You do make some valid points. But Primus is a bass-dominated band. While I'm pretty sure Flea would love to do what Clapool does, he has 3 other band members that would also like to show off their chops. I'm not saying that Claypool doesn't care about his own band members, but his band members have accepted the fact that Claypool is the dominant member of the band. And Frusciante was amazing in the By the Way album.

@Deadstar6969 It comes naturally for some people (just like singing/drumming or singing/playing guitar at the same time), but some other have to work. Claypool says he just played the bass line over and over again until being able to watch TV (and understand what's going on) while playing it at the same time. You should try doing that, it'll probably help you.
