For all those who doubt Avatar, part 2:

Avatar's disc releases outsold the previous weekly sales record holder (The Dark Knight) in the first FOUR DAYS of release. The Blu-Ray release is history's most successful. Again, this alone does not imply quality. However, considering the massive market penetration and preceding box office success of this film, hype and ads cannot explain these numbers. Too many had already seen the film and judged it for themselves for that to succeed.

For all those who doubt Avatar, part 1:

Commercial success alone does NOT imply quality, BUT prolonged success WELL AFTER people have had a chance to see it and spread word of mouth on its quality gives a fairly good idea of its worth. Avatar, like Titanic, was still a solid performer months after its release. Avatar's record box office was also fueled by record repeat viewership. People don't turn out in droves to watch poor quality films 3+ times. It just doesn't happen.

I don't know what worries me more, that they seem to think it's cool to hate this film, or that they have absolutely zero comprehension of what defines good storytelling and cinematic quality. That's the ENTIRE point of a "5 second movie" edit: a extremely short, often humorous overview of the broadest strokes of the plot. I don't know what you were trying to get across.
