  • I loved the movie Daphne so much I watched it three times in three days. As another person noted in the comments, "touches the gay issue very softly, very refined. " And Geraldine Somerville's portrayal of Daphne Du Maurier is so compelling, there is not a moment where her expression does not tug at your heart. Thank you for putting this together. I will save it in my favorites.

  • This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. They touches the gay issue very softly, very refined. Just love it.

  • I am the writer of Daphne and I'm sitting in a Ladbroke Grove kitchen with the director and the art director (of Daphne) - and we LOVED your compilation. You did a great job.

  • oh, I am pleased that you like my video.

    :-))

  • Hello everyone, The song is by Mychael Nyman - The heart asks pleasure first ( from the Lloys TSB commercial)

  • I have a question????? What is the name of the play that she writes and Gertrude Lawrence stars in? I want to study the play but i can not find the name of the play or if i did i need to know if it is the right play. Anyone can answer.

  • I believe it's called "September Tide"; she wrote it based on the character of Ellen Doubleday, with whom she was good friends with at the time. (almost to an extent of obsession...)

"September Tide" led her to a relationship with Gertrude Lawrence, so in a way, one bad thing (rejection by Ellen) led to a good thing...

BTW, i'd recommend Margaret Forster's biography of Daphne Du Maurier; it's a highly informative read.

    :)

    Cheers,

    Phantomunmaksed

  • Is the play September Tide available to buy in bookshops?
