And..seriously--read a bit more about a particular style before you knock a practitioners weapon. Wushu blades are light for the performance style they are used for. Wushu forms are based on but not totally traditional. Also the snap is for judging purposes as well--not just show. Where is the love:)
I wish the world of Chinese Wushu would stop using those flashy/flimsy blades...aka tinfoil blades. they flash and make noise and are pretty much all about show. other than that it's a great routine, and rarely seen.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to use a totally-combat ready weapon... no need for a super sharp blade... but at least have a rigid one.
