Mines looks exactly the same as yours, I just got mine today, what did you use for a bubbles? Oh, and my bowl is a 0.82 gallon, is that good enough? And how often do you change the water?
I remember getting one of these for my 6th birthday and died when I was about 12-11. I'm thinking about throwing stuff out and getting several fish (including a beta). =P
@ScopedPewPew maybe you had allot of plastic in your aquarium or maybe you mess up the medicines you pout what aquarium do you have you need a proper aquarium from a fish to live long if you have a planted aquarium help the water to be better I had the same problem until I pout real plants then it stop

What you are doing is overfeeding it. The water quality of your tank/bowl must be asspoor. What I would do is feed it 1-2 times a day and fast it once a week. If you really loved your Betta you would NOT put it in an aquarium less than 5 gallons.
=__=;; this whole petsmart debate is ridiculous. It all depends on the store. The petsmart I buy from hires well trained professionals and keeps their fish in top condition. I've never seen a fish being neglected or a tank that was not well maintained. Stop judging all by the actions of the few.
okay can people stop responding to my comment? I mean its kind of annoying because lots of people have sad different things already like 1000 times so please stop replying to that messege!
we,betta fish keppers and lovers, need to try and stp betta fish fights and especially find a way to keep them from being posted because i think the more someone sees these fights the more they want one to fight as well. its cruel to thee animals and its just inhumane to take one of these poor animals and make them fight to the DEATH just for human entertainment. its just sick and crude. Try to pst this onas many betta videos as possible, including the ones with fighting bttas, and help stop it
I bought my betta, Enki, at petsmart. Where I live you have two choices; petsmart or wal-mart. Between how walmart treats there fish (my brother works there and says that he has never seen anyone feed or change water or anything!!! >='O they treat them like canned products!!) and how petsmart is, it's definitely better to go to petsmart. I'm just tellin ya like it is.
@RequiemOfSolitude i agree, for me its petco walmart or petsmart i have been a betta owner for almost 8 years now and have had a total of 5 males and 2 females in that time not including fred my current one and all of them lived well after i bought them, except for ethel the second female, i got her with fred and she died later in the week but she had a weird film on the top of her water which i have never seen before.
I work at Petsmart in the petcare area and I can tell you right now that as a HUGE animal lover I would NEVER work in a place that treated its animals as anything less then the best. We give them the best care we can possible. We never hestitate to take animals to the vet, isolate fish etc.
no offense but why do people discourage pet smart purchases? I mean thats a really retarded thing to do.I mean if you dont by the animals from them then the animals just stay there dieing in a small case or tank dieing sadly.I mean why buy a animal thats in a happy good home when you can buy a sad one and give it a happy home.
@robloxhector678 You know what, that is an amazing point that I never even thought about. I bought my bearded dragon from petsmart and he was close to death. I was able to get him help and save his life, now he is pampered beyond belief and is my child. Great comment, I totally agree, you have changed my thoughts on the matter lol
@ChristinaR5 well you have a point there but you see when the buying and demand stops they'll eventually stop selling those pets.. thank god i'm in malaysia and we don't have these chain stores selling pets.. i always get my fighters(betta fighters) from farms since they have top quality fighters(sharp teeth, good heart and tough scales)whereas pet stores have old fighters with blunt teeth and soft scale and they don't care for they're bettas.
@ChristinaR5@robloxhector : Both of you are smart and knows how to value simple things to have a bigger idea. its very worth to read all your comments.
@ChristinaR5 some of the workers arent so nice and they dont treat animals with care because they get new ones in every week or so like this betta there i saw last time had finrot so bad it had five tails!!! and i pointed it out about a few others too and they just ignored me!
@ChristinaR5 its a trap those petstores set for us. we feel so sorry for the weak lil animals that we buy them to spare there lives. but what is right. boycotting and letting thousands of innocent animals die to prevent its happening or just up and save them in the first place you know
@robloxhector678 I work at petsmart, and as a HUGE animal lover I would never work for a place that didn't treat their animals with the best care they could possibly give. Infact I do petcare at Petsmart and I can tell you first hand we give them the best, we never hesitate to take animals to the vet, isolate fish etc. At least at the store I work at.
@robloxhector678 because by buying the creature you are fuelling the economy of PetSmart and encouraging the sale and mistreatment of yet more creatures. THINK about it.. if people stopped buying from them, they would eventuallt go bust and have to refrain from purchasing and mistreating yet more stock.
@robloxhector678 Because, you don't want to support them. If you continue to buy the dying bettas(or other animals) who are kept in subpar environments, they will continue to sell them. If you stop buying them they will stop buying them or get better conditions. If we continue to buy "blood" diamonds, expect there to be wars in africa.
@robloxhector678 you are REALLY right i found my betta at wal mart i asnt going to get a fish but someone put him in the frezzer so i tld my dad can i have him he almost died but he all good know
@robloxhector678 Because every time you buy fish from pet smart they get more money to get more fish to kill. The best way to save the fish there is to not buy any fish from pet smart.
@robloxhector678 I totally agree with you. I think we all should buy the sick and sad animals and get them the help and happiness they deserve. But the reason people try to discourage the purchase from stores like Petsmart is because the more people buy the sick animals the more healthy animals they order then in return the new healthy animals get sick and die. Its a cruel cycle but its true. I still buy the sick animals because I cant over look them.

@robloxhector678 because it means you are contributing to the cycle whereby new animals come into that store and have to suffer. the whole practice should be banned.
@robloxhector678 is because most, but not all stores keep bettas in barley enough water to sit in, decomposing and...you get the point, the main reason is to show that your not getting our money and we dont support the way you treat the fish
@robloxhector678 I agree. Also, keep in mind that not all Petsmarts are created equal. Most of them are awful animal death camps, but the one where I live has a vet on duty during all business hours, provides good nutrition and stimulation for all the animals in its care, works with the local humane society to adopt out unwanted cats, and has very high standards of what animals can be sold. Animals that cannot be sold are adopted out to good homes that can care for their special needs.
@robloxhector678 I guess the idea behind boycotting a store is to cause it to go bust. but you have a valid point. it depends how you look at it. to be effective everyone would have to stop buying.
@robloxhector678 Because if the fish aren't being well kept in the store, then you really shouldn't reward the store with your money. It sounds cruel, but if you just keep buying the fish to "save" them, then the pet store will just keep treating them like crap. Sad but true.
@robloxhector678 That's what I was thinking when I got all 4 of my betta fish. 3 of them were so sick but I got them back up to health and they lived for about 2 years each, but the 4th one was so far sick that I couldn't save him. =( BUT my little Jack is a happy man who flares his fins n__n
@ChristinaR5 I work at Petsmart in the Petcare dept. and I can tell you as a HUGE animal lover I would NEVER work in a place where their didn't treat their animals with the best care. At least at the store I work at.I can't tell you how many times a week me and other employees refuse a fish sell or any other animal sell because we have doubts its a proper home for them. We never hesitate to take animals to the vet. We love the animals.
@kacietx Perhaps i am wrong then, I am not afraid to admit it. I only know that the petsmart where I live does not do its best with its animals. Keeping anoles in desert conditions and so on. It could just be that one store. I only know what I see.
this was in 2008, Did it all go well, i love hearing stories of successful Betta breeding, I recently bought a young male crowntail, he seems very happy, he's in a planted community tank with 8 neon tetras and 6 glow-light tetras, none of which he seems botherd about. Im just a bit concerned tho, i'm feeding him on flakes but it seems the tetras seem to notice the food first, just wandering if you had any advice =D Great vid btw ;)
I had a blue betta kinda like yours but mine had a single red strip on it's bottom fin.....sadly he died yesterday, pood Sushi.....rest in pieces Jin Sushi
Males always have the very large flashy fins. Females have regular-small fins not nearly as impressive.
Bettas can birth from easily 100-500 fry and the younger they breed the better, I hear....females must be removed after the eggs are laid and male gets removed from his nest after the fry are free-swimming on their own. After they grow a bit you'll have to put them in their own tanks or sell them immediately before the begin to fight each other.
@ChristinaR5 i have the same male betta too! question, where do u get a female betta, cause my male already made his bubble nest, and i want them to spawn, plz anwser n thx
@shamanfire324 If you get a female betta and put them together right away, they will not breed. The female as to be visible to the male while he builds the nest, and she must be able to see him in order to start developing eggs.
@shamanfire324 you can buy them at a local petstore.. they're not as common as males because females are not as beautiful as males... when buying a female make sure shes a bit smaller than ur male.. and to distinguish females .. they have shorter tales then males :P not that hard ! lol :3
This is a male fish right? It sucks..my female betta just died yesterday. She was red and her name was sparkle. I'm gonna get another one today though. Anyway, the name of your fish is yin. Yin and yang are the balance of the mind....something like that blah blah blah....came from a country in Asia. I am pretty sure China......but it may be Japanese. Anyways....Yin is the female balance and Yang is the male. You have a male betta, I think. Shouldn't it be Yang? Anyways..it still is a cool name.
@purplefrank I had no Idea that Yin was a female! I had two betta, one Yin and one Yang, you can see them both on my channel. Both of them are males as you can see, but if I would have known that Yin was a female I would not have named them so.
awwwww my betta fish looks similar to mine. My fish has a little bit more red at the bottem fin (sorry don't know what it is called) and my fishes tail is slightly longer too. Your is fish is soooo cute. My fish doesn't really guard his nest unless my laptop is near it or a mirrow of course. He flares at the fish net when i am trying to pick up the poop to do a 25% water change
@MoonlightRose89 Ooh ....I think that this is right. The one here I think is a male because of the longer fins. The females have shorter fins. Not saying that this is correct, I think it is though.
with other fish like mollies, to tell wether its a male or female, a male has flatish fins on the bottom of it, and a females fins are more spread out on the bottom of it
No, those are not eggs. Its a bubble nest that the male makes to entice females to lay. You can look up breeding videos of Betta fish to see how the egg laying is done. Its really fascinating.
Me and my sister both got betta fishes I got a girl names Rufus and she got a boy named Simon and he really loved Rufus when I put their tanks together he would Flair then start making bubble nests and Rufus wouldshow of her fins but then a few days later she died so we let simon say his last goodbyes to Rufus and eversince then he's been so depressed that he destroyed most of his fin but he stopped and I feel so bad...maybe I'll buy another fish for him! GOOD VIDEO AND PRETTY FISH!
Nice Betta, looks like mine.. Got him on tuesday, today i come home and he has been blowing bubbles i was so happy. That is a sign he is happy in his new enviroment. Glad i gave him a bigger home.
really cool! my betta looks alot like that. does anyone know how long it takes for the male betta to make a bubble nest after you get him?? please reply!!
no you don't need any plants that float. If you betta is happy or wants to breed, he'll naturally make the bubbles. Sometimes, bettas make little bubbles from when they breathe
mess with the fish, get the gills

At least at the store I work at.I can't tell you how many times a week me and other employees refuse a fish sell or any other animal sell because we have doubts its a proper home for them. We never hesitate to take animals to the vet. We love the animals.
kacietx 10 months ago
@kacietx Perhaps i am wrong then, I am not afraid to admit it. I only know that the petsmart where I live does not do its best with its animals. Keeping anoles in desert conditions and so on. It could just be that one store. I only know what I see.

this was in 2008, Did it all go well, i love hearing stories of successful Betta breeding, I recently bought a young male crowntail, he seems very happy, he's in a planted community tank with 8 neon tetras and 6 glow-light tetras, none of which he seems botherd about. Im just a bit concerned tho, i'm feeding him on flakes but it seems the tetras seem to notice the food first, just wandering if you had any advice =D Great vid btw ;)

my female betta is building bubblenest why?? can it change its gender?
aditya3david 1 year ago
Males always have the very large flashy fins. Females have regular-small fins not nearly as impressive.
Bettas can birth from easily 100-500 fry and the younger they breed the better, I hear....females must be removed after the eggs are laid and male gets removed from his nest after the fry are free-swimming on their own. After they grow a bit you'll have to put them in their own tanks or sell them immediately before the begin to fight each other.

He is a beautiful fish

@ChristinaR5 i have the same male betta too! question, where do u get a female betta, cause my male already made his bubble nest, and i want them to spawn, plz anwser n thx
shamanfire324 1 year ago
@shamanfire324 If you get a female betta and put them together right away, they will not breed. The female as to be visible to the male while he builds the nest, and she must be able to see him in order to start developing eggs.

@ChristinaR5 lol like sex through the eyes?
justxboredx3 1 year ago
@shamanfire324 i put mine in and they spwned immediately.get a female with verival stipes visible on her belly that means she contains eggs
aditya3david 1 year ago

Anyways..it still is a cool name.
purplefrank 1 year ago
@purplefrank I had no Idea that Yin was a female! I had two betta, one Yin and one Yang, you can see them both on my channel. Both of them are males as you can see, but if I would have known that Yin was a female I would not have named them so.

@ChristinaR5 yin ur blue betta is male female betta fins dont hang do like the the betta in this vid
Finaldestinyart 1 year ago
awwwww my betta fish looks similar to mine. My fish has a little bit more red at the bottem fin (sorry don't know what it is called) and my fishes tail is slightly longer too. Your is fish is soooo cute. My fish doesn't really guard his nest unless my laptop is near it or a mirrow of course. He flares at the fish net when i am trying to pick up the poop to do a 25% water change

hey, can i send u a pic of my beta so u can tell if it's male or female?
MoonlightRose89 1 year ago
@MoonlightRose89 yes of coarse
ChristinaR5 1 year ago
@ChristinaR5 ok cool! so i'll video it. u may not be able to see the white dot tho. but maybe u dont idetify it that way. i believe it's male tho.
MoonlightRose89 1 year ago
@MoonlightRose89 Ooh ....I think that this is right. The one here I think is a male because of the longer fins. The females have shorter fins. Not saying that this is correct, I think it is though.
purplefrank 1 year ago
u should get that betta a female and brayam the females have a white dot under them XD
willyoncod 1 year ago
with other fish like mollies, to tell wether its a male or female, a male has flatish fins on the bottom of it, and a females fins are more spread out on the bottom of it

check out my new fishyy! i made a video on him!

are those eggs?
and how did they get there?
mavetopgear 2 years ago
No, those are not eggs. Its a bubble nest that the male makes to entice females to lay. You can look up breeding videos of Betta fish to see how the egg laying is done. Its really fascinating.

how do i now if my betta fish is a female or male
brayam12345 2 years ago
Typically a male has long fins and a female has shorter fins. Males tend to be more territorial as well.
ChristinaR5 2 years ago
@brayam12345
the male have long and big fins and the female have little fins compared to the males broad fins.

GOOD VIDEO AND PRETTY FISH!

really cool! my betta looks alot like that. does anyone know how long it takes for the male betta to make a bubble nest after you get him?? please reply!!
sugar5123 3 years ago
to sugar5123:
well if your male betta wants to breed or is happy, he makes bubble nests.
bettaluver159 2 years ago
must you put plants that float for them to do that?
loganlover95 2 years ago
no you don't need any plants that float. If you betta is happy or wants to breed, he'll naturally make the bubbles. Sometimes, bettas make little bubbles from when they breathe
