Actually he ascended to a higher plane of existence, which is in many sci-fi shows, the final stage of sentient evolution. Don't get me wrong, I'm opposed to the whole idea of religion, but the show has so much about false gods, I'd like them to try explaining how the Goa'uld "god's" are more false than earth's.
