  • big stuff, but id definately take jerseys barrels at 10-12 feet every once in a while over obx's more consistent large size any day. i mean the tops of those waves just kind of slide down

  • The place to be for this swell was Palm Beach. About one third the size but much cleaner (and warmer).

  • i need to get better at shortboarding before I can ride swells like this, cus I don't plan on missing it here

  • looks like fun

  • ya, that is the surf of the decade

  • Good. But not better than snowboard ))))

  • yea North Carolina Waves go HARRDDD

  • @battlefield2013 especially on the OBX

  • Fall in love all over again at the romantic ambiance of Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, Delaware.

  • @boardwalkplazahotel little late in the season to be advertising that haha.

  • The Outer Banks is the East Coasts answer to , " The east Coast never gets good surf"

  • @Tom6093 or mayportpolls and a place the place i surf sunglowpier gets very good almost like pipe ( not as big but still head high to overhead barrels is still fun)

  • @Tom6093

and jersey is the east coasts answer to "the east coast might get some big waves but sucks for barrels."

  • @chipleader14 I think it's Jersey, OBX, and Central East Florida that gets the best waves on the East Coast.

  • 1:53 into the white water

  • hahaha these surfers SUCK DICK!

  • Are you kidding me - frakkin monster at Avalon - more please...

  • noel

  • im guessing these guys wont be be evacuating for hurricane earl

i hope someone can get footage of the earl swell. its gonna be insane

  • flippin unreal. i love hatteras... biggest swells on the east coast

  • wow those waves look insanely fun! Big and kinda mushy, makes wipeouts much less intense

  • Brant Doyle and only 10 others had the nerve to go out this day! The youngest was Chris McDonald AKA "Swamp Creature"

  • I've been going to Sandbridge for thirty years and have never seen waves like that. Incredible. Good song , by the way

  • that was steezy

  • 2:28 should have backdoored it

  • Always good to get big surf here...going back to 68 this day would not rate in the top 20. In the heyday of northeasters and CLEAN hurricane swells there were swells as big and bigger, but clean, fast, hollow and long. Too bad it was before the day of digital photography. .As for surfing big waves do not mistake East Coast size for Hawaii and West Coast. Pacific swells are thicker and faster But it is only water

  • Yea dude we werent lucky like u and were born on the west coast, so this is as good as it gets

  • Hey there I am not from the west coast. I have been surfing the Outer Banks for 41 years and counting. It was big but we have had cleaner at the same size.

  • @TheCypressmooninn The perfect storm swell back in 1991 made this day look like it was only head high. . I am pretty sure that was one of the biggest surfable days in history.

  • @feud1111 Hey there,,the perfect storm swell was big but was closing out with a bad backwash. hurricane Lilly in 1996 was the longest lasting, biggest, cleanest surf I have ridden here. The swell two weeks after Lilly was hitting the top of the duck Pier. that pier is 24 ft. off the water Also the Palm Sunday swell of 1976. I started in 1968 and still at it

  • thats how big bills waves were in new jersey....

  • yeah only 100x smaller

  • they were close but not that big, Newport rhode island was bigger than this

  • how could they paddle into that? really obx?

  • it would have been awesome to see them tow into these waves.

  • crap dude, look at that break zone. why didn't you just jump off the pier? it would have saved your arms

  • omg thats freaking huge for the obx and isn't that beach road? in like kitty hawk or nags head in the opening clip.

  • kitty hawk definitely judging by the sand on the side of the road

  • There was a storm jackass. There's going to be sand there.

  • It looks like you guys get some pretty decent size surf on the East Coast. Looks like a big day in southern California.

  • Rare, very rare. They aren't kidding the day of the decade.

  • dude thats like seriously a miracle it got that big. I wish I could have made it there. but surfing in the south its fun just messing around

  • who cares if it was sloppy if there are 25 foot faces?

  • this waves don't put a people afraid, yeah their big, but no have wind, and the waves are perfect, they don't closed ;]
