This was the hardest to figure out by the map alone. Found myself riding around Mexico with the Rolling Block Rifle equipped hoping to see a weird shaped rock. Rest are relatively easy.

Each time you find treasure,you get a map.You can't just go to any location in any order! eg! Map 1 gold bar & treasure map 2 & so on! No point in rushing this game,cuz its fun!!!! Plenty of time to go back through it,before you get to the last levels.Lol

@Razgon12345 mostly around Armadillo, more to the area of Odd Fellow's Rest, but mostly you find them all around the game, just walk around, they appear randomly, just have an opened eye because they're pretty small and easy to lose

um. so...i completed the story mode, so that means i completed the attack on Fort Mercer....but the 'Inspect' still isn't popping up on my screen when I stand next to the rocks?

its a physics engine glitch. ride your horse to Escalera and you'll notice that you can only jump, not climb things like walls. take cover against a box/railing/wall that you can usually climb/vault and then climb/vault over it, then ride back to the rocks. VOILA, CLIMBING ANIMATION IS BACK

You have to sprint. When you climbing the rocks you can't just go up next to them and press your jump button, you have to be going some speed to get John to jump up the rocks. Just thought I needed to point this out.

I can't climb up the rocks either. Just keeps jumping up and down. Can't get up the fourth rock. Gave up after trying for 2 hours. Attempting this on the Xbox360, if it matters.

@quietwolf832 , i'm xbox too, and they're right, it IS pathetic why we don't know, but to be fair it nevers points out how and doesn't bring it up on the control page. i did mercer way back, so i didn't know if it was because i was waiting to unlock it or was just getting peeved that i didn't know: turns out you HOLD X while up against the boulder. i felt like such a goon when a friend told me, but DAMN, no one'd mentioned it before then!!! just hold x. feel like such a SPACECASE

how do you climb the damn rocks??? all my guy does is jump up and down when i'm trying to get to the second or third one, and there's nothing in the controls to tell me how or allow me to do so. i've already done mercer waaaay back, how do you get him to climb the rocks?

For the PS3 it was the square button all the way up. It took a while but once I found the path it was pretty easy.

@BlueberryVoodoo just take it slow. Don't just spam Square or anything. If you can't get up the rocks you are being hasty. Just walk up to each wall as far as you can go and then tap square once you are stationary.

@BlueberryVoodoo If you're on the 360, it's the "X" button. You just need to get in the right spot facing each of the rocks. It can be done. Look at the video to get an idea of where to climb up, from mpeterso01.
