are sad and have no academic life.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot

in fact: "To" is already represented in the actions I'm doing. Hence "to combine these musics in the way the bands you listen to have always wanted" is the correct sentence and "to combine these music in a way that the musics you listen to have always wanted to." does not flow. You know very little.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot Dude you're wrong, I hate to grammar it up on youtube but "stuff" is NEVER plural. "My stuff" can refer to several objects, but the fact that it is an umbrella term makes it a singular noun. And I'm sorry that it doesn't flow, but listen to this: "the musics you listen to have always wanted combine these music" - you MUST have a preposition after "wanted" or it's not correct.

  • @p2psux5

No, but I could have 'do" after could. My style is too complicated for you. Just go away. You're forgetting I addressed this "to" problem. And you don't know shit about "stuff." Sorry kid, you're just not up to par.

  • Comment removed

  • @12GageMcBuckshot "Do" doesn't really fit, but yes, technically that would fix the end of the sentence. Your style isn't complicated, you just don't understand grammar at all. Not that grammar is all that important, but you should really stop feigning superiority when talking to an English major about sentence structure. And I would end with "wanted to, but never could, combine them," since technically you can't end with a preposition.

  • @p2psux5

I'm sorry that you can't keep up with what I am saying, simple fool. lmao.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot And I'm equally sorry that you suck at grammar, and probably everything else

  • Comment removed

  • @p2psux5

We've already gone over how you are wrong, all of the time. And we already know that I am very good at music, unlike you. So you lose and will never win, at anything.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot I haven't heard your music but I'm sure it chokes on cock. And you were wrong about every single one of your mistakes, so idk how you came to that conclusion... whatev I'm done arguing this is BS and I feel immature

  • @p2psux5

Sure go ahead, you'll pretty much never be up to my level with that quitter attitude.

  • @p2psux5 Wow you've been arguing for 1 month

  • @Mabanshi Haha I've been wondering why someone didn't post about that earlier, pretty sad huh?

  • Comment removed

  • @12GageMcBuckshot and obviously it goes without saying that all this music stemmed from punk and metal, but that doesn't mean phil bozeman has to try and sound like sid vicious caus its hardly the same scene anymore

  • @aarongtr180 ... it's the ONLY subgenre of metal ever spawned. Everything else is just heavier, faster, rock. Djent is a new tone, more technicality, less vocals more music.

  • @Lv24Magmar Djent is far less technical than technical death metal like Necrophagist, Origin, Brain Drill, etc. Djent, in a nutshell, is pretty much an excuse for metalcore/deathcore bands to chug even more than they already do while claiming said chugging is technical. So, if anything, it's less "metal" than a ton of other subgenres because of the largely pronounced "-core" influence.

  • @Lv24Magmar Dissagree, Djent is just a new form in Progressive metal. Djent isn't the first thing to bring forth polyrythmns to metal either. Its also pretty much based on the sound instead of musical elements, Djent is just progressive metal, its not a genre, rather a movement imo. Even tough people seem to have alot of different opinions on this. Altough i agree that its the first thing in a LONG time to bring forth something new and fresh to the metalgenre.

  • @Guyverhoeven Yeah the only thing really new about it is the guitar tone. I think it's trying to compete with dubstep really :P But yeah technically it's just death metal. It's a sad shame it got the trendy emo vocals like in Periphery and Tesseract, totally kills it for me. Only Meshuggah and Vildjharta are really "Metal Djent" in my opinion.

  • @Lv24Magmar Its not death metal at all. Maybe abit melodic death metal in some cases, but with the weird time signatures and technical rythms its still more Progressive metal then anything else.

And i don't agree what you are saying about the vocals. A mix between clean and rough vocals is what brings a totaly new dimension to it and makes it modern. And don't call it emo, You are just judging something because off others bands their image.

    And Meshuggah sounds terrible imo.

  • @Lv24Magmar tesseract's vocals are brilliant. And im really tired of closeminded people calling it emo. Again you really shouldn't hold a grudge to vocals like that just because some other bands with a ''emo'' image used similair. Not to mention that a mix between clean and rough vocals like that take far more skill then doing rough vocals all the time liek Meshuggah.

  • @Guyverhoeven I call it emo because it's just teenage vocals singing "beautifully" to attract the female audience and get more money. Technically you could say it's selling out because the whole point of metal is to be harsh and heavy, but the image these bands have these days is too similar to boybands, and that is the main issue I have with them. The only album I like by Meshuggah is Obzen, I can agree with you there.

  • @Lv24Magmar Its called clean singing. The guy from tesseract (or at least the ex vocalist) has a naturally higher tone of voice, hes not trying to sound emo or trendy at all (i follow vocal lessons so i can tell). And why should they keep themselves to cliché metal standards? thats exactly the whole point why they get recognition, not because they are trying to sound trendy but because they are doing something else in a style where everyone is pretty much copieing one another.

  • @Lv24Magmar as long as they are not singing about angsty teenage shit like all the mallcore bands i see no issues to his vocals.

  • @Russiaizfun Everything will djent.

  • ok, were going to cover this

  • Can you play something badass? No offense but it'd be cool to hear that stuff in the minor scales really low or something...

  • Isolated incidents-animals as leaders lol

  • @kpgpwi64 exactly what I thought :D

  • MIND=FUCKED.

  • I could listen to that rhythem for days! You should make a loop recording!

  • can you pls. play Twinkle twinkle little star next?

  • That's an awesome looking instrument!

  • what is this instrument?

  • It is a tap-guitar made by Megatar

  • @clicmusic It isn't a chapman stick? What's the difference between the two? They both seem very similar if not the same

  • @clicmusic Correction, this instrument is a Chapman Stick. Check out 'Liquid Tension Experiment', will blow your mind :). LTE - Acid Rain, Youtube it kgo :D

  • @suavedot Although similar, it isn't a Chapman Stick as the owner already stated. Google 'Megatar'.

  • @OMNINIGKILL not INStrument: DJENTstrument!

  • Rock on!!!

  • bass was cool. treble just sounded like a staccato bass.

  • Cool stuff.
