  • I miss the L-1011 also that aircraft flew me to San Diego

  • L1011's were the best...they need to keep on flying

  • Old but BORING

  • is that lipsynching? looks like it...

  • all that safety did not apply on delta flight 191

  • this is better then got lips

  • The EXIT row looks like it has generous leg room...I'll volunteer

  • Awesome. I still remember these videos. It's like watching Dr. Katz on Comedy Central.

  • I remember seeing this in 1998 when my parents and I flew to Las Vegas for the first time.

  • I remember when I first flew with Delta Air Lines back in 1996. The over all theme was very professional yet relaxing (the theme music, flight attendant uniforms, etc.) Now its more rushed and frantic in both their service and their safety information. Its just as efficient as it was back then (a little more now possibly) but I wish they would have kept this overall theme, logo and reassuring service. It made my flying experience more enjoyable and made me feel more secure flying with them

  • no wonder y they changed it

  • Delta AirLines, The #1 Plane I've Been In Sofar.

  • pervert

  • looks like the 'take on me' music video

  • holy crap it does

  • @1bosnia1 Talking away...I don't know what I'm to say. lol

    Those were the days!

  • holy crap, what they do to the infants during a water landing looks kinda dangerous

  • lol the lipping is off

  • This is so old, lol!

  • actually, i think i saw this video like 5 years ago going to Rome from JFK

  • My sons referred to this as the "sandstorm Hair" video. Guess they saved a few bucks not paying actors or giving employees the time off to appear in the video. Just the beginning of the downfall and continuing collapse of a once great airline due to incompetent management.

  • Erm, a lot of companies have animated (3D or 2D) safety videos. Delta isn't the first or the last to do so.

The following have used 2D animation: British Airways

The following have used 3D: United Airlines (see the old A319 video), Malev, the Victory Interactive Media ones (LTU, Swiss, Aeromexico, Qatar Airways, etc.), Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Hapag Lloyd/TUIFly

  • A few others:

    2D: Virgin America

3D: Virgin Atlantic (cel shaded), Japan Airlines, Egyptair, Wataniya

  • Great! Thanks for posting this.

  • i wish I was just 10 years younger...I could have been on soo many cool planes. I love how retro this is...i mean...how many people today would stap a baby onto a sife vest like a cradle?! Haha..funny...but pretty cool!

  • I vaguely remember this safety video, but I think it was on the LAST flight I took on a Delta L-1011. Yeah, they were gas guzzlers but they were Delta's top of the line for years. LUXURIOUS (especially back in the 70's)!

  • How many times must she say "egzit"?

  • If you think this is a lot, watch there new safety video.

  • Man I miss Delta L-1011... I can vividly remember flying First on the HUGE L-1011 and seeing this video... that was another era of aviation.

  • ahhh Memories.

  • Delta is the best american airline.

  • After Continental.

  • continental is crap

litrally in one flight the toilet overflowed and sewage flowed through out the cabin

  • Soon to be the biggest airline too, with aqquisition of Northwest.

  • I really miss the L-1011

  • me too. it brought the standards of the multi-aisle plane up so far and was so comfortable and rock solid.

  • @pcressma i do too its the plane that my parents first met on

  • Judging from the beat, the music at the end appears to be Adiemus, the wonderful piece which was used in the famous Delta commercial with the planes flying in formation. Anyone can confirm this? Thanks!

  • Hi there..

listend a couple of times and its def NOT adiemus !! if u want u song got it for you mail me your adres

  • Why does the fasten seatbelt sign blink a few times before it comes on? i never saw this on any other aircraft.

  • Sometimes the flight deck crew toggles the switch repeatedly, normally to notify the cabin crew of imminent turbulence or something of that kind, in the video probably just to make the pax aware of the position of the sign itself.

  • Its a shame there are not too many L-1011s anymore.

  • the lady's voice is funny

  • You haven't even heard of this company??? Hmmm... well where have you lived then??? Delta is America's and the world's 2nd largest airline measured by passengers enpalned and fleetsize and the 3rd largest by RPM (Revenue Passenger Miles).

This video was shown on DL from the mid till the late 90's. So it isn't that old!

It was voted best airline safety presentation video a couple of years in a row.

Way to go Delta!!! Good to see you back now stronger than ever!

  • how old is this please and i aint even heard of this company!!!

  • this is an old video

  • i flew clt to slc and they showed the life vest portion is this just nwa cause the oly water we flew near was lake michigan and we could glide to land if anything

  • Delta now operates an all-Boeing fleet, except the small regional jets.

  • From the camera shooting it is from 1983

  • I flown a L-1011 in 2000, and there was no safety presentation. I give it a 50% yes and 50% no, the landing was bumpy.

  • the grarhic of this video is very wonderful and this video looks like the ancient pacman.

  • I remember seeing a USA today story when Delta started using this type of animation. Delta thought it might make passengers pay more attention, instead of "real actors". Does anyone know the name of the process they used for creating the animation?

  • It's called Rotoscoping.

A-Ha's "Take on Me" music video utilizes this style entirely.

  • Bit windy on board?

  • responding to the "typo"

it is correct if you look carefully, the worping of the letters makes it look like a K.

  • do u REALLY believe that shit??

  • Typo: Chikdren under 15 may not sit... Must be Children.

  • tvʻs and fotrest come on now a days there riping us off you got your moneys worth then

  • idiot that's intl first class.

  • The combination of illustration and photographs is superb!

  • its funni how this lady's mouth usn't in sync with her words, sort of like those chinese movies eh???

  • man I miss the L1011! what a great airplane, took me to many great vacation spots! Thanks for the Vid. brings back good memories

  • The video is showing the use of the life vest, isn't this video shown as Delta's demo on Int'l flights, as well as any portion of a domestic flight that may be flown over water?

  • i hate it when there not talking but there just lip sinking

  • lol i rememember this when i flew on the L1011 round trip from ATL-MCO

  • I remember it also when I frew from Atlanta to Orlando on an L1011 in April 2000

  • how come i don't remember the life vest part...it was different...i felw FLL-ATL and ATL-LGA, ATL-SJU countless times in the 1990s and 2000

  • If you fly over land, the airline is not required to show you directions for using a life vest because at not time during the flight will you fly over water.

  • last I checked SJU is not over land...and FLL-ATL i believe goes enough over water as well.

  • yes you do. it depends on if the aircraft is life vest equipped and the way the carriers certification is worded. for example, on 01 may 2007, the combination of operations with america west and us airways will require a demo of life vests on all non video, life vest equipped aircraft---even if you fly from charlotte to nashville there will be a live demo of the vest because the primary means of flotation on the "former east" aircraft is the vest.

  • That video reminds me of another video by Zero 7's "Destiny"

  • Is it just me, or do the semi-animated people seem more distracting?

  • excelent post man, good ol' days

  • Has anybody has the safety they've used in the early 2000's? Before the one they're currently using? THx...

  • Great! Thanks for posting this.

  • ouch that looks painful for a child with a life vest ;)

  • ha ha ha ur so dam rite
