"...other people a chance to see themselves". That's so true, film can mean little if we can't relate to anything in it and see ourselves reflected in a particular moment. I love gay films, it was a huge sense of relief for my own feelings to be re-affirmed when i saw other gay characters on screen, because for gay guys, tv and film is an otherwise predominantly alienating hetero expierience.
