  • I loved the flavour, and bubblyness of Liptonice... YUM YUM!

  • LIPTON!

  • i loved liptonice.

too bad it seems to have vanished now.

  • I remember this ad very well. I found it quite shocking at the time that this Liptonice soft drink is made of tea.

  • BTW, I tried Liptonice once - YUCK!

  • I like tea, but Liptonice tasted horrible!

  • U got no taste in beverages, this is the shit!

  • The day irony came to UK TV advertising.

I always look on this as a watershed between the old fashioned, cheesy yet impossibly earnest ads of the pre-sceptical 1980s and the media savvy, steely eyed, postmodernly cynical ads of nowadays. I read somewhere at the time that this ad was made overseas as one of those old type ads and Deayton's knowing sarcasm was added only for these shores as the ad agency knew such dated obviousness wouldn't wash in Major's Britain.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • And thank *you* for your excellent comment. So true what you say. Yes, even though I think that this ad isn't quite as aggressive as many of today's ads, it's on the right track to that, and you're right to say that UK TV Advertising was in the process of jumping the shark at this point of history.

  • @SozLike You should look for the one with John Cleese for Giro Blauw, sort of mocking as well. And that one is really old. But that was the netherlands of course.
