You can get shade robes easy from the last level of security stronghold in the first room.

before, long like ago like in 07, you could trade shade robes and then they were no longer trade able

i was talking about ghostly robes...and you could never trade them...and even so like you said we havnt been able to trade shade robs since 06-07 but trade limit diddnt come till 07-08 or 08-09 so even so i dont think either or the robe sets were ever effected by a trade update, and if they were i dont think it would change their appearence like "weo1weo1weo1! stated

actually tahts wat a lot of people think, that u have to complete it but it actually isnt nessesary all u need is the ring from the quest so that you can see the ghosts in the mini-quest i do not think the requirements state that u have to complete DT quest first

Yes they do drop shade tops and shade bottoms but never shade hoods so don't try...
