They were a total bright eyes knock-off on the earlier stuff but on this album they actually grew up as artists and decided to steal Tom Petty's song formulas and even his vocal style in some of the songs.

This band definitely has many similarities to Bright Eyes both in style, and lyrics. But I don't think it's fair to call them a Bright Eyes knock off. It's very possible that they are just similar artists. Everyone doesn't need to automatically assume it's intentional.

Either way, I like them both.

An Angle to me is like a more energetically consistent version of one of my favorite bands, Bright Eyes.

im sorry but if your on a label with new found glory, hellogoodbye, and socratic.....your not "independent" and it's your opinion but, an angle isnt great, the world doesnt need another bright eyes rip off band. drive-thru wanted conor in the beginning but he went to saddle creek and they were pissed so they got a rip off band, true story right there from the recording engineer from ARC aka presto! drive-thru may be a lame and distribute mostly shitty music, but by definition they are an independent label thus allowing an anlge to deem themselves "indie" whether you like it or not. it may not fit your idea of "indie" but it is nonetheless. there are obvious parallels between an angle and brights eyes i'm not arguing that but it's still songwriting and it's still art and actually good music if you can see beyond your bias
