Good movie.Ray's done very Good job.The film would have been even better. But neverthless,Good movie. Can anyone say what's the song which starts @ 1:01
@quantumprogaudio That's the funniest shit I've read all day. So , it's "wrong" for an American to be proud of their Irish heritage? If a person is born in America and has Irish ancestors , their nationality is American and their ethnicity is Irish .There's a difference . "get over it" you worthless prick.
If you traced the fall of the Italian-American Mafia to one point, it would be 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio. Numerous trials were sparked by a war of bombings. In the end, those cases produced unprecedented defections that culminated in historic convictions. The origin of the whole thing can be traced to one man, an outsider, in pursuit of power and fortune—an unlikely hero who came to be known as the Irishman. From the book .
@RickPorrello great film gonna buy the book tomorrow cant wait to read it...i agree danny green had an influence on the start of the decline of the mafia..but surely donnie brasco aka joseph pistone evidence he gathered while under cover was the greater influence..together they created the spark that took down the mafia. i thought pistone should have got a mention in the bonus features on the dvd...i agree danny started it but a couple of years later pistone landed the killer blow..please reply

Can't wait to see this movie at fillmsi.co.cc. The book is one of my favorite of all time. Hopefully they didn't do a disservice to it. This looks like a great movie and anybody else who thinks other wise is ignorant and unamerican!

This was an awesome movie! And I only use the word awesome because there is currently no word to accurately describe this movie. I watched it on fillmsi.co.cc. Not that it was just that amazing, but because it was so different.
LOL i agree. i keep watching this trailer and thinking "This could be EPIC!!" then i think this could also be epic fail... i hope its epic! I will check it on fillmsi.co.cc today...
"Near the street, Danny would sit bare-chested on a lawn chair or wooden bench, making himself an easy target for his enemies while waving to his admirers. Some of them were needy neighbors and recipients of Greene’s generosity, such as a free turkey during the holiday season. Not since the Prohibition-era days of Chicago's florist racketeer, Dion O'Banion, had there been such a powerful and colorful Irish-American gangster." FROM the book, To Kill the Irishman
Ive read the screenplay. Everyones mentioning how its impossible a few people can take over the world (or even america) and, yeh, it is. Course it is. Just see this movie on fillmsi.co.cc and enojoy it...
Hey, there is no distinction of being Irish. It doesn't matter what what continent one was born, you are Irish if your parents are Irish. Stop the B.S. with the "Plastic Paddy" nonesense.
"Licavoli and his cousin Leo Moceri became close friends with Jimmy Fratianno. Moceri, nicknamed “Lips” because of his thick lips, spent time in California, where Fratianno became a made member of the Mafia. The mobsters proved themselves as cold-blooded killers. In the years to follow, Moceri returned to Ohio. Licavoli eventually inherited leadership of the Cleveland mob. By that time, two unlikely outsiders wanted control. And they would kill to get it."
"If you traced the fall of the Italian-American Mafia to one point in time and one place, it would be 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio. Numerous trials were sparked by a war of bombings for control of the underworld... The origin of the whole thing can be traced to one man, an outsider, in pursuit of power and fortune—an unlikely hero who came to be known as the Irishman." From the book TO KILL THE IRISHMAN
I watched the film last night at the early screening on filmsi.co.cc. The best way I can describe the movie is "fun". It is directed more for adults, but doesn't go so dark to exclude children. It has humor, but doesn't make the character a clown.
This film is amazing ... yes it is. You can get it on filmsi.co.cc from now. There is another truth you must recognize clearly and believe me you'll feel much better: death and life are just the beginning to the person you'll continue to be for eternity.
This guy didn't drink. It's not the drunken fighting Irish men who are dangerous it's the fit, intelligent, driven ones with a sad background. If God didn't help them, no human therapist will. I know them. You won't see them coming. And if you do-boy, they don't care. You commit, you suffer on your own. Tough enough. Don't drag others into it.Took a long time for the Italian pupils to learn Christ's philosophy in a catholic school. They are adopted Irish now.

Not only were bombs being used in the Mafia war with Nardi and Greene, but they had become a favorite weapon in Northeast Ohio gangland. A Cleveland Press reporter dubbed Cleveland “Bomb City, U.S.A.” The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was so inundated with blast investigations that they tripled their manpower in northeast Ohio. From the book, To Kill the Irishman.
Despite mob boss Jack Licavoli’s great wealth, he was known for being cheap and occasionally foolish to the point of embarrassment. Once at a local mall, he was detained by store detectives for switching the price tags on a pair of pants. After hearing about the background of their shoplifter, the department store manager shuddered and declined to prosecute. Another time, Licavoli was caught putting slugs in a vending machine. From the book, To Kill the Irishman.

I actuall know both grandsons of the men. Paddy green who i party wit ha bit and my girlfriends ex bf matt owen. and the dino's resturant he died in, is only about 10 minuts away by car. its crazy that i never knew all of this!

I try and love em' my church dictates that I should but I sincerely HATE Italians and italian families! They all talk the talk but don't walk the walk and it makes me mad!!! Stick with the British Isle's. tried and true as bue! ;)
Irishman’s assured, pounding, straightforward approach should also deliver to those easier-to-please, Word of mouth and critical support should kick in to drive discerning audiences into seats. Doris Toumarkine, Film Journal International
Really looking forward to this movie, whenever it is going to have a general release. It is quite the story and it is long overdue, the book was a very interesting read. It is ashame that it was not filmed in Cleveland though.
Maybe someday they will do a movie on the war for Youngstown between the Cleveland and Pittsburgh factions. Like Greene is the central theme of this movie, Traficant would be the central bind for a Youngstown film. One can only hope.
I just wish the movie was filmed in Cleveland and not Detroit. Don't get me wrong the Long shots are of Cleveland. O n Danny didn't die in the inner city it was on Cedar Rd I think, and as far as I know he NEVER threw a bomb in a cop's car, other than those facts. Gr8 Movie!!!!
@MichelleJ817 your right michelle he died at Brainard and Cedar rd on the north east corner it is a big medical building right before you get to 271 if you are coming from the east on cedar
The movie was so good. Firstly, because it's real and it is so much fun to see actors truly enjoy what they're doing - the "play" of doing a play, making a film wasn't lost!
@eliteguard775 this is a true story about the Cleveland mob I lived in Cleveland for 12 years and my dad lived in collinwood and always told me stories about this guy, This movie is gonna be awesome.
@Kristionmeds My family knew as a friend to my dad and my Grandfather was an FBI Agent and investigated the crimes committed between Danny Green and the Mafia.

The movie was so good. Firstly, because it's real and it is so much fun to see actors truly enjoy what they're doing - the "play" of doing a play, making a film wasn't lost!

My daddy met Danny Greene and his friends at my uncle's casino in Solon.
He said that you would never know that Greene was a wise guy by the way
that he conducted himself.
Greene sure looked different in real life!
I was in seventh grade when he got blown up by Carribia.
Guess who Carribia's lawyer was? Carmen Policy.
