In WW2 half the Soviet air force was comprised of American built P39s, P40s, B25s etc. as well as British built Hurricanes & such.

Then after the war a 1/3 of the Soviet Air force was the result of copying cutting edge designs intended for the Luftwaffe and ripping off American planes like the B29.
