  • Its most certainly not a beautiful thing... its and MG (shudder) lol

  • thumps up if you tilt your head .

  • i just traded my DI drums for a peavey bandit 112 1990

  • I JUST got the new MG30CFX amp and it has an octave setting, what would be a good setting for a drop c kinda sound? I know the guitar would have to be tuned to drop d for it to be able to work. But like, how much would I have to turn the fx knob to the octave to get drop c sounds? Thanks. =] Marshall is a good amp brand and I'm glad I got it. Sounds way better than my shitty 30 watt Traynor amp.

  • i got that guitar :)

  • You and this amp suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • please post more vids! :3

  • Those Marshall MG's are fucking terrible man.. I had a MG102 FX, piece of trash couldn't wait to get rid of it.. Tube amps all the way

  • @IVIANNERZ *Vomit at tube amps*

  • @IVIANNERZ The 102 is one of the new mg series from marshall, and I agree with you, they sound awful. But the 250 dfx here is an old discontinued model they made before the cheaper new series. Im all about tube amps, but this solid state sounds pretty damn good for the money.

  • I play in Drop D and C A LOT, toget a Lamb of God and As I Lay Dying sound. Right now im using a Vox DAF5 Effects Amp, (tiny but loud motherfukcer), and I use high gain 3 as the channel, with the Comp, effect, (altho i have no clue what the hell Comp is or supposed to do), and i want to add a distortion pedal, to make a more badass sound, what effects would i have to look for?

  • dude ur old with a bunk bed! haha!

  • i HAVE THE SAME GUITAR!

  • arent youa bit old for bunk beds?

  • @bacelines LMAO!!!

  • Is that a Ibanez Gio GSA60?

  • zomg you sound like shake!

  • marshall MG... that amp is fucking horid get a real metal amp like an engl or a peavy

  • My settings: Bass 8 Mid 5 Treb 7, and distortion 11

  • not if you have a marshall then you're cool

  • My guitar amp settings on my noob amp.

    30w

    Bass, 4. Mid, 6. Treb, 10. Vol, 10.

  • amp settings. gain 10. bass 10. mid 10. treb 10. vol 10. presence 10

  • @ottozing psh, mine go to 11

  • I have the same guitar :P

  • Uh... I thought the video said Heavy Metal 101... who cares about the clean channel go straight to where the meat's at: OVERDRIVE/GAIN/DISTORTION!

  • THHHEEEE FFFUUUCCCKKK !??!?!? YOU PEOPLE RETARDED ??? its a solid state not a tube ! you can tell without even lookin at the fact that there is only ONE switch . power. not two . power and standby haha wow

  • my guitar that

  • good video...but I'd like to find a video with more insight instead of the "set it right about here" thing...I think someone needs to discuss how a tube amp works and the difference between that a solid state in particular they need to talk about what gain is and what volume is and how they relate to each other. Alot people consider the guitar the instrument I think its part but the amp and the guitar and whats in between MAKE the instrument its all one piece and everything makes a difference

  • What pedal/ pedals do you suggest for the best palm muting heavy metal sounds?

  • The fuck... You're a really rich guy! Good for you :\

  • Of course, not everyone can afford a tube amp

  • Great suff

  • get a noise gate.

  • @stratlover37 i fixed the amp noise...by purchasing a new amp ahah

  • @RichManofAction what did u buy

  • @RichManofAction what did u get?

  • @holyass242 I bought a Bugera 1990. It is awesome.

  • @RichManofAction good. cuz the mg sux, im no fan of bugera, however i do own the v55 to compliment my peavey 5150. so good choice on that bro, tubes win

  • @stratlover37 i user a fender squier strat

  • @stratlover37 the noise is also partly because he is standing with his guitar right against the amp

  • Hey how about gain all the way, no mids, the second dash for bass, and treble all the way.

  • stop hating ppl hes only trying to help...geesh. It isn't as bad as you say...

  • You have a lovely Marshall.

  • I don't even have a mid button on my amp, but it's still an awesome amp.

  • Im gonna have to agree with pwnersupreme. This vid sucks ass

  • gago!!

  • the buzzing is from you crappy leads lol

  • Overdrive!

  • Please tell me how much that amp was :0

  • What amp would you recommend available for below 100 euros? Currently, I have a BlueRock FX10-G, which I got with my guitar beginner pack. It sounds awesome, but I want something even more awesome. This current amp is 10W.

  • Hey cool I have the same guitar in red! :D

  • Hey I dunno a shit bout Elec Guitars...I am about to buy one....I wanna play metal and grunge....is an amp enough or do I need a processor/pedal also...?

  • @papan1990 u need an amp and a pedal

  • @papan1990 You don't really need a pedal not as an beginner at least, stores often offer affordable beginner packages that contains everything you need.

  • got the same Ibanez

  • im a line 6 guy my self ,

  • 'this is the power switch, make sure its on' lol you absolute legend

  • do you know how to get the settings on a BB10? its my first guitar and i cant get it to sound like metal

  • The first thing I'd adjust here is the amp. I find it impossible to take seriously any advice from someone using an MG.

  • @Weybl thank god there are others who know that these amps are complete garbage. tubes all the way!!

  • @Weybl Mg is is a fuckin good series dude. It may be digital, but it meets demands of top musicians. verstile amps they are.

  • @ThePenny41

Have to disagree, the only endorsements from professional guitarists I've seen were from players who use Marshal tube amps live and in the studio and only use MGs as practice amps. With the exception of Wayne Static who uses some of the most harsh, awful guitar tones I've ever heard.

Also, they're well documented as one of the most unreliable amps in production.

And I've got nothing against digital, all my effects are digital and I'm not a marshall basher, I use a JVM myself.

  • i have same guitar in blue though, Ibenez rules

  • Do you know amp sittings of COB??

  • That's some awful tone you got there...

  • so what settings would you use for a clean mudvayne live tone?

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE THE AMP! That amp is god. I have the same amp but it's the MG100 head dfx. A lot cheaper but still works.

    Thanks for the help. \m/

  • can you get avenged sevenfold heavy metal guitar sounds on a Frontman Amp 15G guitar amplifier??

  • @LooneyboyzCR hahahaha very very VERY unlikely. I recommend you upgrade, immediately

  • @LooneyboyzCR i got that amp but 15R

  • @LooneyboyzCR People say fender sucks ass in distortion, but i think otherwise. fender is very clean, ment to amplify whatever signal it recieves as clean and as loud as possible. if you want a good distortion, and are using a fender, i recomend looking into effects pedals. plug them in, and have your fender on the clean channel. The superb clean sound fender offers, will make any sound thats intended from the any guitar/pedal/effects.

  • sorry man ! you're cool. Oh, by the way your not an idiot. That would be cruel. And that is a nice Marshall. The hum is driving me nuts though.

  • i put my line 6 on the metal red channel. gain on 7, bass on 10, middle on 8, treble on 9. sounds good.

  • @poolpaul5 way too much of everything

  • @poolpaul5 The line 6 isnt real, its digital. Get a amp that has real tone.

  • I swear I'm like the only guy in the world that hates marshalls with a passion

  • Now we're two.

  • @metalmankam you're not alone ;)

  • @metalmankam Nah, same here, i use crates but I hate all those amps with those damn presets in them, i think the only reason people use marshall amps is becuz they have halfstacks and shit, but i like amps to have just like 3 choices, clean/overdrive/reverb, what do you prefer?

  • @izzy55556 I like it to have high gain. I'm not really into pedals and stuff i like it to come straight from the amp. And I'm not much into tubes. DIme didn't use tubes for all his famous tones on pantera albums, and I won't use em either. I'm using my first amp a line6 spider 15. I know it's crap but I can't afford a randall yet :P My friend let me borrow his Peavy Vypyr it's alright but I'd rather have the randall

  • @metalmankam Yeah i'll use pedals only in songs that i need them really, i like to screw around with my talkbox though, but all the tone in my covers like on my channel are direct from the amp, i dont like line 6's cuz of all the built in stuff though, so if i get a big amp itll probably be just a regular crate, tube and power amps dont really matter to me, just wat i think sounds good ya know?

  • I think hes coool

  • NERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • lol

  • and whats your basis for that comment?

someone who knows there stuff is a nerd?

ill take your nerd comment over a idiot any day

  • metal tone is basically scoop your mids, crank your bass and treble. drive all the way up.

  • thanks for the advice,

  • ive got the same amp. do you find the overdrive channels are REALLY scratchy and seem to overtake every sound.

  • what r the best heavy metal amp settings for a Marshall MG Series 250DFX. i want it to sound heavy and like crunchy. like Pantera Slayer Metallica Megadeth HELP!!!please

  • me too reply to me 2

  • @xXUs3SumBodyXx not gonna get it with a mg.. get somthing new..

  • @xXUs3SumBodyXx I'd suggest scooping your band. Crank up your lows and highs, and drop your mids to minimal as possible, but adding very little if needed. And distortion!! turn that shit up!! get the most distortion your amp offers.

  • cool amp dude. :) although, you've got alot of back fire when distorted.

  • me too

  • I have that amp! :D

  • your voice reminds me of master shakes

  • @dustXiron lmao omg it does i was wondering who he sounded like and u hit it right on da spot LOLOLOLO LMAO

  • wat strings do u suggest for the ibanez rg120 caz the tunnings i go from is from Standard all the way to Drop C

  • Wow, this video was pointless. Everything in this video is common sense and opinion. Those settings will only sound like that on that amp considering that the tone stacks of amps are all different. Btw try a tube amp, you'll realize that diming your gain on a solid state amp sounds like a pile of fuzz and ratty gain. Solid state amp distortion is a cheap emulation of clipping tubes, which can only really happen in a TUBE power and preamp section..

  • @jacobtheguitarfreak Compressions, pedals, and 5 band equalizers work well with solidstate amps. eliminating the buzz. most times, the buzz comes from dust, or dirt build up in the pots, or imput/output jacks.

  • @ThePenny41 Buzz also comes from the solid state power section that clips at high volumes, causing a flubby buzzy tone. When tube amps are cranked, the power section overdrives and creates a fatter, warmer tone with classic crunch. Actual distortion, not an emulation. Also, running all of those effects into an unresponsive solid state will lose the identity of your instrument. With a direct signal to tubes, your guitar sounds like your guitar. It has more voice and soul and musicality.

  • thank you for showing me.

  • Can someone Tell me how to get a nice chunky sound out of a line 6 spider 2?

I'm looking for something good to play drop B and Drop C in, Something like Mychildren Mybride or A day to remember.

    Thanks.

  • whats up with that awful buzzing?

  • My ibanez is very loud- i need to replace the pots, jack and switch

  • Im looking for a complete heavy metal sound, a bit like Megadeth. I have a fender telecaster and same amp. Is it possible to get the sound i want with a tele? Thanks man!

  • yea megadeths tone kicks ass! what i do is i put my bass all the way down and my mids and highs all the way up so i dont know try that

  • @RichManofAction

you could just consider a gate...

    i have the same amp,

but only for the DFX i find their chorus and delay when its on full just adds so much to it, its hard to play with it off.

run through a pod xt live for all the tone.

its cheap and better than most expensive rigs.

as i'm sure your aware (Y)

  • @RichManofAction or do u see that little switch at the back switchit around and it should get rid of some of the buzz

  • @RichManofAction or do u see that little switch at the back move it around and it should get rid of some of the buzz it deepends on where u put it

  • @shredftw every amp has that...

  • Tis a good amp...

When i first got mine, It had a little manual with it that told you some settings that where pretty decent. But i lost it because i'm an idiot...

    But nice video. Thanks 5/5

  • My personal opinion. Laney amps are the best. Unbelievable clean sound. Thick, Full, Warm, and Versatile. Distortion channels are EXTREMELY versatile. You can play ANYTHING! Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal, Country... The amp I have can sound like pretty much any other amp out there. Mesa, Marshal, Fender, Orange... And every guitar sound really good through it.

  • Marshall Distortion is fail, but you won't get a better clean sound out of any other amp.

  • ...noisy amp.

  • most are when they have distortion built in as a sound.

but im not crazy about this amps distortion.

  • Wat R the Exact Amp Settings Like

    Clean Channel

    Gain:?

    Mid:?

    Bass:?

    Treble:?

    Overdrive Channel

    Gain:?

    ETC.

  • so i will use this settings for heavy metal the same on my distorsion pedal?

  • should of bought a peavey valve king 112 or the 212 they are £300.00 here in the uk.. also they are full tube amps no digital crap in there. amazing amps i promise

  • dude, people, its all about the midrange. when ur at low volumes, the scooped tone sounds good, but when you crank it up, you have to have a bunch of midrange or else it sounds really weak

  • This sounds really bad. /troll

  • yeah thats because of the really bad 60 cycle hum

  • i have a MARSHALL mg but im want a JVM or DSL so bad :(

  • dnt we all

  • its pret good actually fam guitarist thx

  • MGs disgust me.

  • ha you're like 13-

  • I am 13, but i can hear ffs. They are horrible amps that do nothing but blues. ( id know, my first amp was an mg ) the gain is absolutely horrible.

  • ok wow thats your opinion i have the mg 100hdfx full stack and its amazing the tone is awesome and the gain does not suck

  • well, you're the one that's gonna get laughed at, bragging about your "crushing overdrive" rofl.

  • i never said i had a "crushing overdrive" all i said was that the gain does no suck it has a very nice low end distortion to it

  • go watch the zakk wylde MG ad. he talks about the "crushing overdrive" so thats part of why everybody rips on him, and on mgs

  • Have you ever actually heard a decent amp? listen to a jcm800 and then listen back to your mg and you'll see how bad it sounds

  • well yeah ive heard them but some people dont have the money to afford a jcm800 or even someting with good tubes but the mg is exetremly good for someone who can afford it

  • For amount of money you spent on the mg halfstack you cud buy a nice tube combo

  • well yeah thats true but i dont really like combo amps iprefer something bigger and louder

  • A 40w tube amp combo is going to be louder than an solidstate 100w halfstack anyway haha

  • man you remind me of my friend he says stuff like "im gonna get a 15 tube amp because any place you play and need more than 30 watts they'll have a PA system so ill juct hook up to that" i dont care if its louder i just prefer half stacks thats all

  • yeah but halfstacks are just plain badass

  • oh excuse me, sorry i didnt see mg lol my bad

  • you know how fucking much a jcm amp is? Not a lot of people can afford

  • ha yea people talk about JCM amps like they grow on trees...one day maybe...I just got the new jackson sheesh

  • Actually you can find some pretty good deals on JCM's. I know somebody who got a 2204 for around $400-500.

  • agreed. i have a mg D: . i hated the gain. so i went out and bout a distortion pedal lol

  • yeah, the mg isnt bad if you run through the clean channel with a pedal, but by the time you pay for the MG and pedal, there is a LOT that of better options. considering a vavleking 50 watt retails for 400$ and the MG 50 watt pretty much the same, you pay for the marshall logo and not much else.

  • well hah yeah true. but i got the mg as well my second amp and i didnt know my stuff well enough but being into metal im thinkning of buying a line 6 spider 3 15 or 30watts. think that might b a good amp ?

  • nah, the spiders are pretty digitally. IMO the best amp in that area are the peavey vypyrs. A lot more modeling, a lot better modeling, and a preamp tube with real analog OD. Only complaint is that being a modeling amp, it doesn't handle pedals very well. But if you got the 30 watt, it has pedal modeling too. ( i own the 15 ) If you can find one though, a crate V5 or V18 used ( class A tube amps that are now discontinued but surprisingly cheap) that would be a better alternative.

  • kk thx man lol thatl help me well ALOT, il try and find some for sale around where i am for a good price

  • just dont do it. the MG and the Line 6 Spider III are bad amps

  • man, a line 6 is no way worst than my mg now. i swear it took me the longest time just to get a close to good sound out of it with a distortion pedal. iv tried a line 6 30 watt. i like it a hell alot better

  • indeed, if you buy a new amp and you need a distortion pedal for it - you bought the wrong amp.

  • which combo amp would you recommend?

  • I would look into the new Peavey 6505 112 combo

  • i would recommend the peavey valve king 212....

    kick ass!

  • @posad1117 dude, go with the line 6 spider 4 series, the 75 watt and up have 250 preset artist and style settings and 18 manuals + kickass effects

  • a MARSHALL!!!.....mg =(

  • please give me a really good metallica setting

  • im not him but if you want i like setting my amp for metallica like this:

    GAIN:8\10

    BASS:7.5\10

    TREBLE:5\10

    CONTOUR:10\10

    MID:3\10

I like it very distorted and low

  • that didnt help anyone really lol

    try more of this

    GAIN: 8

    BASS: 8

    Treble: 9

MID: 2/3 you cant really tell a difference.

    CONTOUR: 9

REVERB: turn the knob a third up

  • but if you put contour too much you don't have sustain in the solos

    ?

  • i though u would show us how to set the guitar to metal... :)

  • please

    get a noise gate

  • dude turn your gain down on your overdrive

  • he should turn it up! heh heh.

  • hey im getting the same guitar as you soon! :P

  • :D we have the same guitar... did u get the same guitar now?

  • nope...but im almost there! im getting a metalzone pedal in a few days! :)

  • wow.. nice to hear that... :D

  • Comment removed

  • my previous comment had nothing to do with this guy's playing or "tonal outlook"

  • hey honey, calm down. your individual guitar tone doesnt get you the crowd ok, if you knew your shit as much as you say you do, why the hell are you looking up these videos? honestly just be the bigger person and dont even bother with commenting on videos you dont agree with.

  • Thanks to you I will no longer go on with the ridiculous notion that I have been moving in the right direction with regards to my playing for the last 18 or so years and that my hardcore band is actually drawing out crowds that are very excited to see us. I now know they are all complete idiots as am I due to your enlightening replies. Thank you very much.
