  • My kitty Faith almost DIED from using BioSpot Spray crap! The lady told me to rub the spray into her fur,and that it was safe enough to use on my cat and my 3 kittens.SURE!My little kittens were fine, but after 10 minuets she was bleeding from her nose, having seizures, couldn't walk, had trouble moving. Her eyes swelled up.Three days later she pulled through foaming at the mouth due to getting that crap out of her. She's okay for the most part now.NEVER using that crap again!!!

  • I am currently going through the horror of bio-spot product now. My poor cat. I took her to the vet and not much they can do to rid her of the poison. Just something to help calm her nervous system down and wait it out and see if she is able to pull through. I am so angry. How in the hell are these companies able to keep thier poisons on the shelves? These things are just harmful to pet but to us too.

  • This is why I only get my flea and tick meds from my Veterinarian. My vet only sells the Advantage line of products, never had a problem with any of my animals with Advantage. 3 Cats and 1 Dog.

  • I'd like to point out that I used their product wrong too, I put it on him and washed it off. Did not leave it on for 5 minutes like the directions say to. I guess if i'd just learn to follow directions my dog could be dead instead of slowly getting better. Dam what was I thinking using it wrong?

  • I'd like to thank sergeants for almost killing my dog twice. Once because I used their flea/tick shampoo on him, that had no warning about seizures or nerve damage on it. Then again when because of the damage it caused to him he fell off the bulkhead and into the lake and wait, the dog that loved water cant swim now. So as he started to sink, I had to go in after him. But thats ok because it was a hot day after all and we needed a good swim.

  • May change the labels?! You better pull that bullshit poison off the shelves, you idiots!

  • I used Hartz One Spot years ago on a cat. All of her hair fell out, her skin was inflammed and oozing. I had to give her steriod injections to help her. I've never used it since. I prefer not to use ANY topical treatments on my dogs, and only use Sentinel.

  • I would NOT use rubbing alcohol on your pet!! It can be absorbed through the skin! That's why we don't give people rubbing alcohol baths to bring down fever any more!!! Please use care with natural remedies, remember pyrethrums are derived from chrysanthemums!! We love our pets for sure so find a vet you can trust and ASK! My vet is super cool. They use all kinds of alternative therapies , treatments. Good luck!

  • This is exactly why I use flea & tick repellents made from natural oils such as cedar oil & lavender oil. They are both SAFE for cats AND dogs (do not use on rodents or small animals) and they smell nice.

  • IT'S ALL PART OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER-USA IS TRYING TO KILL OUR PETS AND LATER THEY WILL LEGALIZE CAT AND DOG MEAT AS PRODUCE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT CHINA WANTS!!!

  • Hello...this has been an ongoing issue for years!!! This is what happens when companies try to make a product for cheap and try to avoid having to sell it with a prescription or only in vet clinics. I have seen and heard of hundreds of animals having seizures or even dying due to the OTC products. If people would just listen to their vets and purchase what the recommend and not try to save a few bucks this would not be going on and HARTZ would be out of business.

  • I have a feeling that if pets actually survive through the application they could end up having seizures permanently, looking at this I realize that is the reason my pet has been acting funny and I asked a vet who didnt know crap about the products. Im not using this on my dog ever again! Im throwing the box I currently have away right now!

  • my mother gave my pet beagle the hartz, and he had a seizure and he just started peeing and he couldn't stop he did after a while at first we thought that it was just the dog because we herd that beagles are prone to seizure, but recently we gave him the product it was an ointment and my mom didn't even give him the whole pack. and geuss what the same thing happened. so i got kinda scared but my mom still didn't think it was the product then i found this video now she believes me thank God

  • Fleas can be killed with simple RUBBING ALCOHOL! It's true. But most vets will not tell you this because they are probably getting the same kind of kickbacks & rebates from drug companies that people doctors get. I used pyrethrin based flea shampoo and Advantage neck treatment on my 15 yr old cat for many yrs. He just died of thyroid problems & aggressive cancer that spread from his lung. Does anybody know the long term effects of this junk? I doubt they've ever studied it.

  • Bayer CropScience is the world leader in agrochemicals. Bayer´s annual pesticide sales amount to €5.8 billion (£4.6bn). Since 1991 Bayer has been producing the insecticide imidacloprid which belongs to the substance class of neonicotinoids. Imidacloprid is one of the most used insecticides in the world for field and horticultural crops. It is often used as seed-dressing, especially for maize, sunflower, and rape. The substance is Bayer´s best-selling pesticide.- this is Advantage Flea Control !

  • Advantage Flea Control killed one of my cats and I adopted a cat was maimed

Imidicloprid 09% Bayers biggest pesticide and profit maker - it is used under different names and sprayed on crops bound for human consumption wake up people -

  • Please do not use Hartz. I have been up all night with a sick cat. I hope she makes it. I have even used this product in the past with no reaction.

  • Sick! Disgusting. All to make a buck. The EPA won't do anything either because the EPA is a government organization, they don't want to lose tax dollars from all these poisonous pet products like Hartz . Do a google search on Hartz Kills and you'll see a website dedicated to the deaths this product has caused.

  • my Bulldog was very sick...this shit is BAD...called and got my money back too. they won't do anything about taking it off the market. talked to EPA

  • chains tied to a stake in the ground, even if it goes round and round - unattended a pet can strangle themselves.

  • What about Front-Line for dogs?

Should I stop using it as well?

  • @TimeTravelerTN Try looking at the ingredients and see if it does use Pyrethin or Pyrethriods.Front-Line and Advantage are usually the safest ones.Pets aren't normally harmed that Front-Line,depending on just how sensitive your dog is.

  • My cats (old and new) haven't had fleas in the past 30 years. the SAFEST and most effective method I have ever used.....and nobody has to take a friggin cold bath! Google " How to flea comb your cat "

  • Have you ever heard of a FLEA COMB????? After each swipe with a flea comb, dip the comb in VERY VERY HOT soapy water. Keep flea combing the cat (face, neck, belly, back, tail EVERYWHERE) until you don't catch any more fleas in the comb. Do this every 7-10 day intervals for a month (if heavily infested I'd recommend doing every day for a few days) This should take care of any flea eggs that hatched between combings.

  • Last : use hair blow dryer to dry them up. And there you will have a nice clean kitty. 0h, I left the shampoo out huh, will you can use the shampoo after you take ur cat out n put it on quickly then put him back in or use the shampoo for another time where u use warm water to bathe ur cat. For dogs do the same thing. if you dont have a big bucket, train ur dog to stand still while bathing him/her with a leash. Wash them once or twice a week, you'll c the difference. thank you!

  • Warning: Do not put them in the cold water past 5 mins. Best time for them n the cold water is 2 to 3 minutes only. Also kind of wipe the cat's face with the cold water. After that take them out keep on talking to them using their name-it clams them down -no other noise or background noise. (they will panic). Use the towel or coth wrap them like a baby. Use the tweezer to pick the rest of the tics on their face n ears n check around they body and pick the tics with tweezer.

  • ok *6 wear gloves so that the tics and flea cant really sense your heat. *7th explain to your pet what are you going to do and aplogize to him/her n I also aplogize to God. *then 8th grab you cat's front legs and back legs together and dip your cat into cold water, keep on talking to him/her to clam them down. keep on holding them in the water keeping his/her head above the water. have another person rub the cat's back, belly etc.. You will see the tics floating in the water n tiny tiny fleas.

  • Okay here is how I do it, but just remember I am not responsible for anything. This is only up to you if you want to do like what i do. For Cats: *Get a bucket that your cat can fit in and when he/she stands his/her head will only be sticking out. *2nd fill up the bucket with regular Cold water from the tub, sink etc.. *3rd have a tweezer handy. *4th have a towel ready or cloth. 5th dont use flea shampoo, use regular shampoo for people's hair. i use pantine-it makes their coat shine n silky.

  • Look everyone the safest way to get rid of the fleas tics etc.. just bathe your pets in cold water. this will make the fleas tics come right off and or easy to come off. these fleas and tics sometimes gets on me and i took real cold shower and they just fall right off. so then i started washing my pet in cold water, you can see them tics come off floating dead.

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just bought hartz flea product for my cat....but after seening this video,im afraid to use it,i already took him a bath with dawn dish soap, but what else can i do.....please help.i dont want to lose my cat

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990

I would never put anything on my cats again, I would rather comb the fleas out one at a time, but if you must put a product on the only one I would even consider trusting is Frontline and even then be careful and watch carefully.

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990 You should use Front Line from Pet Meds. Trust me it's worth paying a little bit more, but your cat won't be harmed or een die. I use it on my pets and love it. Your also right about Dawn that's a groomers secret. My Aunt is a groomer and told me about hat.

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990 You should use Front Line from Pet Meds. Trust me it's worth paying a little bit more so your cat won't be harmed or een die. I use it on my pets and love it. Your also right about Dawn that's a groomers secret. My Aunt is a groomer and told me about hat

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990 Also, I live in Canada, and a much safer flea and tick control is Advantage.

I refuse to use any Harts shampoos or tick and flea removers.

Advantage is expensive, but if you had a child and you had to pay to get a shot that was to save their life, would you do it?

If you can't afford an animal the best thing to do is surrender it, too.

I hope your kitty is good now.. :)

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990 I bought it right now plz help I'm scared help!!

  • @MsCHINADOLL1990 Never use Hartz products buy revolution from your vet it is easy to use & a lot safer. The vet doesn't have to put it on you can.

  • My new kitten had a drop of this on his neck, and, he slep with his eyes open and started shaking. I'm afraid to use anything anymore. He is alive, and Jayy will be under intense care. I need a treatment, or he'll die anyway.

  • @FunsizedBytch

Your kitten needs to be treated by a vet.

  • Ok So what is safe to use to get rid of fleas on a cat ?

  • @eurobarbiegirl

Dawn dish soap is safest. If you must use a flea product, Frontline is the only one I would usr

  • @eurobarbiegirl n to ALL DOG AND CAT LOVERS: Do you want to get rid of them fleas etc.. well, there is a secret that it seems like not everyone knows. Okay, instead of using scary products, what I use is just regular COLD water! Yep, it does the job. these fleas and tics got on me sooo many times right, well warm water didnt take them off, but when i tried COLD water, they just fall right off and they came off eaisly. even my dog loves to take cold water baths even in the winter time.

  • Btw thank you so much for the upload Hummer was so cute. God bless him. It's such a shame that we all go to Petcos, Petsmarts, and other local stores that sell these un-useful flea products. Every time I ask the workers at Petco they say it is safe and fine...... I just hate that. I'm still sorry for Hummers death. That is just not fair. They still sell these products and a lot of people still buy it. On Bio-Spot there was a chemical called "Permethrin" and not "Pyrethrin".

  • Btw thank you so much for the upload.

  • I thought Bio-spot is okay for dogs? The flea liquid type? I tried it for my dog and she is fine..... still I'm scared. I think Frontline is okay.

  • @StrawberryAbbey06

I would not use the BioSpot again, consider it a blessing that your dog is fine. Frontline should be fine, although any product can cause a bad reaction. Dawn dish soap is the only 100% safe bet.

  • @hzierhut Thank you for the info. Yes from now on I will use Frontline. I used to use "Revolution" which is more for flea eggs. My dog Abbey, is a 9 pound long haired Miniature Dachshund (Those sausage dogs) and she tried Bio Spot and I'm so glad she was fine. She is 4 years old and from now on I will go with Frontline. She never got a reaction to it even though she has a sensitive skin. It's just a blessing :)

  • so what is the safe product to kill fleas on my 2 yrs old maltese mixed? I just brought the bio spot fleas control today...but after watching this video I'm afraid to use it on my dog...i think i'm going to return it...but can you tell me which product is the safer to use on dog for fleas control?

  • @ryn7yen2

Returnthe Bio Spot and give your dog a bath with Dawn Dish Soap. Frontline would be a much safer bet if you must use a flea control product.

  • @hzierhut Oh and are you sure? Dawn dish soap is good for dogs? I use organic shampoos for her because of her sensitive, dry skin.

  • ☮We have a very unique line of non-toxic flea collars for cats and dogs, with easily assimilated vitamins. Pet Flea & Tick Collars that work. • First Guy: Is this completely safe?

    Second Guy: Yeah.

    WRONG!!

  • BTW, ACV = apple cider vinegar (the kind you get from the health food store that is unpasteurized and contains the "mother").

  • People really need to be more educated on this stuff. Any form of flea, tick, heartworm medications contain some form of pesticide that are used to kill bugs. All of this stuff is poison. But our animal friends are ingesting and being applied with this stuff. There are many natural form solutions to get ride of ticks and fleas such as Diatomaceous Earth, you can apply it on their coats or ingest it to get ride of internal worms. It has been used for hundreds of years.

  • I agree. DE is one way to go, BUT should not be breathed in as it can cause lung damage. The best way to permanently prevent fleas is to wash your floors in hot water and soap to which you have added 2 heap tablespoons of BORAX . All non-carpet floors including wood. Every time you wash, use the borax. If you have carpet, every time after vacuuming, sprinkle borax into the carpet. U should put a little REAL ACV, just so you barely taste it, into the pet's drinking water daily.

  • OH I totally agree, BUT how am I to know !!! word of mouth. I never heard of this !!! I just shampooed my dog in HARTZ bullshit and she is sick. My VET told me to use HARTZ for fleas. I am leaving his clinic. AN IDIOT. I am pissed. I am posting this on facebook. I hope she gets better.

  • @krissygirl333 omg my vet told me to use it to and i just found out how dangerous it can be! im so pissed and im scared for my animals DX

  • Yeah, they are constantly testing on animals to protect animals! SICK!!!! if they go natural and use non-animal testing technology, this wouldn't be an issue! Spearmint, peppermint and clove oil mixture will keep the fleas and ticks away! Try it. store brands ALL care nothing about you or your pet. Most of the dog and cat food will kill them too. Do your research people!!!!!!

  • Every major city in the US with a mosquito problem sprays the grass at all schools. parks and grassy areas with Pyrethins. LA does it somewhere every night to combat the flea problem. And as far other "natural" repellent they do not work. The CDC did extensive studies with the Military looking for something other than DEET. Turns out DEET is the least harmful of all the ingredients and the most effective. Test your pets and kids for allergies first!

  • garlic is also not recommended to give to your dog as well...check out the ASPCA website for a list of dangerous foods to avoid

  • The cat's name is "Hummer"?

  • Yes, his name was Hummer. Sweetest cat ever, we still miss him like crazy.

  • @hzierhut I feel so bad for you.

  • Aw!! Poor lady!! She's crying. Hopefully, they take those harmful products out.

  • Garic is also toxic to dogs and cats

  • I have used AVon Skin So Soft for over 30 years on my toy breed dogs , we have never had fleas, and i spray my shoes with it and haven't had a chigger bite in years ,,,, Their are so many natural ways to stop fleas and ticks , the public has just gotten to used to the easy way .. Sometimes the easy way is not the best way .

  • wtf if your product is dangerous, who cares if it has the least number of deaths. fu hartz.

  • I am an emergency vet tech of 23years and have been warning people about over the counter flea products (hartz is the biggest one) for years. If your pet shows any symptoms rinse your pet immediately! Use dawn dish washing liquid it will strip the skin of any chemicals. Then get them to your vet right away. I have seen way too many animals come in seizuring and end up dead! Please spread the word....just remember us what your vet would use, i.e Advantage.

  • I seriously don't understand why groups like the FDA or the PETA groups don't get involved with the testing of products on animals. I know a human life should come before an animals life on the food chain level only. How can a company market such a deadly product if it has been known to cause so many problems with our beloved pets? What are the effects on young or unborn children? If it were with our children would the outcome be any different, or is ANY life just that expendable?

    Debi in WI

  • Peta actually could care less.. They love it when pets die because they do not want people to own pets........It is the FDA's job to govern these products. They should be taken off the market. That particular chemical is used because it is CHEAP...

  • Not true, PETA has campaigns devoted to pet care stores, such as pet smart and Iams. They also have pages in their directory where they encourage healthy vegetarian pet diets and have links to direct people to purchase food products to support such diets in pets.

  • So? That does not mean the statement lohanaddict posted was not true,

  • Actually PETA has a huge anti animal testing campaign, look it up. They strongly support the label for non animal testing on products and have had Hollywood celebrities endorse this idea.

  • I made the mistake of using Sergents Gold flea drops after realizing we were going to be in the woods and I had not gotten Frontline yet, I purchased this at Petsmart, my dog had a seizure and took him to the emergency room where he had another seizure later that night, he was boarded overnight and then watched for 12 hours at my normal vet the next day, NEVER EVER AGAIN! It was the scariest thing!!! I nearly killed my 10 year old dog!

  • The BEST bug remedy for any animal, is Diatomaceous Earth, 100% natural and NON TOXIC to any soft tissue animal. use as a flea powder, kills ticks, fleas, cockroaches, flies, ants, etc. Please use FOOD GRADE only, it has even been reported to effectively control internal parasites except for heartworms when eaten! look it up and do some research. a product that is safe for pets, children, adults and even has health benifits if eaten!!

  • I have used DE (Diatimacious earth) for years and have no feas or ticks on my dogs or in my yard. It is a natural product that I buy at Lowe's in the yard section. It is for killing crawling and hopping insects. I apply it to my yard once or twice a year. It WORKS.

  • After 12 years, Hartz and Sargeants are still knowingly selling poison.

  • I use revolution on my cats. Works great. For my dogs I use Comfortis. It's a flea pill that works wonderfully. No listed side affects except possible vomiting. You have to give it with a meal.

  • I use Revolution for my two cats. It works really well and doesn't harm the cat at all!

  • how do you know is isn't harming your cat, do you have some sort of medical background?

  • It's horrible when my cat was little we used a flea bath & he was drooling, couldn't walk and was having difficulty breathing...luckily my boyfriend (now husband) thought fast & called the emergency vet and who told us to wash him again with just water to get that stuff off! Luckily everything it worked & because it didn't have time to absorb into skin. But he even has a bad reaction to flea and tick TX that the vet uses! They all have pesticides, it just matters the % of the toxic chemical

  • My cats nearly died a few years ago. It was a nightmare to see them seize and froth at the mouth. FRONTLINE is not a pesticide and can be used safely. NEVER USE PESTICIDES on an animal!!!

  • Thank goodness I never use that stuff. How can they use chemical found in poisonous bug killer products. Where are you US EPA?

  • I understand that they are two different chemicals but if you look at 1:20 on this video you will notice permethrin as one of the chemicals listed contents for pesticides.

  • I do not use over the counter products ever... I go to my vet.

  • what product does he/she use please? All anti flea/tick products I know of contain those awful insecticides, would love to learn about something I could use that's safe. thanks!

  • I just checked the contents on Advantix which is given by the vet for flea control and it has permethrin as one of the main ingrediants. Every time we have used this in the past our schnauzer starts twitching his ears and shaking himself off every few minutes for about a week after this is applied.

  • Thekaneguy- permetrin and pyrethrins are two different chemicals.

  • Our pet cats are indoor kitties -- the only way to keep cats safe is indoor life.

We had two dogs who lived long lives (15 + years). We made sure all vaccines/meds/treatments were done by our veterinarian who does not use over-the-counter products.

  • @sashaCanadian you mean indoor slaves right? you are a sick mother fucker, Sick peace of shit, fuck you bitch.

  • Disgusting how companies market products that kill. This video addresses products that kill cats and dogs. There are other companies who market make-up products that contain chemicals harmful to humans.

When it comes to my pets, I get nothing "over the counter" ever. Can't trust the products or the manufacturers.

  • cvfa- Look it up...garlic CAN be harmful to your dog.

  • Go to the vet and get a recommended procuct from them. I use and have used Heartgard and Frontline on my pets for years. They work wonderfully and I have never had any problems with any adverse reactions on any of my pets. They are family. Would you put flea spray on your child?

  • Best thing you can use believe it or not is garlic ! I would NEVER trust over the counter products - and I still hesitate ones you can purchase through the vet. Check out natural based products.

  • Garlic is a natural and safe way to protect your animal from fleas but if you do your research... It causes animals to become anemic. Animals digestive systems are not equipt to handle large amounts of garlic or other onion related items over an extended period of time.

  • I boil garlic in water - and let it sit and then I rub them down with it using a sponge ..... the smell is not so bad around humans but the fleas and ticks don't like it and they stay away.

  • there was a study done and the results were published on yahoo a few weeks ago ...garlic does nothing

  • Comment removed

  • I have never used any over the counter products for our 16 year old Cocker. We have a great senior pet vet Kaisa in ca called Newark Pet Clinic. She finds simple solutions, organic and offers good options.

  • For God's sake, why don't people just take their pets to the vet and get Frontline and Heartguard? It doesn't cost that much more.

  • OKay, I had more to say! If you use hartz for dogs on a cat- you will see these types of reaction, it will kill a cat. I have also seen severe hair loss in dogs due to the same products. I reccomend and use Advantage on all my pets and patients. And always use a soap free shampoo with these as well, read the directions too! Oh and don't forget about heartworm prevention either! Some can be dangerous to Australian shepards and colleys- ask your vet first!

  • Please use Advantage over these other products, over the counter flea prevention doesn't typically work anyway! I am a vet tech and Advantage is a lot more mild- less skin reactions, you can use a preventic collar for ticks (works great for 3 months!) Ask your vet always before applying products to the skin. If you use a product containing any pesticide there is a risk- the concern is, fleas and ticks can pose a more serious threat as well. It is a catch 22, advantage is safe for cats and dogs.

  • Prescription products like Advantix are generally much safer, though personally, my pets don't get any chemicals added to them at all. We live in Canada, not much flea trouble, but ticks are a concern. I just comb them after we've been to tick areas!

  • i dont understand why they dont take this stuff off the shelves.... my mother has a chiuahuah pekapoo mix, i mean shes a really tiny dog. she used the heartz flea and tick stuff you can get from walmart and places like that. its like it was instant, her body turned red and she began panting and drooling really bad. my mother sat for hours scrubbing her again and again to try and get the product off of her. thank god it worked shes still with us today.

  • In reference to Bio Spot, I don't know if it's related but I put a fly repellent product called Equi-Spot on my horse a few years ago and she had an adverse reaction to it. Threw the rest of the product out, never used it on any other of my horses and never recommended it to anyone.

  • these fly repelents have perythrens in them as well. so it is possible

  • K( Advantix gave my male whippet the worst skin reaction ever. I scrubbed him for 3 days to get that crap off. Frontline from now on!

  • I am SURE this is what killed my elder Chow Chow. And ALMOST killed my younger one. He lost all the fur on his back after we applied the drops.

  • My dog had a reaction to a flea product from one of these companies. Started twitching and couldn't sit still. Thank goodness he was okay after two days in the emergency clinic and $600 later. I complained to the company and they reiumbursed me for the cost of the vet bills. When I called the customer service number, they actually have a specific button to push if your pet has had a reaction to the product. Will never use this stuff again and don't understand why they're still on the shelves!

  • I was so upset in the previous post that I made an error. I meant to ask WHY are these products still on shelves???!!!!

  • This is sad...sick...sick....sick. What are these products still on the shelves???!!!

  • Thank God! It's on TV. Now to make sure it's picked up by others. My cat died 2 weeks ago < than 9 hours after I applied Hartz Control1 One Spot. It was a violent senseless death. First he had a skin irritation 5 - 6 hours after application. I washed him. But it was too late. He was gasping for air, mouth open, tongue out, then vomited a clear pinkish liquid, then had seizures, throwing himself around. He died in my arms on the way to the vet's. Get it off the shelves! Tell everyone you know.
