Dude, I've heard aay I tried bout Iced Earth some time ago (actually just saw some dudes with their shirt on the street), today I tried looking out for their songs, and I guess I'm falling in love...
Strange production.. sounds like the instruments are pushed away and Ripper is the main thing in the song. But still, great song, great album, great band, beast metal.
@Skietemart I heard that IE have some problem with money at this time and they cant afford to have a great quality studio for this album. thats why this album sounds weird.
@wallaceuk00 Hey my friend..dont be stuck on the same things.Ok Matt was great but Ripper is greater as a voice.Anw..do not be stuck in musci. This is bad!
First of all, Iced Earth have been influenced by many metal movements (NWOBHM, thrash, power, progressive) but what makes them special is the passion, the belief in old school heavy metal and -of course- the voice of Barlow!
@9420617 I like Tim "Ripper" Owens from "The Glorious Burden" CD. It was a great CD! Some songs i think Barlow did better, and other songs i liked Ripper doing them.
@DeathMetalforever maybe you can name one band that sounds like old iced earth? Im having a hard time finding all these "average" bands they sound like.
@HorrorAngel666 well, my friend..I guess someone doesn't know their favorite artists that well... there are many many bands that sound like Iced Earth, maybe they are not as popular or old but they do sound similar (Demons & Wizards, Pyramize, Persuader, even old bands like Blind Guardian and Hammerfall and just like them are many many more kiddo!
I've been a major Iced Earth fan for the past 2 or 3 years now, and this is my first time seeing this video.
I am appalled at seeing Set Abominae in action in this video, he is no longer intimidating after seeing this, fucking terrible use of stop motion photography. If you watch Iron Maiden's music video for The Wicker Man, it's fucking awesome seeing Eddie brought to life, but this?! Set Abominae has been butchered.
Jon Schaffer, how the fuck could you have let this video go through?
@rikimaru517 From the video, i interpret it as this. It starts off with a man in the bar, a biker, a seemingly free spirit. Suddenly everyone vanishes from the bar except him. Everyone else in the bar is meant to represent the followers. The followers fall for and are fed basically bullshit and are told what to do from a demonic looking creature, and are therefore oppressed.
@Alayni01 But as time passes, they suddenly see through the demon's speech, and begin to think for themselves, breaking his hold over them and returning them to the free world. The free spirited biker was there all along however, because he represents the true spirit of freedom.
all i can say is i agree with theblackendone ripper does sound like dio on this record and this is coming from a life long dio fan ok im only 15 but my dad listened to dio from his elf and rainbow days and agrees with me and as a final note its a shame that they got rid of ripper coz he has a fantastic voice that suits the music perfectly
OMG how funny ya'll seem to think this song's about the revolutioary war ...it's not it's about the tyranny of a bloated overly large goverment that's outta control (cough cough washington cough). you know i fought for this country and i'd do it all over again but for crying out loud our liberty and freedom is starting to be curtailed at every turn, and there's no one to fight for us the people anymore. semper fi is for all of us not just us marines.
@meeowwmeeoww Starting to be curtailed? It started Bush/Cheney and the Orwellian named Patriot Act and has gone on from there. The Obama admini. is just a third term of Bush.
@ggArchez As much as I liked Owens - and I'm not trying to make an argument or controversy here (I'm simply stating an opinion) - Barlow was much, much better. Mainly because that's the Iced Earth so many of us grew up knowing. Owens couldn't even sing Barlow's songs; granted, Barlow couldn't sing Owen's either. That's what makes a band. Songs were written for the singer, not just for any asshole to cover. I think Stu is going to be able to do both of their songs good, though.
O who needs long hair?are you fucking serious Barlow is far better than better ripper is also good but barlow was better, now stu block i think that he will be great,so get ready to give him a warm welcome at the concerts!!
im guessing the people in the bar are the people who stood up to Set (who represents the tyrant our country faced during the revolution.) They guy who led the charge i think is the main guy riding his motorcycle through out the movie.
what also is interesting is SET is leading the charge on the Reckoning album art as a colonial soldier.
@DavidWoodMusic His style of music was a lot different to what had previously been done, in other bands however he's been brilliant (Though he has made some great stuff in Iced earth)
@ggArchez Owens was in a Judas Priest cover band, which means MASSIVE leather. Hate it when idiotic comments get thumbs up, esp in metal vids... thanks idiot.
Dimebag Darrell was once in a hair band fronted by Terry glaze and later, Phil Anselmo. In both cases its just no reason to hold anything against anyone i have mentioned, simply because they all just went on to be the best of the best.
halford doesnt need what? a whole army standing by to help him feel like a metal man?
on the other hand owens never needed that, he just always had the unfortunate luck of being the cunt who got stuck in the role of us as a band after we threw out the twink.
hahahha the old spice Joe , drinks beer and later go for big round of moto riding. Later....he returns to bar, and drinks again !! Pure heavy rock&roll rider

I agree completely. The song gets a 10 out of 10, while the video gets about a 2 out of 10. By the way, Tim Ripper Owens reminds me of a cross between Ronny James Dio and Rob Halford.
just found iced earth through them covering iron maiden & judas priest 2 of the best bands of all time now i'm really getting into iced earth they kick ass!
@TheAmeader yea 10,000 strong is badass i just got the blessed an the damned cd it's cool to hear the different singers! matt is my fav. then the ripper. this band is fucking great. i just found another band called metalium u should check them out they rock too.
@bashenbrian Night of the Stormrider is probably their best disc, but every album has at least a few great songs (though i havent heard the debut and Something Wicked part 2)
@gustman17 There last tour, played the best songs from each album. It was a great setlist. : Burning TImes Declaration Day Vengeance is Mine Violate Pure Evil I Died For You Jack The Hunter The Prophecy Question of Heaven Encore: Watching Over Me Iced Earth
@fullstack2 It's a great setlist! I wouldn't remove any song, but I would add a few more songs like "Stormrider", "The Dark Saga" and "Wolf". I really want to see them live but I dont think they play in South America (especifically Chile) very often :(
@gustman17 Dude when i was at the LA show there were a lot of South Americans there who flew over. I was talking to them. These guys were from Argentina. I think its real cool that in South America there is a bigger metal following. I would loved to have heard Dracula or Angels Holocaust.
If I hear anyone bitch about neither its mauden or priest thats the influence, I'll thereby declare you none-metal! METAL IS FUCKING METAL! Dont fucking argue about it!
As many comments on this video are about Iron Maiden, I may say it sounds more like Judas Priest actually. I don't know why this album got terrible reviews (including a low 50% average on MA page)
I'm not even American and I feel a little patriotic whenever I listen to this song, the message of freedom is universal. Awesome song, epic band, there's no denying the reason they call it "power" metal.
@Hyenashowl I am suprised they let Ripper go, since he gave them the high range that you know Schaffer just creamed his jeans over, since Iced Earth's entire MO is to become as close to an Iron Maiden tribute band as possible without aking it too obvious.
@Anjohl Oh what bullshit. Iron Maiden is close to my heart, but Iced Earth stands on its own. Schaffer's sound is just cemented into too many Iced Earth songs for anyone to replace him. But to compare Iced Earth to Maiden is doing a disservice to Iced Earth (and Maiden!).
@Negatyfus IE is awesome. I don't care what anyone says but Matt and Jon took alot of their stuff from the influence of Maiden. We wouldn't have Days or purgatory without it.
I understand that alot of people don't like to read the Bible.. I was those people at one time. I will never force anybody to do that. I'm just happy that I am able to worship the true living God. He is the Lord Most High.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me...
oh common, lyrics are great, with a really good message; but america is not the land of freedom... that's what you see on the tv, because actually you are a nation of slaves, you believe you live in democracy but you know it's bullshit. all what your government do is invade, destroy, and spare death and misery around the world. Not blaming every american, but somehow bush and many other fuckers were elected many times.i mean, this lyrics are really good, but america is not the standard for freedom
We need to put the Bible back into public schools in order to teach our children and their children the truth. That was the founding fathers plan. To teach us that without self-control we are lost. No other government as last this long like America. Not Fance, Russia, Italy, Germany, or China.
Also, it's not your or our governments place to tell anybody what to believe. We were founded upon religious freedom. Besides that, school is a place for learning, not for worship.
@deportivoamore Its with idealisms like that many of the wars and mass murdurs of this world begun, do u seriously believe that EVERYTHING the founding fathers said will be logical years from now? It is the idealism such as that listening to whatever your government says they be of past of present with out question that lead to the crumbling of nations such as Russia and Germany.
I like this song. The States has the same government because the founding fathers believe that this country can only prosper if we hold on the teachings of the Bible.
"When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?"-Psalm 11:3 & For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.-Psalm 11:7 Without the teaching of the Bible, no nation or government will last. May our Lord bless America!!!! :)
This is like the only band i would put into a playlist with Iron Maiden. They just match so perfect together. I am a Maiden fan to death so of coarse I like them more but Iced Earth is very damn close.
Jon Schaffer has a new solo project called Sons of Liberty. If you're a fan of Iced Earth, you should definitely check it out (sons DASH of DASH liberty DOT net)
With the upmost of respect I feel the need to say : if you go and make video clips like this one... please just don't, a big waste of time imho. Cheap ass shit :( not worthy of the music
@monkeyofundeath: I was talking about the political party. Did you know that or are you just that stupid?
The action of "Liberalism" can be either left or right. Two such examples of left and right liberalism are George Washington for the right and Vladimir Lennon for the left.
But seriously, forgive my ignorance. I'm just annoyed at the fact that most Americans I see hate the left side of the spectrum with a passion, often without understanding what it means, whatsoever. For example, all the people that think Barrack is communist for trying to help people with government-controlled healthcare.
Yes it does. They call themselves Democrats. Most good Democrats ended with Bill Clinton.
I agree with you about it being stupid hating a poilitical side without knowing why. Democrats do it as much as Republicans do.
Obama's health care plan is one of the stupidest ans most waste of money ever.
The reasons why it will not work is because there is too many people mooching of the government who dont give anything back so we dont have the money. So how will the goverment fund it?
Mooching off the government? So, keeping these people alive (thereby retaining or even increasing the consumer base of America) is a bad thing for the economy? Having more immigration, which is also proven to improve the economy by providing, again, a larger consumer base, and by filling positions and creating jobs.
Also, maybe if the U.S. government would cut back on military spending (an area in which it spends more than the majority of other countries, COMBINED) then America would have less of a debt.
And how is England's economy suffering? More than North America? I haven't heard anything about it.
And the healthcare system works reasonably well in Canada. In order for America's to be effective, the people need to stop thinking about healthcare as Communism.
@monkeyofundeath 1. "health care as communism" - that in and of it's self may not be communism, but it is big step down that road. 2. seriously, cut military spending? clinton did just that and look what happened 3. Englands economy is tanked, do some googling 4. if canada's health care is so great then why do some many people come here for specialized treatment? again google my friend
1. I realize that. But Communism is the EXTREME left, and that's only a SHIFT to the left of the spectrum.
2. Why not? To the rest of the world you guys look paranoid, and aggressive. It's like the "nuclear deterrent" argument.
3. I really didn't realize that--but now I know.
4. I didn't say it worked perfectly. There are a lot of flaws, like wait times. But, everybody in Canada has at least basic health care, meaning that we spend a LOT less to get better.
@txwildflower45 Dude Canadas health care in my opinion is the best and or goverment does look after us health wise....i had cancer for a year and a half and my familiy cant afford the treatments costs of around 10 - 50 grand a month....Our health care paid for all of it...all i know is if i lived in the states i woulda died cause of the treatment costs.
@txwildflower45 they go there IF they have the money dude i mean nothing against any of your veiws but health care is good because it allows for people who arnt rich to get help whereas in US if u can pay u will get the better treatment which is why when rich Canadians get sick they go to the US. Also just cause its a lil left wing dont mean its communism no need to worry bout a commi invasion from the north my friend
By raising taxes. Another major reason it wonk work is that we have too much immigration. Also doctors will make less money so they will not like it and loose ambition. Its been proven with countries such as Australia and England that it just doesnt work when you have those problems. Honestly. Would you want to do 8 years of college and pay much to make little?
metal or not plictical or not it does not matter it's good music. and that much is all that matters anyone diging deeper is just looking for sumething to bitch about...
I like metal, and all forms of music. as long as it strikes me when Im in the mood, Ill listen to it. But heres a thought....Is there a possibility that these so called "genres" we're created by the fat cat corporations to seperate the people? (much like professional sports teams) This whole "You're (emo, punk, metal), so you suck" mentality certainly creates divisions among the people. Am I the only one that can see this happening?
Just think. When people were saying "rock" or "heavy metal" or anything similar back in the 60's or 70's, it was merely media using words to describe the music. There was no such thing as "branding" genres on bands. It was just describing.
Nowadays people are way too anal about it. Arguing like: "this is metal". "No you idiot it's metal". "No you idiot it's progressive metal" etc.
except it makes organization a hell of alot easier and while 2 people can both enjoy metal they can like two differnt kind. even tho yes its all metal some people dont like certain styles. i dont think they give a shit about seperating people.
no such comment exists in the comments on this video, and it still doesn't change the fact that your comment about the content of this song makes no sense.

@fullstack2 It's a great setlist! I wouldn't remove any song, but I would add a few more songs like "Stormrider", "The Dark Saga" and "Wolf". I really want to see them live but I dont think they play in South America (especifically Chile) very often :(
gustman17 1 year ago
@gustman17 Dude when i was at the LA show there were a lot of South Americans there who flew over. I was talking to them. These guys were from Argentina. I think its real cool that in South America there is a bigger metal following. I would loved to have heard Dracula or Angels Holocaust.

We can't help but compare Maiden and Iced Earth. Even Lady Gaga is a huge Iron Maiden fan. It's no mistake that Iced Earth is as well.
Hyenashowl 1 year ago
@Hyenashowl I am suprised they let Ripper go, since he gave them the high range that you know Schaffer just creamed his jeans over, since Iced Earth's entire MO is to become as close to an Iron Maiden tribute band as possible without aking it too obvious.
Anjohl 1 year ago
@Anjohl Oh what bullshit. Iron Maiden is close to my heart, but Iced Earth stands on its own. Schaffer's sound is just cemented into too many Iced Earth songs for anyone to replace him. But to compare Iced Earth to Maiden is doing a disservice to Iced Earth (and Maiden!).
Negatyfus 1 year ago

Not Fance, Russia, Italy, Germany, or China.
deportivoamore 1 year ago
@deportivoamore UK, just to name one.
Also, it's not your or our governments place to tell anybody what to believe. We were founded upon religious freedom. Besides that, school is a place for learning, not for worship.
uthejew 1 year ago
@deportivoamore all what religion is enslave. religion is fear, and fear is control.
juanarkantos 1 year ago
@deportivoamore Its with idealisms like that many of the wars and mass murdurs of this world begun, do u seriously believe that EVERYTHING the founding fathers said will be logical years from now? It is the idealism such as that listening to whatever your government says they be of past of present with out question that lead to the crumbling of nations such as Russia and Germany.
SteelInvasionHammer 1 year ago
I like this song. The States has the same government because the founding fathers believe that this country can only prosper if we hold on the teachings of the Bible.
"When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?"-Psalm 11:3 & For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.-Psalm 11:7 Without the teaching of the Bible, no nation or government will last. May our Lord bless America!!!! :)
deportivoamore 1 year ago
@deportivoamore
Sorry to inform you, they based their values from their Religion but they made the country for the People, not for God.
For this very reason they perpetuated Religious freedom, as forcing ignorance on us would make us weak.

monkeyofundeath 1 year ago
@monkeyofundeath: I was talking about the political party. Did you know that or are you just that stupid?
The action of "Liberalism" can be either left or right. Two such examples of left and right liberalism are George Washington for the right and Vladimir Lennon for the left.
Idiot.
spacepope87 1 year ago
@spacepope87
So, you live in the U.S., right?
The U.S. has a leftist party?
When the hell did the end of the world start?
But seriously, forgive my ignorance. I'm just annoyed at the fact that most Americans I see hate the left side of the spectrum with a passion, often without understanding what it means, whatsoever. For example, all the people that think Barrack is communist for trying to help people with government-controlled healthcare.
monkeyofundeath 1 year ago
@monkeyofundeath
So how will the goverment fund it?
spacepope87 1 year ago
@spacepope87
They're not leftist. They're right of center.
Mooching off the government? So, keeping these people alive (thereby retaining or even increasing the consumer base of America) is a bad thing for the economy? Having more immigration, which is also proven to improve the economy by providing, again, a larger consumer base, and by filling positions and creating jobs.
monkeyofundeath 1 year ago
@spacepope87
In order for America's to be effective, the people need to stop thinking about healthcare as Communism.
monkeyofundeath 1 year ago
@monkeyofundeath 1. "health care as communism" - that in and of it's self may not be communism, but it is big step down that road. 2. seriously, cut military spending? clinton did just that and look what happened 3. Englands economy is tanked, do some googling 4. if canada's health care is so great then why do some many people come here for specialized treatment? again google my friend
txwildflower45 1 year ago
@txwildflower45
But, everybody in Canada has at least basic health care, meaning that we spend a LOT less to get better.
monkeyofundeath 1 year ago
@txwildflower45 Dude Canadas health care in my opinion is the best and or goverment does look after us health wise....i had cancer for a year and a half and my familiy cant afford the treatments costs of around 10 - 50 grand a month....Our health care paid for all of it...all i know is if i lived in the states i woulda died cause of the treatment costs.
reaper1414 1 year ago
@reaper1414 the cure for cancer is cannabis
liftdael 1 year ago
@txwildflower45 they go there IF they have the money dude i mean nothing against any of your veiws but health care is good because it allows for people who arnt rich to get help whereas in US if u can pay u will get the better treatment which is why when rich Canadians get sick they go to the US. Also just cause its a lil left wing dont mean its communism no need to worry bout a commi invasion from the north my friend
SteelInvasionHammer 1 year ago
@monkeyofundeath

I like metal, and all forms of music. as long as it strikes me when Im in the mood, Ill listen to it. But heres a thought....Is there a possibility that these so called "genres" we're created by the fat cat corporations to seperate the people? (much like professional sports teams) This whole "You're (emo, punk, metal), so you suck" mentality certainly creates divisions among the people. Am I the only one that can see this happening?
theswamprat1776 1 year ago
I totally see that happening. Your right on dude.
CrushJehovah 1 year ago
It's just music people
