  • FUCK i bought my new motherboard with the same old fucking PCI express 2.0.......FUCK

  • I run Asus Maximus Gene-Z first gen...whats the difference between the old one and the gen 3? I heard it has pci-e 3.0.. is that it?

  • A zeus?

  • Thumbs up if you have a ASUS motherboard!!

  • ya the boot up very fast.....pravo asustek.........

  • @guidum69 actually it was sped up, look at the daughter board, that mini lamp is blinking faster when it is booting :)

  • @guidum69 It was sped up... -.- It's quite obvious, lol :P

  • Question?

Would a ATI 6870 or 6950 work fine with this intel based motherboard? will get under perform?

  • @0mega101 It will work fine!

  • Do you really need that massive expansion card jutting of the the board to run PCI-E 3.0? I can't imagine this fittin in any PC cases.

  • @SkillzKillzBR No, it's just a test card.

  • LOL all the people replying to guidum69.. you people really think he was serious!?!?!?! xD

  • @Astro247z I know right XD

  • @guidum69 yes you moron because its on a SSD

  • @guidum69 Video >> Fast Forward Genius =D Listen to the Sound and look at the windows logo when booting

  • @guidum69 looks like it was sped up, the boot animation isn't that smooth, even with an ssd. I would have liked to see the real bootup (which would probably last like 15seconds).

  • So, PCIe 2 = read 400 write 210 while PCIe 3 is read 547 write 209. Is it just me or does that sort of suck? Shouldn't PCIe 3.0 be double PCIe 2.0?

Seems like we really need SATA 4.

  • 1. Next time use 4K performance as a gen3 vs gen2 comparasion, regarding SSD's not sequential read/write, and dont use Crystaldiskmark its for HHD's not SSD's.

    2. You got Ivy Bridge there? because on current processors GEN 3 is useless.

  • @26psyside That's right, in order to have true PCIe 3.0 support everything in the chain link must be PCIe 3 or it's only as good as the weakest link in that chain. So, mobo, chipset, CPU and GPU must all be PCIe 3.0 in order to have true PCIe 3.0 support.

  • ASUS P8Z68/GEN3 is a kick ass mobo

  • Good jobs ASUS.

  • @guidum69 hells yeah! i noticed that too.

  • Asus is still my favorite Motherboard Manufacturer. I've been using them for 8 years now.

  • Your copy of Windows is not Genuine.

Anybody else see that in the bottom right?

  • @jonxor 2 seconds work to make it genuine:)

  • @jonxor Microsoft should sue them =O

  • 985.7 Mbs on my Raid 0 Corsair GT 120Gb's

  • I'm bloody hungry now.

Every time you said PCI Express I kept hearing Pizza Express!!

  • This is the first time I have seen a PCI Express Expansion card

  • My ssd setup is faster than that.

  • the write was actual the "same".. one mega slower..

  • That CANT fit on my Tower! XD

  • Sigh kids. you cry when they don't do something, you cry when they do. grow up.

    Bought a GENE-Z 2 months ago... :-(

  • That has got to be the dumbest thing i have ever see. Sorry Asus.....got caught with you pants down this time.

  • @ownTer well said.

sense when do company like asus have too put videos like this shit just to prove that

they have working PCI-E 3.0 and second of all why make video of something that we don't need yet.

We don't have graphisc card that ned pci 3 yet.

  • @bmwMoMmo But on the other hand...there are many more uses for PCI 3.0 other than GPU's. HD's as the video shows have a massive improvement. Courious to see what els can come of this. A raid 0 set up would just FLY.

  • @ownTer

So what´s the dumbest thing here? The add-on card you´re watching is only to do the tests from PCI 2.0 to PCIe 3.0 with the OCZ Revo. The PCIe Gen 3 IC is directly on the MB, not in the Add-on card. You don´t need it to use Gen3.

  • @KainYT Wow...your perception of the obvious is astounding. Thanks for clearing what everyone in the word already knows dude.

  • Is that really how fast a windows 7 boots up?

  • Does this mean any current mobo will support Ivy Bridge, or they're making newer ones?

  • What took you guys so long?

  • ASUS (0.0)

  • I dont even know any video card that max the setting of pci express x16 2.0 soo can you people benchmark the pci express 3.0 ?

  • damn, I love ASUS...

  • I love that PLX PCIe switch! Nice!

  • why a big switch board and not a PCIe 2.0/3.0 chip switch like Asrock??

  • @ImmortalUniverse they are using an actual PCIe 3.0 motherboard which has the 3.0 chip, while using a daughterboard that is plugged into the motherboard's PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. The daughterboard in this case has a PLX PCIe chip that allow them to dynamically simulate data transactions at both PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 speeds. don't worry, the motherboard has the 3.0 chips already on it.

  • @lpjz290 yeah that i understand .

but asrock has a small chip that can switch between 2.0 and 3.0.

so no need for a dipswitch.

isnt that the same as the big clumsy daughterboard?

i think Asrock has figured it out better.

  • Hell Yeah!

  • Read speed improved yet write speed was the same? Why? Does this mean all Asus P8X68 motherboards are PCI-e 3.0 ready? Or is P8Z68 /Gen3 a new series?

  • @tubester4567 the GEN3 is a refresh of the current P8Z68 boards that will include PCIe 3.0.

  • @lpjz290 OK thanks, well that sucks if you already purchased a Asus Z68 board. Asus and Gigabyte were caught with their pants down when MSI Z68 boards already supported PCI-e 3.

  • wow

    looks like flash. :)

    cool

  • wow! That is fast and AWESOME!

  • This looks solid.

    brb taking my anti-sarcasm pills.
