Going stargate units usually isn't best vs a marauder army since it is really easy for them to go to vikings since they were probably working up to getting medivacs anyway. Immortal + Coloss is better since the only units they have available to them that are good against immortals are marines and thanks to their tech labs their production is slowed. With the colossus those marines go down as well, forcing vikings instead of medivacs, by which time you should hopefully have done lots of damage.
marauders aren't op, and they can't compare to stalkers directly.. every unit has it's strength.. e.g stalkers can also attack air units, while marauders don't.. etc... I really think that SC2 races are pretty balanced right now.. but what do I know, I'm just a gold newb wating to go plat :D cheers

However, as a silver protoss player wanting to go gold, I can say for a fact that marauder rushes are extremely difficult to hold off. Even after boosting out my first three immortals, they end up getting melted and I die.
Of course: an equally valid argument is that it's difficult to hold off four gates, or that it's difficult to hold off early void harass.

nothing is OP, there is a counter to everything in the game, its balanced completely fairly. Why do you think it's so popular? Because the game flows so well.
Zealots are actually good early game vs marauders when mixed with stalkers because zealots have a higher dps then stalkers and are more of a tank so if the marauders try microing against the zealots it would take forever to kill and by time they get close to killing the zealots the stalkers have done there work, and if they don't micro you just destroy them.
I think the problem is that Marauders have slow, which is a counter against zealots, and anti-armor bonus, which makes them equally viable as a counter against both zealots and stalkers...
however, tier 1, a combination of stalker, sentry, and zealot can work better than a mass, unmicro'd wave battle. You only need a couple of sentries to guardian shield an entire army, and that -2 damage really hurts Marauder DPS against light and marine DPS, stalkers can DPS while zealots tank marauder slow.

It is a suggestion to how you can stop early Marauder play, yet that some things can counter the counter as a protoss. Marauders are strong throughout the game, and their extra damage against armoured units makes them even more dangerous. But there are many things they can't do anything against.

I still like sneaking dark Templars behind the enemy lines while my ally distracts from the main gates. I use warp gates and the portable pylon thingy (I haven't played in a while and I forget the names easily)
Only reason i think marauders are unbalanced is because of the shear size of the unit in comparison with it's stats. A stalker vs a marauder, you end up with a marauder with 8 hp. In this video, you end up with around half of the army of marauders still living. What's the catch? Marauders are smaller by almost a factor of 0.5 radius. Meaning more marauders can attack at the same time by almost a factor of 2. Not counting stimpack, lighter costs, etc. I think re-sizing the units could help.
Zealots almost 1v2 marauders, this is a very shitty comparsion. In a real game you will have charge, you won't be in a choke and you will fight with much smaller armies.
@massdestruction97 Actually, 2v1, the zealot will get one kill and the other marauder doesn't get hit, IF there is a charge, if there is no micro involved and no stimpack WITH the marauder's slow. The ONLY way zealots can even stand a chance vs marauders is if you block them somehow (surround, stasis, pincer attack, etc.)
Most people won't let themselves get cornered anyway.
@massdestruction97 the game doesn't spell out to Protoss players that they need an extra tech (charge/blink) researched from it's own building to counter a unit that can get conc shell from the same tech lab for just 50/50. It's counter-intuitive: the natural thing is to assume that each race's basic units are balanced against each other directly. This kind of video is helpful to people who didn't know that already. Oh and when terran get stim they can kite chargelots too, lol lrn2play noob .

@blaekman my whole point was that if you have conc, you don't need to kite unupgraded 'lots, because they'll die before they reach you. FF requires that the player be looking at their army, have their army selected, have enough energy, press f, hold down shift and then click in the correct place. And you better have the right mix of zealots and sentries, in the right position. It's not noob-friendly. Conc shell helps a terran player defend even if a marauder is sitting in a bunker autofiring.
I'm a Terran player and I use marauders a lot, but this video has just given me tips about how a Protoss player could try and defend an early push of them

@HuskyStarcraft Would the results be the same if you were using fewer numbers in this demonstration? (Eg. Instead of using 100 marauders vs 100 zealots, use 12 vs 12, or some smaller number.) I think part of the debate happening here is that because the units are not able to surround, the marauders will always win.

marauders suck vs protoss, 1 force field in the ramp and you pel them from afar, and as soon as you see marauders, you see you can pick inmortals and back up with zealots, so you can go safely into collossus tech

Your one unit marauder is good against almost every one ground unit we have. Stimpack with marauders will own our units. Whining as Terran about Zealots is a very, very, VERY sad sight.

I said Zealots are hard to stop in early game because you most likely wont close against a protoss because ( if you really are a Plat you should know ) stalkers can hit your shit by shooting and you cant fight properly... So if protoss goes early zealot rush if you dont scout it it's very hard to stop as Marauders are slower to make and costs more and they need Vespene too, while Zealots are just 100 Minerals, here it ends "Plat"

Only reason i think marauders are unbalanced is because of the shear size of the unit in comparison with it's stats. A stalker vs a marauder, you end up with a marauder with 8 hp. In this video, you end up with around half of the army of marauders still living. What's the catch? Marauders are smaller by almost a factor of 0.5 radius. Meaning more marauders can attack at the same time by almost a factor of 2. Not counting stimpack, lighter costs, etc. I think re-sizing the units could help.

@massdestruction97 Actually, 2v1, the zealot will get one kill and the other marauder doesn't get hit, IF there is a charge, if there is no micro involved and no stimpack WITH the marauder's slow. The ONLY way zealots can even stand a chance vs marauders is if you block them somehow (surround, stasis, pincer attack, etc.)
Most people won't let themselves get cornered anyway.

@massdestruction97 the game doesn't spell out to Protoss players that they need an extra tech (charge/blink) researched from it's own building to counter a unit that can get conc shell from the same tech lab for just 50/50. It's counter-intuitive: the natural thing is to assume that each race's basic units are balanced against each other directly. This kind of video is helpful to people who didn't know that already. Oh and when terran get stim they can kite chargelots too, lol lrn2play noob .

@blaekman I don't think conc is unbalanced, I was describing how it affects marauders getting a reputation for being difficult to deal with. FF take micro, and new players generally suck at both micro and reaction time, which you need to react to an attack and place the FF quickly and accurately so they actually help you. Conc shell, on the other hand, is a benefit that doesn't require any extra expertise to use. So noob Terran players roflstomp noob Protoss players at the same skill level.

@blaekman my whole point was that if you have conc, you don't need to kite unupgraded 'lots, because they'll die before they reach you. FF requires that the player be looking at their army, have their army selected, have enough energy, press f, hold down shift and then click in the correct place. And you better have the right mix of zealots and sentries, in the right position. It's not noob-friendly. Conc shell helps a terran player defend even if a marauder is sitting in a bunker autofiring.

@HuskyStarcraft Would the results be the same if you were using fewer numbers in this demonstration? (Eg. Instead of using 100 marauders vs 100 zealots, use 12 vs 12, or some smaller number.) I think part of the debate happening here is that because the units are not able to surround, the marauders will always win.
Note: I don't even play SC2, but I played lots of SC and BW, and I enjoy watching your videos. I could probably answer this for myself if I did play but as it is...
