I'm proud to say I'm DOGTOWN born n bred. These guys were very real..their style was incredible, their attitude was strong,u had to be back then,or u wud get ur ass kicked.they all molded as did south Santa Monica, 2 the person I am today.surfers and skaters today of all ages, this is wat its all about.
This video is not "only for Americans". Holy shit, what's wrong with you? oO Skateboarding isn't all about your origin and neither is watching this video. So please stop these dumb discussions about nationality and just ENJOY the video. Thank you.
@mrfbgm123 I think the point of this is that the Z-Boys were a sub-culture, not indicative of what their generation was as a whole. Look around a little harder and you'll find some interesting people today. Much better than being nostalgic about how great the 80s were.
after watching this documentary I hang my head in shame whenever I see the skaters of this generation, totally BS skating for chicks and popularity. Skating is an art form, it has to come from your heart, not your hairstyle or your clothes.
haha you look at the dude looking all nerdy with the glasses and you would have never guessed this nigga was hardcore. Awesome!! i will never judge old dudes again.
@mrfbgm123 It's okay...we had our parents all over our asses...and they left us all facing the debt-slave life. This era was my youth and we were still free. Don't let the guys fool you. We all were so much more innocent than the generation in which you're growing up/have grown up. We have had a bad ass attitude but it wasn't the same as now. Now you've got the cops to worry about...we get it and still love you. Peace.
This segment would make an awsome movie, about pacific ocean park, local only violence, injuries, I love urban decay, these guys are like the warriors on surf boards.
I seriously hope that some of these blokes got slapped silly for surfing someone elses spot .I hate all this " this is our spot dude " shit . Get to fuck ill surf where I like its a FREE WORLD
some of these guys were hippie hollywood sponsored fags. the real hardcore surfing revolution was going on in orange county and santa cruz as usual. just like hardcore punk rock and skating. VISION STREET WEAR and santa cruz started the hardcore skating, steve olson duane peters, etc. those are the really crazy guys and the first to skate to punk rock.
@TheNewMusicNetwork thankyou, someone who knows there shit! i'm from laguna and lve in venice and its so easy to tell what fuckin kooks these guys are haahha
@thedereklee9 glad i could help. never believe the hype, especially when hollywood wants to make a movie about it. there's a reason why there's no real hollywood movies on the hardcore punk scene. because they can't hippie it up enough and make it safe. so this doc should tell you to research more to find out who the first skaters were to listen to punk rock, it wasn't these dogtown fools. it was peters, olson(first skaters to have punk bands too), etc. read the documentary american hardcore.
Don't complain that modern shit sucks and stop wishing to go back to the 70's or bringing back their stuff it's never gonna happy just focus on making what we got now the best it can be and using it to the max that's what they did back then and it's what we should do now that's how we make history
stop complaining, just buy on oldskool board on ebay, they are like 15 quid. and go out and skate, we need to re-ingnite the spontinuity of the 70 and 80's.
im a blader i been blading since the early 90's......but i always loved the dogtown shit if it wasent for them none of uo skaters skatborders bikers wouldbe where we are at today
@snoopyboy101Yes the long boarders are really kicking up dust...and there making the smaller boards now and all ages are doing it..."the Manhattan" is a sick little board...and that's before the up grades.
@jonisafreak3 To small for what? for me its either the Manhattan 27 or the terrapin 34 any thing longer is just to damn easy to ride unless your just flat out speed boarding(straight down hill at 50plus) not styling i for one like to get rad or quit!
@nocknights Haha it could be me and my massive feet but i wear a size 11.5 - 12ish and sometimes when im pushing or doing shit on my manhattan ill miss putting my foot on the board or ill get my foot on slightly and then have it slip off and bust ass. The kind of board i really wanted and still want is either an alva board or like a bigger version of the deck of the manhattan, it would be easier if i wasnt broke though...
@jonisafreak3 Yeah, I'm like a 8 1/2 but i find being flexible really helps and knowing your board like where to plant your feet, the proper shoes that will grip the board, so you can throw your weighty into carves and sharp turns like at 0:26 when the that one guy coming out of that hard carve, he bent his knees and the surf board stayed under him...but dude you'll eat tar on any size board its the unfriendly part of skateboarding.
@coyotedv93 It sounds like something from,I believe Dick Dale(I'm a little buzzed so I may have his name wrong but look it up and get back to me if it is)
Why should we have any respect for sociopaths who laugh when they think back and tell how they threw things at other surfers to kill them?
