  • nice, rescue, pumper, aerial and cheif/supervisor.musta bin a gooder

  • whats the Code on that?

  • Was this for a fire alarm, like it says? if so why does your rescue leave first. Dont you have an order of trucks to leave?

  • Check out the new "Fire Truck" App for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch!

  • we are in fire district 13 in louisiana. what code did y'all get called out to ?

  • too many firemen have been getting laid off

  • you know you people who dislike theses videos can go to hell these people put their lives on the line and for a little thanks you can at least like the video

  • i live near here

  • does any body else get the sense that the white back up unit had audio put in for it.

  • I guess they don't use emergency lights there.

  • That fire had to be really bad!!!

  • @rrd89167 yup, about 3 square inches burned down, jk i cant say much, the old fire dept. that i was on only had 2 fire trucks and one rescue vehicle lol

  • the last truck was a snozzle truck right?

  • The white Engine looks like Union Fire Company's retired Delivery Day Engine 37

  • Very nice firetrucks :) Thumbs up from me!

  • Most of those dodge rams have hemis in them so actually they come in handy

  • Can we get congress to pass a law that would require all fire engines to have an 8V92 detroit??? =)

  • i love the dodge ram those things are cool especially(i know i might have spelt it wrong)when u put lights on it

  • rescue took no time getting out of station lol got to love that

  • nice. i like this video.

  • this video is really cool

  • this video is sweet

  • Two questions:

Firstly real Q or electronic Q?

Secondly, what was the white engine? A backup unit?

  • @marcsw5000 >>>---> Real Q's - white engine was reserve being used while 1st line rig was in for repairs.

  • Doc, that's a far cry from the rigs you shot in 1958!

  • i love those desil engines! haha. image a civic with one of those.so much torque!

  • @hpbadboy Diesels sound cool, and run any better, but take it from me, an owner of 4 diesel trucks, they aint worth a damn if theyre not in a useful piece of equipment like a fire truck. i just sold my final diesel,an 08 Chevy 2500 and got a Challenger. the government has gotten way to pulled into the EPA and theyre trying to regulate how many times our hearts beat a day. Its rediculous and not worht $115.00 every 4 days to fill up. yeah theyre fun, but not fun to own.

  • lol i think the old 1 sounds the best engine wise. but um what kinda siren did it have lol ?

  • @zacdoff i like this view better when they all leave house

  • What siren do you have on the spare?

  • The only engine we have is like that white one. And it runs better then the 2008 engine is the next town over. We will still roll it first when we get a new one because it is so reliable

  • VERY NICE SIREN TECHNIQUES

  • I always watch videos like this and I see the ladder leaving last.... I thought in the fire service, which I am apart of for the last ten years, the ladder took the front of the building... The only thing I can think of is that you guys are using your heads and pull ahead leaving room for the ladder.... Nice old white "spare" by the way

  • I think that it makes sense that the rescue truck rolled first, they can do the 360, force entry, and clear multiple means of egress while the pumper catches a plug and truck sets up the stick

  • odd that you fellas use a Dodge truck for the BC rig.

  • i like tht old white rig u got there, nice!!

  • where are the Qs people? come on

  • hey we have an eng like that in reserve we dont use it a whole lot but when we need it its there for us starts up every time

  • Listen to that Engine on that Monarch Pumper....that thing is roaring.....

  • @adcnortty that sucks...from texas

  • @adcnortty sounds like a 6v92

  • what was the olddd ghetto ass engine that rolled out of there haha

  • @freeportkid Don't talk trash about our Quality Monarch Pumper. They are great rigs - The best rigs the SFD ever bought.. That rig is now over 25 years old and still being used as a reserve just about everyday.

  • @zaffdoc ha ha chill man, he was just saying it was old, not that it was shitty or anything.

  • @helljumper51 >>>---> Thanks for translating that for me. I did not recognize it as a new language -- "olddd ghetto ass" = "OLD". What button do you push on your telephone to get that language?

  • @zaffdoc most run better then modern engines and pump better

  • @zaffdoc do the fire fighters there fight over who gets to drive the new trucks and who gets to drive the old one? lol

  • @RickySouthwell >>>---> No. Each engine, rescue and truck have an assigned driver. Driver is a rank (position) here - like Lieutenant in some other cities. He is 2nd in command of the rig he is assigned to.

  • @RickySouthwell no haha, most halls have assigned drivers who know how to operate the pumps well and drive, then you have search and rescue who will go in and bring people out, and pipeman operate the hoses to put out the fire, lots of different jobs to do at a fire department

  • @zaffdoc If it gets used everyday how is it a reserve?

  • @IsurvivedAntiochCA >>>---> Good question. Actually the reserve fleet of engines are designated as Engine 31,32, 33 and 34. But if Engine 32 replaces Engine 9 while it out of service for maintenance it becomes Engine 9. Today is May 29, 2011 and reserve fleet just has 2 engines and 1 rescue. Two of the Monarchs are having major problems and are in for repair. Take a look at our web site signal51group and you can learn a lot more if you want. Thanks for the guestion

  • @zaffdoc nice vid thanks you earned a sub from me

  • @zaffdoc Hell, I wish our engines sound like that. Sounds like it actually has power to it, no annoying turbo/supercharger whine

  • @freeportkid you wont be laughing when the "old ghetto ass engine" saves your life

  • @freeportkid That is an old Hurricane engine by (most likely) E-One. It had an open jump seat area that had a safety bar across it to prevent firefighters from falling out. NFPA outlawed them years ago.

  • god damn people...........its only a freaking fire alarm, most the time there nothing what does it matter what goes first......omfg everyone at a fire alarm incident is gonna die cus the rescue rolled out the door 10 sec. before the eng an truck think ppl use ur fuckin heads an quit bickering over stupid petty shit like this.....btw norm love the vid

  • so correct me if i'm wrong, is that the same station that one of the billy the exterminator episodes was filmed at?

  • @hollywoodsix No, Billy the Exterminator got rid of the bees in the training tower at the fire academy.

  • Does it really matter that the rescue left before the engine? I'm sure it wasn't planned so that "the rescue will leave before the engine". They are leaving from the same station! I'm sure that the fact the rescue got out the door 10 seconds sooner isn't going to have a major impact on the outcome.

  • I think the old girl needs some new horns....siren sounds like an old FedSig PA-20?

Also, why are there 12 dislikes for this video? Lol...

  • In the Vol dept I was in in N.C. house or building fire 1st out engine, 2nd out tanker 3rd out rescue squad, 4th tanker #2 5th out light rescue, that way we had all our equipment except for the brush truck in the same place in case of another call

  • your first search is ussally done with out a hose line because its quicker then your hose line will come in after at least thats hhow we do it down here

  • Out of all the truck only the rescue hit the Q2

  • I dont understand why the first out truck was rescue....in most depts they are 3rd in, following the engine and the truck. can someone explain this to me???

  • @ff24wtvfd dose it matter they are all going to the same place and the rescue firemen got in the tuck faster

  • Just watching those beauties roll out motivated me even more to be an engineer.

  • @KarToyz I wish I could drive one of those and become wheelman, but I still need to furfill a job as a firefighter... :(

  • Does it really matter what ruck rolls first when all four trucks are rolling at the same time? alls this means is the rescue crew was faster at getting in the truck. why dont you guys quit backseat driving these videos.

  • loud sirens nice

  • fire alarm: dispatching engine to... NO WE ARE ALL GOING!!!

  • im from a new york fire department called town of batavia we allways roll out with a RESCUE ENGINE

  • fire trucks r awsome!

  • why roll rescue truck before engine? do you guys carry hose on the rescue?

  • @hafy12 Ever hear of search and rescue?

  • @zaffdoc My department NEVER rolls a Rescue before an Engine for a fire. Yeah you say S&R but how are you gonna pull somebody out of a fire when you yourself cant get out because you don't have a hose line. Little things like this can kill. In this case It doesn't matter considering all of the trucks probably arrived withing 15 seconds of each other.

  • @Firefighter767 Good point. But I have heard of off duty firefighters making saves before the first engine arrived. If the engine is out on another call does the rescue not respond or do they stage around the corner until an engine comes in and lays a line? On the othe hand, I have seen a rescue unit arrive on the scene of a fully involved house fire with no chance of S & R and without a hose line they wished that they had staged around the corner.

  • @zaffdoc You shouldn't roll a rescue be for an engine/ladder etc when both are stationed at the same location. Due to unit parking, u don't want rescue blocking the engine/ladder etc. Now if they are coming from different station, the rescue may be the first on scene and starting to prep, but by the time their ready to do S&R the engine would be pulling up(depends on distance). None the less its what ever works for that dept. They may have trained and used this order, and works for them.

  • @zaffdoc well its a good point to hit upon, but if it comes in as entrapment and u know u have the crew take the engine right behind u like it did in the video, but where i come from u dont have the man power anymore to get the engine or squad out so we have an engine rescue with same equiptment as a squad, but first i mean nothing says u cant go around the fire is there. now when u check the fire room u will want to have a hose line with you but u gotta be remember head to the floor for S&R.

  • @Firefighter767

What do you want them to do? Sit there and wait for the engine guys to get on faster? It's not like they can't do anything before the engine gets there? Force entry, search, ultilites, ever heard of those?

Additionally, they may be headed to someone else's first due. The engine you see may be the 2nd or 3rd or 4th getting there.

  • @memphise34a

Some people only think that when a structure is on fire, we only put the wet stuff on the red stuff and nothing else. I guess some people have never heard of scene safety, scene size up, 360 walk around, determine fire extension, determine possible entrapments, and so on. If the rescue is ready to roll for whatever reason before the engine, let it roll first.

I guess everyone thinks their way is the best way. Oh well.

  • @memphise34a

Going somewhere without water is suicide. We never go in without hoses ready, here in europe.

  • @Firefighter767 yet this is a paid department and the enigne was right behind the rescue

  • @Firefighter767 this being a paid dept, they work differently than most combination, or volunteer departments. In a metropolitan department, you can have rescue companies first due and still operate when the 1st due engine is 5 minutes out, with functions like forcible entry, VES (if they have any ground ladders), S&R, etc. without lines and water supply in place; Is this necessarily the best policy? No, but these guys know their jobs and its not my place to say they're wrong.

  • @Firefighter767

When you pull up on a scene you don't know how many people are in a building or outside a building either on fire or not on fire, why assume that they are on fire. Your all going to the same call why wait 15 sec. for a engine to roll out just because it's a fire. Not at all rescues is stuff on fire.

  • @hafy12 - My guess is they got out the door first!!!

  • @hafy12 it's like 10 seconds in between, it doesn't matter.

  • @hafy12 So, you suggest the rescue just twiddle their thumbs until the engine company rolls a few seconds later? I work in a two company house right now. If the other engine is first due and I'm ready to roll, I'm going to leave them in the bay.

  • love the detrot on the reserve engine

  • woah...i like te yelp and the Q's!

  • reminds me of something to happened to me, there was a fire at a apartments complx, station 1, 2, 4, and 8 responded to a locked up construction zone

there was 1 ladder 4 pumpers a rescue truck and a battalion chiefs suv all lined up outside the gate as the appartments burned

after a few minuets they cut down the gate

  • Hmmm...I wonder if the white engine has a Detroit engine? :)

  • so how much levels are there to be a firefigter i Love you all be safe???

  • Im in Clarksville Tn and a vol firefighter we have a Brush Truck ,A Tanker, A Pumper, a Crash/First Responder and a HAZMAT Truck and in the hole station we have 12 people it sucks on fires we have 3 people at a time.

  • @xunderground87x21 That does not sound safe. Just out of curiosity do you guys handle EMS for your community or just answer as first responders? Here the FD is also the EMS, so the citizens always vote for whatever the FD wants or needs. And the mayor better not even think about laying off the firefighters that respond to them when they are sick or injured.

  • @zaffdoc yeah they have a cadet program. I would say that 75% of the firefighters and paramedics at the station are not over 30. So, yeah i was there for acouple years riding on all calls and such. Very fun but not the thing i want to get into. My aim is law enforcement

  • @zaffdoc See, my aunt is the asst. fire chiefs for a fire department in IL. It is a smaller town but its a huge fire station. They have an Engine, squad, 2 ambulance, brush fire truck, ladder truck, a mabas 22 truck (for disasters anywhere in the USA there assigned to go), and a older mack engine. Also they have a chief, and asst chief cars. As well as a multi-purpose vehical. I believe we have 5-8 people in shift and anytime. I believe there is a total of 54 firefighters and parametics.

  • @joeyp5210 That's cool. Do you get to ride out? Station 9 has 36 firefighters, paramedics assigned to the station. 12 on each shift.

  • @joeyp5210 see we have the same equipment just in our department we only have the money to staff our first out engine.

we have our first out engine, reserve engine, brush, reserve brush, old ass engine, truck thats too long to drive on california streets and a Red Cross truck that goes to any major disaster in the country and 3 fire chief/battalion chiefs vehicles and all for a grand total of 4 people per shift...and we may have to lay off some guys..

  • @RosevilleFireCadet7 Does your department do ems?

  • @zaffdoc nope. we have amr that does our paramedic and emt stuff. we are all emts but we dont house any ambulances.

  • @zaffdoc You know, I have noticed that Fire Dept based EMS with Ambulance transportation seem to do better when the city goes to the polls asking for more money for the Fire Dept. While my city is going through some tough economic times, they don't ever talk about laying firefighters off or closing stations. They may delay starting a new firefighter class, and do other things to safe money, but that is about it.

  • Well, i like the station. It just seems like your putting all eggs in one basket and actually risking more lives when you empty out a station. How many on a shift do you have?

  • @joeyp5210 There are 12 firefighters assigned to this station. There are 22 fire stations in Shreveport. Station 9 which is hwere this video was made is the busiest fire station in the state of Louisiana. There is an engine, a ladder truck, a heavy rescue unit, a battalion chief car, and a sprint car housed in this station, so there is not a duplication of equipment, so II do not understnad your comment about putting all your eggs in one basket.

  • well i havent either but i know the companies around me got rid of all of their bucket cab trucks... if u want to see 1 type in hampton station 13 one of them shows it

  • all this for an Automatic Fire Alarm..... well i guess ya never know when it can turn into a worker

  • @leatherneck8541 Your question reminds me of a city council member telling the fire chief to not send fire qpparatus to false alarms. Duh! I guess he wanted the firefighters to wait until they saw the flames and smoke from their stations. BTW, Shreveport is a Class I fire dept. (this rating offers the citizens the lowest possible fire insurance cost) and to maintain that rating they must respond to fire calls with a designated number of apparatus and personnel.

  • I didnt know they could still ride in bucket cabs

  • @25Yankeesfan There is no other place for them to ride. They have to ride in the bucket seats. I have not seen a rule that says they can't - Have you?

  • @zaffdoc I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd chime in. I'm not aware of what the rule is, nor when it was passed, but I know that my father's paid-professional department had to stop use of its older bucket-cabbed trucks awhile back, except for if they're a reserve rig (as this one is). I also remember them installing the yellow bars @paraawesome was referring to.

Yes, I am a firefighter, but I'm on the county's volunteer department.

Btw, love your videos, have watched many of 'em.

  • Are firefighters alowed to sit in the back of the cab if its open like on the white engine? I didnt think u could anymore unless there was one of those yellow bar things.

  • @paraawesome Apparently in 2007 you could. And they are still using the white rigs as spares today and the firefighters do ride tin the bucket seats.

  • hell of a nice rescue, what make is it?

  • @fire25rescue It is a 2001 Ferrara Heavy Rescue

  • Is the last 1 out a Smeal 85' on a Spartan?

  • 1997 Quality Innovation

    75' Aerial

  • On a Spartan chassis

  • LoL, the shift commander cut of the ladder truck when exiting the station haha

  • Actually, that is Battalion Chief 4.

  • @zaffdoc hell of a nice rescue what make is it?

  • im 15 and my favorite sound is a fire truck :-D

  • @Thalathir Many young guys have that problem and most out grow it, but I did not. LOL

  • lol good vid btw

  • Sweet, an old Van Pelt still getting some action.

  • I am not familiar with Van Pelt rigs which may look the same, but the white engine in this video is a 1987 Quality Monarch on a Spartan Chassis

  • Looks a hell of a lot like one. But I didn't get a good look at the front. Low res and side angle. Best damn trucks I ever rode in, but we gave em all to the Indian reservations and bought a fleet of Seagraves. One model (I don't know the designation) was very popular, The cab was a complete box, the nose was flat sides flat no curves...PERIOD. and it just had the two round red lights right between the headlights that remind me of school bus tail lights and the old square CHP lightbar. miss it

  • My dept still runs with a Grumman Aerial Cat from 1992. They have looked at replacing it a couple of times, but instead sent it in for a complete overhaul. The thing is a beast and always faithful! Plus, she is just so damn gorgeous.

  • I dont know why but sirens give me the shivers

  • that was awesome lol

  • Very nice vehicle.

    greetings from Germany

  • they could be set up like our department, the rescue is first so that the rescue squad can get in and start doing their seach, then the engine isnt in the way when its hooking up to the hydrant

  • Nice video. It makes my dogs crazy.

  • Y was the rescue first out? Jw

  • why does it matter, they're going to the same place.

  • Possibly because it was in a different district and they were 'second-in' - in which case the engine wouldn't be expected to be first.

  • they go out in the order of which one is fuly manned and ready to go first doesnt matter which one goes first as long as they get there quickly AND safely

  • @atreyufan11091 The firefighters are probably assigned to their own truck so whatever is full first will be first out the door. Besides they are pretty close to eachother so it wouldnt be a problem which one gets there first.

  • do you now where they were headed?

  • Those red Fire Trucks on there both have a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, and so that old white one has a Detroit Diesel 6V92 turbo engine.

  • @brianalexi They don't fuck around with their engines do they haha

  • no it doesnt

  • fire trucks here in denver are white and gold good video

  • I think its funny that Rescue that doesnt have a pump is first out of the station before the Engine

  • @ThetGame well it has hoses and all the shit they need besides water and the engine with the pump was right behind them so technicly it wouldnt really matter on who got out the door first. but if nobody got out the door there would be an issue lol

  • @ThetGame There could be patients from the fire out on the front lawn and the Rescue could immediately treat these patients. While only SECONDS later the first-in engine arrives and they 'go to work'. Not to mention the Rescue, hopefully trained and experienced firefighters, could also give a proper and thorough on-scene report. Thus facilitating the aforementioned first-in's plan of attack. Purely hypothetical but highly probable as well.

  • @ThetGame so what your saying is, if you were in a car accident and you were trapped in the car, you would want an engine to be first on the scene? when the rescue truck has cutters and seperators that can um i dont know, get you out of the car?

  • Not claxon =(

  • I have never seen a white fire truck in Nebraska..HA! One would never see it in the winter up here.......................

  • Firetrucks in Papillion, NE are painted white.

  • I agree they need the lights on before they leave and sirens ours here in canada do it

  • WHOA! They speeded out of the station

  • nice white gruman duplex sounded like she had a detroit

  • That white rig is not a Grumman Duplex -- It is a 1987 Quality Monarch.

  • ahh my bad it looks identical to my station's 1985 gruman duplex

  • Love the federal PA200 on the white truck, They rock

  • u need your siron and lights on in the station when u pull out so every one will get the hell out of your way

  • @jbossman355 in Germany we switch on lights in the station, siren is switched on when we heach the first intersection (sometimes earlier); In Norway the siren isn't used much at all. Perhaps the siren needs to be one in the US

  • And you need your siren on before you get out of the garage because why?

  • I don't maybe cuz when I am rushing down the damn road I dont want to fuck with it them and how my Station is right next to a highway/state rt. I would like some lights and sireans when I am pulling out. Oh yeah and its a truck/squad bay. dumb fuck.

  • That must have been one hell of an emergency call to send out the whole department.

  • old school rig there, We got a new engine I mean brand spanking new, I'm kinda jealous because it's parked at one of the 2 very old fire houses. we have 6 fire stations in town ranging in all sorts of ages, the oldest was built in the 1920's and I think thats the one they have the newest engine at.

You guys need to get a new tandem axle truck, maybe a new engine too, but the engine looks good old school not the truck.

  • Sure they could use a new engine but they take what they can get. Not everyone can afford a new truck.

And I'm sure in your situation they put the engine where it's needed most. Do you think it's fair to give the fire fighters at an older station all older stuff? Do they not deserve a new engine?

  • Engine 9's regular engine, a 2005 Ferrara Inferno was in for maintenance, and they were using a reserve rig.

The ladder truck was designed for the neighborhood that it serves. They have a tough time as it is manuevering down the narrow street as it is. A longer truck would not get to the scene in many areas of their first in district.

  • ah ya that would explain it, now that you mention it, we have a couple smaller streets, but thankfully I'm not stationed in that part of town...

  • i think its time for a new engine........

  • Sometimes when a fire engine is in for maintenance they use a reserve apparatus as they were the day this video was made.

  • plus at times the older engines run better and are more reliable then the newer ones. if it still holds equiptment, drives, and pumps then your golden.

  • @bengals029 if there is no triaffic coming what does it matter at first.... and plus it was just an alarm = BS

  • where were they going?

  • to an emergency !!!

  • read the fucking description on the right,it will tell u

  • fire fighters kick azz
