Before the first expansion (Burning Crusade) 'big' WoW raids (MC, BWL, AQ40) were capped at 40 people and 'small' raids (ZG, AQ20) were 20 people, as opposed to the current 25/10 model. Naxxramas was originally the final raid of pre-BC (or 'vanilla') WoW, and thus was a 40-man raid. But since very few people actually saw it due to it being so far in progression, they decided to bring it back as the first raid of LK by moving it from EPL to Dragonblight and re-tuning it for 10/25 80s.

For melee DPS you can stand more to his side instead of straight behind him so you are DPSing at his inside rear flank, it is enough to avoid the clouds for the most part and still be able to hit without parries

ive been in an amazing raid but we were stuck on this guy. dps didnt dps the slimes and the OT (me) had 4+ slimes at a time. we wiped because the healers got the injection, stayed in the middle and let it drop there, and died in he cloud it made. we gota work on that...

i always just pick them up and tank them, while all dps burns them down...as offtank if i get the injection i just take the slime with me and continue beating on him, while ranged dps continues hitting the slime and i do my cloud drop off, and resume

yes the OT should take them a little bit between the raid and the main tank because of the AOE but they shouldnt be alive too long as dps shifts when they spawn

Tanked this fight tonight in a 10 man on my DK for the first time and thanks to this video I was successful.

The guy who does the voiceover for this is really elaborate and clear at explaining this encounter. 5/5 stars.

This is one of those encounters where you feel really dumb losing to him. As long as everybody's paying attention to their debuffs and drop the clouds in the right spot you really won't have issues with him.

Also, although it's not covered in the video, another good idea as a tank is to set your character to RP walk and just moonwalk around the edge. That way you're moving so slow that by the time you lap back the clouds are gone.

This encounter is easy as long as everyone drops their poison clouds at the right spot. The tank will kite grobb around the run so every time you get the debuff, you need to drop it behind grobb..The tank will be backing up, getting behind him means the tank will have to go through the cloud...If you can't see the clouds and gaps that are behind the boss, turn you spell detail at least a bit and do yourself a favor and get DBM, a useful addon for this boss, which marks the ppl with the debuff

basically it means you want to be near an area which already has a poison cloud by it preferably one that just spawned recently so that when the debuff is up ( when u cause another poison cloud ) it would be in an area that is already inhabitable.

im pretty sure thats mik scrolling battle text, its like SCT but has some more things like a spam filter (so you dont see things like [Rampage] [Rampage] [Rampage] every 3 seconds when theres 2 or more fury warrs in a raid and each buff keeps going over the other warrior's buff)

All pets can spawn adds if hit But they are always behind the boss sence blizzard added the pet mecanic were the stay behind the target. So warlocks, hunters and now unholy death knights don't need to worry about your pets creating spawns.

I would be much more interested in seeing this encounter from a OT point of view. The organisation and allocation of poison clouds seems to be a lot more difficult than the (glorified) MT that mainly has to be sure that he back peddles the required distance with clouds and using CD's as required.

Instead we see the a vid of the MT (as said) back peddling with Grob~'s big gut blocking what the equally important OT's job is.

tis very ahrd for an OT in this fight, all our attempts have been unseuccesfull, were finding him the hardest boss in naxx at the moment so far, the problem is we seem to have about 3 people with the mutating injection debuff in the time Grobbulus deposits his own aoe nad it's so messy.

It's just practice, really. Once you get used to where your abilities are hotkeyed, you can start to move around while still attacking.

I usually put the abilities I use the most on the hotkeys closest to the WASD keys, but I guess it's up to you.

My guild was recently attempting this, but unfortunately we had many melee dps. Our off tank paladin would take on the adds while our DK kited the boss. The healers were in the middle, and when someone got the disease, they would run to the stairs area where there were open areas, and no players, as the DoT ticked off. After three wipes we stopped for the night, though I don't know what was wrong. Can anyone provide any input on this situation?

I MT this fight for my guild.

Basically I move him pillar to pillar, leaving my dps/heals in a line behind the boss, but not in the path of the poison. We do this so they don't have as far to run and I pull him that far apart so they have plenty of room to drop it off. Especially the last 30% he drops poison injections quite often so the extra room I leave and them being close to the line makes it easier.

I kinda beg to differ on the 4 dps thing, our group was comprised off "half-naxx geared" players, and we managed to dps down to 40% on our first try in roughly 4 minutes, and the dps would have stayed the same despite the pick up in speed of injections at lower percentages, due to talents that increase damage as targets health goes below a certain point. This was all with 5 dps, 20% "difference", though there is some more safety in 4 heals. eitherway, the enrage timer gives lots of room at 12.

Your points are valid, but I still don't think that you could 4 man this boss from start to finish with 4 people.

The max amount of dps classes you could have with 4 people would be 2. Even with the buffed tank damage it would be nearly impossible to put out the raw damage needed to bring him down in 12 minutes.
