One night I was fishing this canal the fog rolled in and poured into the canal like milk 20' thick . My Buddie and I stood there the fog was so thick you could hardly see the other side. as we stood there I heard the sound of creaking wood and I looked to my left and an old huge sail boat with tattered sails floated on by us. sober as a judge No lights on it nothing. The hair stood up on the back of my neck as we watched it. "Do you see that I said to my buddy ? Yup I'm outta here he said.
@ Evan9201 I'm not kidding bro, I know how it sounds & Ive never EVER seen fog roll in like that since then, but it happened. It happened I swear on my fathers grave it happened just as I explained it to ya and he is buried at Otis National. Not to mention the tattered Schooner, The times ya wish you had a video recorder
funnyest moment of my life was when me and my gpa were fishin close to the maratime and he said to me "what are they chasing" i said "tinks" so he said to me " well looks like im usin the wrong lure" then he got the biggest damn hit ever... had to have been a 20 to 25 pounder.
MMMM good eating there folks I hooked into something in the canal ,that was huge hit my bait so hard I almost lost my pole in the canal but drag was soo loose I didn't picked pole up off rocks set hook then what ever it was got mad and took off spinning my reel so fast it looked to be smoking " just mist from the water" Imight not be able to stop this fish, submarine, Trident whatever it was and sure enough it never slowed down i tightened the drag to no avail before i knew it i was spooled
I haven't lost as many rigs switching to pyramid weights, and hardly fish top water unless I can stay down there a few days in early October to hit them at day break. That's about the only time I've seen them boiling that heavy on the East end of the canal.
treble hook rip it through a school or Herring... then toss out the lucky candidate that ya snagged with the treble hook and I can almost guarantee you a nice fish! ..... If you know what your doing!
i fish the canal every saturday night. I love it, there is no place like the canal. So many spots to hit and all close together. If you haven't been here you should come.......But don't take my spot!
I was fishing in the canal last june during one of those blitzes some of the best striper fishing i have ever done. If you get the chance this year go night fishing up inside scorton creek with eels ive taken some big fish out of there.
i was just up there for the last two weeks and caught loads of bass in there, the biggest was about 25lbs. its pretty sweet that you caught that on camera

@Jumpa01 You can't use river herring there and you don't need to use them for big fish. Watch my video, that fish was on a plug.
