this is my favorite episode (so far) of season 2 as well :D mostly because Spike is my third favorite character on the show (sorry Spike, you'll understand when I say Rarity is the best pony). unfortunately when you tell others this it immidiately comes off as a shipping-aspect, which for me it's not... I just loved the episode as a whole

But I think Spike DOES age because Zecora says his greed makes his growth "speed". Plus Spike's voice sounds about 12 years old to me, which would be fitting because it looked like Twilight hatched him when she was about 6 (and I always assumed she's around 18 when the show takes place). I assume he's called a "baby" because dragons live, like, a thousand years, so being 12 years old in human years (pony years?) would make him 1.2 in dragon years.

@Puglous The start is REALLY great, but it goes down hill from there pretty quickly and hits rock bottom at the ep with the Spike×Rarity shipping. Throughout it has it's ups and downs and it also depends on what you're looking for. If you're totally into shipping you'd say the series peaks at the afore mentioned shipping episode.

Definitely watch the first three episodes, those I can recall very clearly. The rest just didn't stick with me that much.

@Puglous Yup, to both questions. This episode just seemed like a bad fanfic to me, plus I REALLY dislike shipping of any kind in a series such as this. When you're at rock bottom, the only way to go is up.

But like I said, it's just my opinion. Other people may be really into the whole shipping thing etc. I'd say, watch it all, get an opinion and watch your favourite episodes over and over again.

If you ever follow the "ancient alien" theories and whatnot, a couple of themes pop up. A) Many aliens are (or at least appear to be) reptilian in origin. (Descendants of dinosaurs sPared from their apocalypse perhaps?) And B) Humans were bred to mine gold. Where these overlap, you can see where the hoarding dragon legends might come from. Maybe. :/
