Tch. What makes the Nerd so mad is that the garbage he reviews cost people money. He doesn't hate on everything, and a fair bit of entertainment value comes from the sketches. He also doesn't actually take it too, too seriously (though he does do his homework on the games as best he can) because he's a sendup of the professional critics who aren't capable of seeing good in perfectly good things and do take themselves way too seriously.
