  • what do you think about using Zeolite in place of sand?

  • I have 2 questions. One is how do you know when its time to change sand and where do you get.

Also you say dont backwash until the water is trickeling back in. so do I hold my hand onderwater where the water comes back in and judge if diffirent form usual

  • Can you put chlorine tablets in the pump of the filter if you don't have a skimmer.

  • Nice videos my man....I just made an order with you guys...SPECIFICALLY because you guys do these helpful videos. I'd rather give my cash to someone who cares as much as you guys do....since you're looking to teach others and not just grab the money and run.....

    Great job..

  • why, would water come out of hose when filter is on? water keeps coming out of backwash hose. help!

  • Really useful video, I understand the whole process a lot better. I'm thinking of changing the sand in my filter for Crushed Glass. Is is any better than sand? are they interchangable? or do you need a special filter for crushed glass?

  • 2 things 1. There is another type of pool filter D.E. Filters. They filter down to 5 microns. 2. I've seen worse specs on a pool filter like the pentair clean & clear Cartridge it filters down to only 30 microns (terrible filtration for any pool.)

  • That was fantastic, I wasn't using "rinse" and had the dirty water going back in. Now I understand what's going on inside, it's great! Thanks!!!!

  • It's hard replying to customers on YouTube... limit to how many characters you can type and you can't put web links in the messages. The Aqua Smarte connects between the pool filter and the pool. It puts the chemicals and natural minerals in the pool for you. All you do is replace the cartridges. You can find a video on our site. Google "Family Leisure" and search "Aqua Smarte Chlorinator" on our site.

  • WoW finally an awesome explanation of how sand filter works, it all makes sense now, why i been battling with a cloudy pool thank you for taking the time to explain.

  • hi I have a sand filter and is brand new, question when do i have to turn it on, when people are swimming ,at night or everyday!! and also the water doesnt come out it get heat up is that a problem does it need a backwash o what wrong with it where do i go i never had a pool before so i dont know alot of pool

  • @SonidoTifanis The pump should run longer than it's off. Best to get an outdoor timer and have the pump shut off for an hour at night and an hour during the day. You can change that depending on the weather. Visit us at our Family Leisure website for all your pool needs. Here is a PROMO DISCOUNT number for 5% OFF all Pool Supplies with FREE Shipping! • I just got a new sand filter and the water is flowing real fast if you say its not filtering right the how do i make it filter better my pool water is not that dirty so is it because its so brand new do i give it sometime??

  • @404040c Is it a 1.5HP or 2HP pump motor? Yes, just give it some time. Most importantly keep your water balance.

  • @FamilyLeisure its a 1hp and a 16 sand filter takes only 50 pounds of sand its for above ground pools its a waterway too it seems to be cleaning my water isnt dirty or doesnt get cloudy should i still put chemicals in my pool because i saw someone on a youtube video where he says his sand filter makes his water crystal clear and that he doesnt put chemicals in his pool like i said my water looks real clear but just want to be sure im always checking the presure gauge and it stays at 15 it was 10

  • @404040c Don't over think it... I have a 27' aboveground pool with 3 kids and I never look at the pressure gauge. Your filter is doing its job, you just need to make sure to keep the water balanced. What will help is a product called (Pool Perfect + Phos Free). Put a cap full in your pool every week and your pool will be clear.

  • Not that I am pushing our products but like I said I have a pool and 3 kids. I also have the "Aqua Smarte" system hooked up to my filter. This way I only check the chemicals one time a week. The Aqua Smarte system makes it so easy and it uses natural minerals to help clear your water. All you do is put in a cartridge one time a week. Check out our video about the Aqua Smart system. If you are interested I will send you a PROMO CODE for a discount. YouTube/FamilyLeisure

  • @FamilyLeisure Im sorry but you kind of lost me aqua smarte do you hook it up to the sand filter oh and i live in san antonio texas your store is not far from where i live ive been their before i like your prices and your products are good and prices are real good yall always have some cool sales keep up the good work and thanks for this video helped out alot in understanding my sand filter and my water is so clear couldnt be more happy

  • lmao to the neighbors yard that was so funny

  • Thank you very much!

  • Im so happy I found your channel! I would like to know how do you know when to change the sand in the filter? I have had my pool for 4 years and they told me at about 5 years to change it. Is this correct and how do you check to see if the sand needs to be refilled? Thanks!

  • @lookinatyouto Sorry for the slow response. You should change your sand every 2 years. You don't want the sand to calcify during the winter!
