While it's cool that Casey can play a mean guitar and sing well, fact is tthat artists like him are a dime a dozen. That's partly why he hasn't made it yet, especially in Texas where there are literally tens of thousands of guys like Casey looking to become the next Stevie Ray Vaughan or Kenny Wayne Shepherd. If Casey focuses on his vocals more while learning to connect, makes good song choices, improves his stage presence, and breaks out the strat only on occasion, he'll do very well indeed.

You can say that anyone of those competitors are a dime a dozen. The fact that he can play an instrument makes him more of a musician than the majority of those terrible pop singers. There aren't tens of thousands of guys like Casey in Texas, I understand where you are coming from but you can't say something is literal if it actually is not a fact. If he puts his guitar away and relies on his voice alone there is a good chance he will go home sooner because his voice isn't as strong as some.

I was speaking figuratively. In truth, Casey may be a dime a dozen Texas rocker, but he can really sing. My point is that AI is a (reality TV show masquerading as a) singling contest, and the main voting demographic won't be that impressed with guitar theatrics, unless he matches them with an equally or more impressive vocal. He could do Stevie Ray's version of "Superstition" really well I'm sure. Also, he's not the only credible musician this year. The other one is Crystal Bowersox.

I never said he was the only credible musician, I agree that Crystal is talented. However, I doubt I will watch American Idol this year anyways. I usually watch the auditions just in case there is someone spectacular, but waiting for 2 people to sing for a minute and a half each isn't worth wasting an hour and a half struggling thru the other competitors. To be honest, I am completely apathetic about the entire show.

terrible, i hate to say this, but his voice sucks, he should just vote himself off, because his voice is weak in comparison to gavin degraw's original voice, if you can't sing it just as good as the original than just don't sing it at all. so far as looks goes, thats whats keeping him here, as for his voice, he definitley needs to go, now.
