I don't quite understand how such a rakish young waif could grow into such a bulbous, bespectacled behemothic blob in just 9 short years. The transformation from beautiful, preening flower into epic planet-eater is unimaginable. And you're crap at scoring points, Laycock.
this uni challenge is the up most nerdo crap ever created, I mean I can only keep up with half the questions, but still... u English people need to get a life
Hi ry91an, yeah we're the top 4 as determined from a general knowledge test. Well, top 5 - a reserve is picked on standby too. Different unis have different ways of picking their teams, but this is the most common method.
Once you've got a team you have to be in the top 28 of the 250 or so who enter each year. Easier said than done when half the teams are usually Oxbridge colleges! The production team run auditions with a harder general knowledge test at this stage.
As if this wasn't enough he went on the Weakest Link and won, AND went on Millionaire and won £250,000. So he has quite an impressive game show record.
You looked like the only actually university-aged person of both teams! The two guys that got them all right were about 40. Of course they're going to have more general knowledge (to make a sweeping generalisation, but still).
I presume you meant to say, "not very academic, is it?" The music's never going to please everyone, but it's designed to dramatise the event. If you think it's unnecessary, fine, but I do not - and seeing as I uploaded the video, it stays. But thank you for your comments.
No, I meant to say, "not very academic, is it!" There is no need for a question mark as I'm not asking you a question, which requires an answer...I'm merely making a statement. Admittedly, I should have placed an exclamation mark at the end of my original "not very academic..." statement which would have more punctually correct. Thanks for your reply and for the video.
Look at the grin on Paxman's face when he says "Marmite is right". It's my redemption; a new dawn. If that game was 55 hours long we'd have won and that would have been the turning point.
If the game had have been that long, I would have leaned over and hit Kidd in the face for being such a smug git. Frankly, it's a good job I couldn't see him from where I was sitting.
Surely most people would smile, or at least look slightly happy when they get a question right, rather than looking like they've just beaten up a child and stolen its BMX.
If it weren't for my "sheep" we quite possibly may have been the lowest scoring losers in University Challenge history - fact.
In reality, I could trace that back to walking into Virgin Megastores a week earlier and buying the best of Rolf Harris, which contained an explaination of the term jumbuck. Thank you Mr Harris - is there nothing he can't do?

Kidd actually appeared on Mastermind after this - The Who was his specialist subject.

Well I think you did great Craig, you gave it all you could. A good match there I enjoyed watching it when it was on TV.
And nice choice of music there with Chateau I must say.

Craig, did you happen to catch the University of Liverpool against Leeds the other night?

A good video spoilt by music

I think the music's quite good actually.

The Uni Challenge vid itself is good enough without spoling it with sensationlist music. Not very academic is it.

think yourselves lucky you were not playing an oxbridge team. JP would have cheated you into a lower score as usual

Man, that Kidd is an ass...thrashed you guys.
Headbanger14 5 years ago
No disrespect, but Kidd is probably the reason why Leeds made it all the way to the semi-finals that year.

good video . sometimes i watch it . I just really hate it - when they are thinking of a question and paxman goes " come on"
