Written by John Marascalco and Robert (Bumps) Blackwell. Elvis recorded it September 3, 1956 at Radio Recorders. Take #27 is the master. Elvis sang this son on his first Ed Sullivan Show apeparance on September 9, 1956, and he sang it often live in the 50s. This is the studio version, and it is available on Elvis, The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters, and Elvis 56, which is where this version is from.
Absolutely perfect job as always Jackie, 10 Stars. This is easily one of my most favorite songs that Elvis ever recorded. Elvis' rendition of this Little Richard classic should definitely be way better known than it actually is. Elvis is totally irreplaceable and truly a one of a kind.
Awesome song by the one and only KING!!!!!!

According to Art Rupe, this song was rejected by Elvis Presley, so that Little Richard recorded it.
