  • Greatest national anthem ever composed.

  • sounds very much like Edith Piaf.

  • Everyone- DON'T FEED THE TROLLS

  • A blood thirsty anthem for a nation of perpetual war, impenitent spite and unearned arrogance. Putting up a luscious little tart to sing it is just lipstick on a pig.

The lyrics from 1792 should be updated for a modern world. These lyrics should include references to their centuries of imperialism, the millions of innocents slaughtered in the name of France, and their present long slow decline into moral, social and economic decay.

A rousing melody for wimpy black hearted socialists.

  • @pine829 You're a troll. I really, really hope you're a troll.

  • @khatool No, I'm not a troll. I am someone who has had people I love taken away by wars that have done nothing for humanity except build an imperialistic empire, redraw some lines on a map and expand factories that make bullets and artillery.

There is a saying: "Young me die for old men's ambitions."

It is high time this world took the glory out of war and the heroism out of killing. It is high time the world started to ignore the old men who suck the life out of the world

  • @pine829 2 points: 1) Would you have the Great Wall knocked down because it represents war and tyranny? Or the Washington DC monument for its honoring dead soldiers? Or the pyramids of Giza because they represented tyranny?

    2) your hypocrisy is clear when you claim to stand for peace between nations and simultaneously post racist anti-French slogans. (nation of perpetual war, unearned arrogance)

  • @SachaRuzzante

    1) No, but I would stop building them. I live in the United States. All over this country are streets, town squares, parks and suchlike named for past wars that no one remembers. Where I live there is one for the Spanish-American War. I doubt that less than 20% of the people here even know which countries were at war in this war.

This memorial is nothing but a sad testimony of American imperialism and foreign meddling...on par with Iraq.

  • @pine829

    2) There is no hypocrisy. I am pointing out a truth. France, like virtually all of the Old World European nations has a long history of near continuous war. It is in their blood. The anthem clearly displays this.

What I am for is my nation ceasing to act like a European Empire get the hell out of our foreign entanglements and lets the Europeans, the Russians and the Middle-Easterners kill themselves like they want to.

This was the advice of the US Founders.

  • @pine829 I am not for "world peace". I am not naive enough to even hope for it. What I want is national peace for my isolated nation. I am sick and tired of being taxed to death to support power hungry politicians prosecuting their Pax-Americana and black-hearted old rich guys maneuvering our government into sending our young men to die for their financial ambitions.

"French" is a nationality, not a "race".

Nothing I said is untrue...only uncomfortable.

  • @pine829 I have to say the US' history isn't much better. Revolution, War of 1812, war with Mexico, continuous meddling in central and South America. Is it in America's blood as well?

  • @SachaR You bet. There is no drug more addictive than power and no climax more pleasurable than conquest.

To a politician, power unused is power squandered and war is the ultimate power. To a general, war is an end onto itself. To a banker war is an investment. To a businessman an opportunity.

The present American Empire is like France in its treachery, the British in their greed, the Spanish in its corruption, the Russian in its meddling and the Roman in it hubris.

  • @pine829 US Isolationism is a ridiculous concept in the modern world. After ww1, what happened? The US pulled out of the League of Nations, didn't ratify the Paris Peace treaties, and threw out the Anglo-American Guarantee. All factors that led to ww2.

Like it or not, the US has a responsibility to use its power for peace. Admittedly, they're pretty bad at doing this (Iraq, Vietnam, Nicaragua, etc etc were idiotic ventures) but this doesn't mean they should pull out entirely.

  • @SachaRuzzante WW2 was driven primarily by the punitive provisions in the Treaty of Versailles. Had Germany not been economically crushed by these, it is very likely that Hitler would not have arisen.

The US should be militarily isolationist and economically open. Even today we manage to trade just fine with nations we don't politically agree with.

Where we get into trouble is picking winners. Our record in this regard is abysmal.

  • @pine829 Well, we're agreed then.

  • @pine829 By the way, I am not French. I'm Canadian.

And while I absolutely agree heroism should be taken out of war, attacking La Marseillaise and France is a ridiculous way of doing this. You are promoting hatred, simply put. Hatred leads to conflict.

  • @SachaRuzzante I do not hate the French or anyone else. I loath their long culture of war. I loath the modern day delusion that the destruction of another's land, livelihood and children is somehow "glorious" and that the slaughter of innocents somehow imbues greatness into a mans character.

The hate and the glorification of destruction is already in the song. I merely draw attention to the true nature of what the French chose to represent them musically.

  • This is my favorite version of LA MARSEILLAISE because Mireille Mathieu commits everything she has to singing it. She combines beauty and talent with patriotism.

    Bravo!

  • When i lived in Germany I remember her as the hottest singer in Europe.

  • ugh, our national anthem (the united states) is so short and low key compared to this

Ken

  • I see 102 Edmund Burke fans!

He’s the Irish member of Parliament who supported the American Revolution because he saw it as the logical culmination of the “conservative” Glorious Revolution of 1688, an effort to conserve traditional liberties

But he opposed the French Revolution because he foresaw that, in the name of Liberty, the revolutionaries would enforce one-party rule with mass killings of those who disagreed with them

Still, I LOVE this song (better than the American national anthem)

  • I have a friend from Ireland. When he speaks English he has a very thick Irish accent. However, he spent only 3 years in Etrangere Francaise and the guy speaks French just like a Frenchman. I thought he was full of crap about his FFL duty but he is not. He told me I should have signed up. I wish I did but I am too damn old now.

  • As hot as she is I would be willing to go kick some ass for France.

  • (yawn)...ho hum. Oops, dropped your carbine there Pierre.

  • @chickenwretch

Have a nice boat ride at the Dunkirque regatta there Tommy Atkins.

  • @soljaboy86 good for her.

  • The French Revolution was the aspiration of humanity in the decades that followed it. This masterpiece belongs to us all! We ask the French to lead the world out of the turmoil of the ruling class once more!

  • @AmericanAcquiescence: and please, on the defeat bashing - France has win and resisted so many wars on its homeland that Americans as a whole have in great part, not a clue, what war really means beside the Hollywood cliches. France is not made "by a war" but lose every time they surrender their culture and language and moral values to the "market" and lately what we call "americanization" - we are a culture not a "race", better that to go kill people in order to prove ourselves glorious.

  • @AmericanAcquiescence: - we, French (by our defeats probably) have finally purged ourselves of the supremacist and "exceptionalism" brain washing to join the human species - the words of that song is not appropriate to the greatness of France - and effectively, a country is its people first, but its people is unified not just by an anthem but by moral values like unity, tolerance, sharing, excellence - again if war is your way of showing your greatness - how pale is that country's glory.

  • @AmericanAcquiescence: by the way, what is exactly the "race" of France? seeing that even our language is a mix of different other ones (just as English is greatly made up out of French and other languages) How do you define and xclassify the French "race" - guys when the WASP will finally drop the "race" brain washing - they is no such thing as races but cultures oh yes, and we are different even we are probably both 2 "white" persons but with such great gaps in our life views

  • Comment removed

  • @AmericanAcquiescence - your comments do show a cultural difference, and I deduct by your comments that you are WASP - which is not a "race" but definitely a culture and a beliefs system - I am French by birth and education as well my fathers' generations for probably the last 900 years and we do have parents that have emigrated to North America since as far 1695 - so I maintain my comments - Anthems are evidently about a country's greatness but is wars the measure of that greatness?

  • DEATH TO ISLAM!

  • soon it will be sung in Arabic language:)

  • listen to the one under the french flag, same recording, far better sound

  • The music is effectively moving but I always had a problem with some of the words,

    - many people don't understand that the words are meant to mobilize people for war to defend the country from outside aggression but are very racist in essence;

    understandable 200 years ago, people were quite racist;

but now, do we have to wait for a war to get united?

France doesn't have other words that declare its greatness and its moral principles and qualities?

may be a sign of French inability to change?

  • is she like the French Dora the Explorer?

  • @MutantNinjaFly the funniest fuckin comment i have read in my youtube history!!!

  • She could have been a hot Angelina Jolie with these lips!

  • Happy Bastille Day!

    Long live the French Revolution!

    Down with capitalism!

  • Wonderful video - Mme. Mathieu is Marianne herself, singing her national hymn. Perhaps the most inspiring national anthem anywhere - the promise that 'the impure blood of our enemies will fertilize our fields' is especially moving!

  • I don't care if she has Dora the Explorers hair, I still love her!

  • @elviolette hahahahahahaha!! yeah. She's pretty good, no matter what!!

  • The powerful R sounds, especially at 0:22-0:25 and 0:50-0:53, are so impressive.

I can never do that however hard I practise it lol

  • Favorite anthem of all.Why isn't she leaning-suavely-against a Citroen DS though?

  • Liberty herself singing, out of the paint

  • Best national anthem. Greetings from Lebanon. Meilleur hymne national. Salut du Liiban

  • I love her & her voice since childhood even though i don't speak french, u unfortunately.

  • best (and most violent) anthem of all time.

  • I'm American, but this is the most inspirational and rousing anthem of all time. As sung by this beautiful woman, it transcends nationality and becomes the anthem for liberty.

  • @joeparkson Not just vive le France, but vive le democratie and vive la liberté

  • @joeparkson I agree I agree I agree!

Check out Placido Domingo's rendition btw

  • @joeparkson the only thing they know how to do -- sing and spread legs, so all kinds of bastards fuck them... just singing is just impractical...

  • @joeparkson

    I second.

  • Greatest national anthem ever written.

  • @SodaLake59 The bloodier the better my friend.

  • franceses de mierda!

  • at start they were not united but after Caesar's attack they were united( just those gauls in Britania he say this in his book ). Yes he was using many units but not at start his greatest battle were mainly with Frenches ( when he went to Russia 2/3 were foreigners just random that this was his end ?!)

  • it just mean that Gauls were already assimilated by more developed country but Gaulic blood is still there ... and maybe Napoleon were not from France but(!) he had very good weapon and this was French nation ... and what is better to have one great person or be the brave nation ?

  • @PUR3ID10T There was really no such thing as a united Gaulish people or blood neither. There was a huge difference between the Gaulish population amongst themselves in their look and languages. Not all of Gaul was Celtic neither, far from it. And Napoleon used huge amounts of soldiers from other nations like when he went to Russia. He was only serving his own interests of becoming bigger than Alexander the Great.

  • It means nothing that they did not born in today France but what is the most important Franks were assimilated by Gauls and this means that the blood of franks is still there and about the language they gave some words to Gaulish language and some they get .

  • @PUR3ID10T Do you think Sarkozy has Frankish blood? Do you think his wife has Frankish blood? Do you think Napoleon had Frankish blood? Do you think that the Basks have Frankish blood? Corsicans? People in the Midi? Bretons? etc etc. The Gauls gave just about 50 word to the French language so nothing. The French language exists because of the Latin conquerors from Italy not the Franks or Gauls.

  • I got a big disadvantage cos I dont know what u consider French so.... I thought that ppl from France think they r Gauls(nor Franks ) ... so I am totaly disappointed ...

  • and abt architecture we can call akvadukts as architecture and you also said France got no famous person .... Charlemagne or Charles Martel were one of greatest person of their age

  • @PUR3ID10T But Charlemagne and Charles Martel where not French they where Franks big difference. They did not speak French (language is the source for identity). And they where not born in the place now known as France because France as a country did not even exist at the time but was merely a part of a larger Frankish empire that had it's origin in Austria that is now in modern day Germany. Charlemagne and Charles Martel belong much more to the Germans than the French.

  • what is the difference between French and Norman? I'm not European. I've read an article about Normandy. It says that Normandy is located in the Northern France, so I thought it is part of France.

  • I just do not understand ... I would like to know if french consider themselves as gauls or franks cos this is quite important .... if franks u got same origins ... if he consider himself as frank he is right and if he consider himself as gaul is not right cos they r older

  • @PUR3ID10T

Franks, of course. with Clovis, first king of the Franks

  • @jdhx1 And Clovis was not the first king of the Franks you idiot lol.

  • @kenshie1991 Go back to your Playstation3 petit ;)

  • What a great anthem....

  • Like a good Norman I fuck France / Comme un bon normand je baise la France.

France can die but never Normandy

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Tiens mon numéro de tél fixe à Caen: 02 31 73 35 85

Call me you French bitch if you have any balls. But I doubt you will, you are French after all mdr!

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Ohh but I have no fear gamin, I am Norman you see ;) I just came back from working on a film in Chernobyl. Something you would never dare to do you being the French pussy that you are hein ;) That I give my family name and put my face on Youtube says all about me and your "name" jdhx1 on YT says all about you, point.

  • @jdhx1 You have it all wrong, it was the Germans who where having a fuck fiesta in Paris for so many years and the tradition goes on still. After all you have never been known for your fighting skills, Parisians only have big mouths but no balls so how can you fuck anything, you are always the fucked lol.

  • @jdhx1 The Parisians have been so fucked that they don´t even exist anymore. Nobody is a real authentic Parisian, so saying you are Parisian is false, you are not even in the 75 I bet lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 You are not even a real Parisian lol.

  • @Anquetil79

Mwahahah, t'as la rage hein coco.. :p

  • @jdhx1 Not me pretending to be something I´m not lol. As I said you are not even living in the 75 ;) And you sure aint got Paris origins. And it was not the French or Parisians who won England but we in Normandy. And by doing so we created a kingdom with Norman institutions that would later have the most powerful empire in the world and have it's Norman influenced language become the language of the world. The white tower of London is the symbol of Norman pride in the world as is the Mont ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 What is the language of the world today? English or French? Exactly and this you can't somach because we Normans made England what it is and England later crushed all the hopes of France to become a world leading super power. Anyway France will soon be Muslim, even old French ppl in Paris are told what to do by young Maghrébins, guess they know who are their new masters lol

    After

  • @Anquetil79

Je brulerais un cierge pour toi, promis.. :D

  • @jdhx1 Clearly you are living in another period. La douce France is game over. It's little Maghreb now. And the French pussies in the Metro are so scared of them lol. But I am happy I enjoy the Maghrébins destroying France. All that destroy´s France can only be good for us Normans, Bretons, Flemish, Alsatians, Corsicans and Basks ;) You can burn whatever you like it wont chance a thing mdr.

  • @Anquetil79

    Je brulerais 2 cierges alors ! ^^

  • @jdhx1 No I like them. They are burning down Paris ;)

  • @Anquetil79

Copyright quoi.. ;)

  • @jdhx1 What could you do to anyone hiding in your shadow with your jdhx. No wonder it was the Americans and British who saved France from the Germans lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Of course they came to Normandy they were not going to do so from Paris that was to buisy having it's female population having orgies with the German soldiers. Well considering that you are a coward like your father and his father then I would say you are surely French. After all they can't fight like men lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 I am of course Norman with all the honors that it comes with. But you are surely French with all the disgrace that comes with that title. That is why I am not ashamed to show my Norman family name wile you are ashamed to show your French family name, well you are French after all lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Is that why the President of France is a Hungarian Jew and his wife Italian? And why the former minister of immigration is from Lebanon and the FN leader with the non French Celtic Breton name of Le Pen. And people like Jean Reno (Real name Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jiménez) Platini, Belmondo, Gainsbourg, de Funès, Aznavour, Truffaut (took up the name of his adopted father but his real family name was Lévy), Napoleon (Napoleone di Buonaparte),Marie "Curie"Skłodowska are all non French lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Yes someone like you can be born in Normandy but will never be considered Norman by us. In France it's different you are born in France and become French whatever your blood is. That is why there are no French people left and nobody gives a fuck about France anymore. I have a Norman family name and you don't have a French family name but are a nationalist, la honte. How many cocks did your mother and father need to suck dry to get into the RF lol

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 You are just vexed because you have no heritage and identity like we do. Clearly a man afraid to show his own family name is a man ashamed of himself and therefor you are ashamed of your family. Something we Normans are not ;)

  • @Anquetil79

La France pas de patrimoine ? :p mwhahaha.. ^^

Attend je regarde la carte.. lol ! ;)

  • @jdhx1 The Mont-Saint-Michel is Norman not French lol. Napoleon was Corsican not French lol. Charlemagne spoke Frankish a Germanic language not French and he was not even born in France lol. Same for Charles Martel lol.

What French heritage are you talking about lol. The Eiffel Tower created by the foreigner Gustave "Eiffel" Bönickhausen? LOL it will not survive this century wile our Norman Mont will be still standing. If you don't know where it is, look it up in the card lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 The Mont was built by us Normans not the French so it's not French ;) The French can say what they want it's still not French lol. No more than the White Tower in London in England as it was built by the Normans ;) France has 1500 of history ahahah good one. There was not even a French identity 1500 years ago so for a French history spanning 1500 years loooool.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Name me any French architecture that is 1500 years old. Or an example of the French language being used 1500 years ago. You can´t lol. Guess you French are so ashamed of the little heritage and identity you have that you are completely delusional. :)

  • @Anquetil79

hola cheval fougueux.. du calme, j'ai autre chose à faire. .

  • @jdhx1 So basically you can't find any specific French architecture 1500 years ago. Or a specific French language 1500 years ago. It must be frustrating for you not being able to answer me to tell me I am wrong ;) And searching history books wont change anything for you because you will always know how idiotic it is to talk about a country with 1500 year of history when there was not even a French identity in existence 1500 years ago ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Well there sure was no France in the time of Clovis or have you forgotten about Gaul lol. And Clovis sure did not talk French now did he, no more than Charles Martel centuries later. Ignorance is a bliss lol

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Ah ah you would be telling Clovis right now if you saw him in the streets or Charlemagne or Charles Martel to speak French in France! Ah ah le faux-cul lol. The French consider the French language as the source for Frenchness yet the Frankish kings did not speak a word of it looool!

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 How can French be the source when it's not even the original native language of most of the people living in the boundaries of the French state lol.

I bet you are not even French but Flemish. And you know the Flemish are not French ;)

And instead of looking at maps start reading history. Clovis was not the first king of the Franks like you said lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Normandy was born in 911 lol not in 511. But this is normal coming from you, a person that thinks that Clovis was the first king of the Franks lol.

No wonder the French vote for a Hungarian president, they don't even know their own history.

    Vae victis gamin ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Facts are facts the French state is in a state of decomposition because nobody cares about it because the French are almost extinct. What Clovis started is long gone. Roman laws are not a heritage from Clovis and neither is the Code of the Corsican Napoleon. And The French kingdom is no more, a fact ;) While we in Normandy still have a part of Normandy independent from France and it is officially called the Duchy of Normandy using Norman laws an ongoing tradition of 11 centuries ;)

  • @jdhx1 Facts are, the French state is in a state of decomposition because nobody cares about it because the French are almost extinct.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 I never said I agreed with you in anything. You clearly are in a state of defeat. I don't see the people of Auvergne talk about Frankish origins or in fact any people of the southern part of the RF. Neither can I see any Bretons talk about Frankish pride or us Normans. Not Alsatian neither, they are of Alaman descent. Or the descendants of the Burgonds. And Paris is just little Africa lol. We Normans have the conquests of England and Southern Italy ;)

  • @jdhx1 Google "Norman conquest of southern Italy" "Norman conquest of England" "Norman architecture"

"Norman law" All this done by Normans, we don't need Corsicans or others to do our greatness for us unlike the French ;)

  • @jdhx1 If you think that the general French population looks anything like Franks then you are more delusional than I tough.

Also enjoy this vide clip on YT named "How France lost WWII" The glory of France lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 You did not watch this video did you :) I understand it must be hard to see all the noble French working and smiling with the Germans. Fighting against the allies with the Germans. Talk about your heroes the Franks there was a French SS division called Legion Charlemagne some more glorious past hein ;)

Resistance? There where not many Jean Moulin like Renaud once sang lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 You French nationalists really are bad in history or you just don't want to face facts that could shatter your world mdr. Normandy was founded in 911.. There was no France 1500 years ago but Gaul lol.

And Joséphine Baker said Paris not France LOOOOL!

Of course it's to hard for you to see the French with Pétain working proudly for the Germans lol.

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Mdr! I put Jersey as my country on YT not France. Because I would never lower myself with France. And guess what Jersey and Guernsey are the independent part of Normandy ;) Ouia mon gars these islands are not a part of France but a part of Normandy and they are celebrating with us the 11 century anniversary of Normandy. And we are having a closer and closer contact with them because people are spitting on their French identity more and more in Normandy ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Caen is in Normandy, you really should study that map of yours better as you should history. What sons of Clovis? The ones in Aquitaine? Or the one in Provence? Auvergne? Corsica? They don´t look very Frankish do they lol. With the 11th century anniversary of Normandy more and more Normans are realizing their true identity, it's fashionable with the youth to be pro-Norman and anti-French now, as it should be for the descendants of the noble Vikings. Sarkozy is a son of Franks? LOL!

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Lol The French state is the one stealing from us not the other way around ;) As I said where can you find these sons of the Franks? Sarkozy perhaps? Even the "real" French don't look Frankish. We in Normandy on the other hand look Germanic normal we are of Scandinavian origins ;) You must be the sons of something completely different lol. Normandy the lands of the Northmen AKA vikings was created in 911. The term Kingdom of France was first used in 1205 lol

  • @Anquetil79

C'est finit l'époque des vikings. Réveille-toi et regarde la carte de France. ;)

  • @jdhx1 ahah was that all you could say when I told you the first time the term "Kingdom of France" was used was in 1205. Must have hurt, 1500 years of history, not really lol.

And the Franks they are completely over, nobody even knows them or celebrates them in the FR. And is the president a Frank? On the other hand we in Normandy are celebrating the Vikings right now ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Lol no wonder you are delusional you just keep watching old maps lol. And There is almost 0% Frankish blood in the French and there are no Frankish institutions or is the Code Napoleon Frankish? Was Napoleon a Frank? Is Sarkozy a Frank? Ahahah Paris is the name of a Celtic tribe, the Parisii ;)

Anyway the kingdom of France does not exist lol You are just a Gaul who speak the language of the Italian conquerors ;)

  • @Anquetil79

  • @jdhx1 Like your forefathers you don't know history. Like your forefathers you don´t have the balls to confront me face to face. And like your forefathers you have no Frankish blood looool

  • @Anquetil79

  • @Anquetil79 What the fuck is this, Asterix?

    Get bent.

  • @Anquetil79 If I could say smt abt what u said abt the language... normans were asimilated when the Bastard( yes this is the name what history gave to William and also his peers did ) , so they already spoke french that means that enghlish vocabulary had 10 k words (they had 20k words at all) from french ... I am a neutral person cos I am not from Normady , French nor England

  • @PUR3ID10T Ahoj, He was called Bastard yes but not to his face. He destroyed those who did. He also destroyed the French army 2se when they tried to invade Normandy at the battles of Mortemer and Varaville. They did not speak French as the French language is only one of the many Oil languages spoken. There are for example far more norse words in Norman than Frankish or Gaulish in French. Google "Norman language".

  • @PUR3ID10T A manic depressive Frenchman (if he is French they hardly exist anymore) is saying the French have 1500 years of history. That is so absurd as there was no French language 1500 years ago or any French architecture, structure etc of any sort let along a French identity....
