a great team, faster than the bullets and the perfect mix of youth and veterans, don't forget bill bridges and derrick dickey, the great defense of george johnson and clifford ray who dominated the big bad bullets unseld and elvin hayes when it really mattered, like the second half and late in the 4th quarter. And of course rick barry....like pete rose in cincinatti, the warrior fans loved him, all other nba fans hated him. but they all wanted him on their team!!!
knag91 that is why love NBA even though it has its problems. I am doing this workout program that's used by NBA players - (50-inch-vertical[dot]com) - I am already jumping higher and dominating on the court!
they had super rookies, un-known 2cnd and 3rd year players , great vets, Rick Barry, Clifford Ray , Jeff Mullins, Butch Beard. Great coach Al Attles who was the first to play 8 players consistently in the NBA. The perfect storm of players, coach, and fans that were rabid that urged that team on. Oakland Bball fans are the best
This is my favorite kind of upset in sports. When a sweep is predicted for one team, but acheived by the "underdog." Same thing happened in the 1966 World Series.
i have a basketball signed by all 13 team memebers including the coaches. It is in excellent condition stored in a closet for over 30 years. How much is it worth?
This NBA Finals had a weird Finals format. It was an unusual 1-2-2-1-1 format because there was schedule conflicts with the Oakland Coliseum. Games 2 & 3 were played in the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Game 1 & 4 were played at the Capital Centre.
Bullets lost to the Cavs in the 1st round known as the Miracle at Richfield the following season. Then the ABA folded which enabled Philly to acquire Dr J and win the east crown in 76-77. But then finally Washington got their championship in 1978 versus Seattle. I'm just trying to provide some information for those who don't know.
I'm sure the Golden State fans who witnessed it still talk about it today. Us Clevelander are envy of you.
It almost sounds like Charlie Jones narrating the story
