  • :50 ya shoot your truck? sure as hell looks like a bullet hole to me? watch closely you can see light shine through it

  • I want that engine for my 99 mazda B2500. Lol

  • @bigdog8517 Lol, The 2500 has a 2.5l Lima 4 cyl that utilizes the same block and similar head. You could always build up your 2.5.

  • SICK ASS SET UP BRO NEVER SEEN N E THING LIKE IT!!!!

  • @Lukedawg1984 Thanks man! That was the idea, to do something different.

  • huh,, so you can put a 4 barrel on a 4 cyl. are there 2 cyl pushing one muffler? i have a 2.6 dodge power ram 50. im abt to put a header on it, and it has a flowmaster, and no cats. can your truck go purdy fast?

  • @nickman888 Yeah it doesn't do too bad. I'm about finished with my new 4cyl engine build which should perform better than the engines in my other vids. I have fun with it. That's all that matters, right?

  • @JSTippie you got that right, so does a header make a world of difference in power and sound?

  • @nickman888 It does help with power and its the only way I can get the dual exhaust

  • @JSTippie yeah ik that man, is it 2 cyl pushing one muffler each?

  • @nickman888 Yes Sir! I got 1,4 through one and 2,3 through the other. You can't get that sound with a Y-pipe. Check out my other vid "One Bad Ranger II" with my custom fabbed header and Flowmaster 40's!

  • sounds like it should have been a turbo build

  • @evilsadvocate I'm in the planning process for building a turbo motor.

  • If I ever get another ranger im for sure going to run header and true duals on it for sure nice truck man!!

  • @20suburbanff01 Thanks man! Check out my other vid "One Bad Ranger 2". I changed out the packs for Flowmaster 40's and made a new header.

  • when you put your rpm gague (tach) on you hooked it up to the negitive part of your coil right?

  • @214dallas931 That one yes. The Cyberdyne Digital Speedo/Tach I have on there now is connected to my MSD 6-AL box.

  • @JSTippie ohh arit man thanks im getting a sunpro super tach for my ranger and i was just make sure if it was hooked up there. thanks man i wanna see more videos of your ranger man im going to put some new ones up off mine i need a new carb

  • best sounding ranger i believe i've heard!

  • @punkin1418 Thanks man, you should check out my new video with Flowmaster 40's!

  • Man fuck the plastic car haters. How did you get the 4barrel carb on it man did you cut the 2 port holes for it to take gas from all 4 barrels. What kind of ignition are you running and what type of exhaust headers are they? My 2.0 in my ranger is still running what made yours blow?

  • @jurm666 No turbo... yet.

  • im doin a 5.0l swap its gonna be badass dude cant wait

  • Comment removed

  • So that is a 2.0l 4-Cylinder with a 2.3 Head? I see the 2 barrel carb. How much better is that over the regular 2.0l? I blew 2 of them up when I was younger. Lead foot. They are a good little motor though. I also had a 4.0l V-6 in a ranger. That motor aint nothing but badass. She will take alicking and keep on ticking.

  • @Davey28car The regular 2.0l head was small and restrictive. I got 55,000 out of the 2.0 before i blew a hole in the #4 piston but it ran pretty well, all top end though. The 2.3l that I have in it now has quite a bit more guts than the 2.0.

  • @Davey28car the 4.0 ohv v6s are everybit as good as an 5.0 with the right moods there are scream through every gear best v6 ford ever made.

  • Sounds like my lawn mower when i choke it. lol

  • @94civiclxgrey You honestly have no life, do you? Didn't your mother ever tell you that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all? Of course that would mean you'll have to keep your mouth shut permanently. Probably better for the world that way. Oh and if your username is an indication of the car you drive, you'll be seeing my taillights fade in the distance from a heads up race.

  • @JSTippie Wow yeah i own a civic so ? oh btw aside from my civic i just finished the build on my lt-1 camaro that is in my videos where im halfway through the project, also soon to have video of my 350 Vortec in my 93 s10 or would you like to see my 95 silverado 6.5TD??? your choice how about a video of all of them i believe you need to just stfu keep driving your lawn mower and go back to sodomizing your brother! You really ought to stop wasting money a fuck'n 2.3N/a and get something bigger!

  • @JSTippie Don't yell at him, He obviously know's that his Honda IS a Lawn Mower........ Wait, That's what it is, Right? :/

  • @gibsonlespaul2 LMAO! +1

  • @gibsonlespaul2 lol my honda is a lawn mower excatly and my camaro and s10 are play toys. This is just as bad as a modified honda but atleast with a honda v-tec would kick in yo! XD

  • @94civiclxgrey My lawn mower sounds better and can probably out run it

  • @holden88s10 lol he would have been better off buying a honda at least v-tec could've kicked in yo lol.

  • i own a 2.3 and i honestly think you are wasting your time porting the head and camming it out because the only real way to get any power out of them is either spray or turbo

  • @50fordman I plan on building a turbo motor. Who says you can't have fun with an N/A motor though. Someone isn't an enthusiast...

  • @JSTippie im just saying what you have done to yours is pretty much for something to do because your not making a whole lot of power at all

  • @50fordman Technically I'm pushing out almost twice the power of stock.

  • @JSTippie No chance, a 4.0 only pushes 160 hp

  • gugugugugugugugugugaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • @nickman888 People like you really irritate me. First of all, you couldn't even possibly begin to comprehend the amount of time and craftsmanship that I put into this project. Secondly, your only skill is having the mental capacity of a 4 year old allowing you only derogatory thoughts and lack of appreciation because you actually haven't learned that yet. When you eventually grow up, you'll realize how childish you were and hopefully you'll have gained at least one skill to keep a job.

  • @JSTippie yeah people have no idea how involved this shit is i like the 4 banger rangers.

  • @YOUNGDUM42 Thanks man. Yeah engine building is a science and an art.

  • Sounds like my lawn mower

  • @bgump89 Must be a bad ass lawn mower then...

  • @JSTippie It really is man i can cut my grass in 2 hours and im on 3 acres my god its so fast lol jk. i say everyone likes a different style Go for it its your money.

  • bloody hell, that's sounds like a V8

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf Check out my new vids "One Bad Ranger II" and "One Bad Ranger Dyno Pull"

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf sounds like a mini go kart lol

  • @QTeddy7, LoL yea it does

  • sounds delicious :)

  • @cftigerz Sounds like someone farting everytime lol.

  • 83-88 Ford Rangers are the best!

  • nice job. i think that old ranger is in great shap so that in its self is a good thing. the mods u have added on are just a bonus in my mind :) sounds good to. i like the big chug in the motor even if it is a 2.0I

  • why a double pumper on 4 cylinder. Maybe too rich???

  • @chorald To be different. I may have had better luck with a 2 barrel, but at the time with the 2.0l set up the intake pulses were actually causing the vacuum secondaries to flutter open prematurely. I am rich on the top end now so I'm still trying to figure that out.

  • sounds kinda like my yamaha banshee lol

  • where do I get a cam for my 93 3.0? Idont know were to get one if any one could help me pleaz

  • Duals on a 2.3 dont do much perf wise. If you had a single 2.5 inch pipe with a 'pack on her, she'd lessen the weight, and it'd be just dandy. But if you dig the duals sound. I guess. Different strokes. lol. Could i borrow that header for my 93 stang? lol

  • @Powertotheslaves That header is shot, so I custom built one. Some time or other I will be posting another video (I switched out the packs for flowmasters as well). I don't have a jig for the header but I'm sure I could make one to mass produce them, haha.

  • @JSTippie so do you have the video to upload yet? I'd like to see it :)

  • @Z3CHYD Been real busy with school unfortunately but I'll get one up as soon as I have some free time. Holidays are coming up. I appreciate your interest.

  • @JSTippie Thats fine I can understand being busy with school, take your time bro

  • Sweet ranger, definitely had more power then my dads '83 with the 2.3 on like 33" tires i think, then it really didn't have any power with big tires and got 14 mpg lol. He had a 4 speed in his i think.

  • nice Ranger! next step is megasquirt and Turbo! jk

  • @MrTcandela08 That's actually exactly what I had in mind. Only thing standing in my way is money...

  • thanks so much for the reply we just got our 89 2.3 torn down it looks great in side the head is on the bench... any advice? or should i let the clean up begin were planning on just feathering the intake side but the exit side ..... we will be digging a tunnel to china we got a roller ranger cam and lifter early style ranger header ... we watch your clips all the time for inspiration can you post a fresh clip or two (just for the computer in the shop) trying to give my head a pep talk lol

  • just ran into your 2008 post about your 390 four barrel bogging you what did you ever do to get it fix?? the 600?? the metering block?? the black spring??

  • @GUE5TPA55 The 600 helped because it was mechanical secondaries. The 2.0l with such a high flowing head was actually causing pulsations in the intake manifold which was fluttering the vacuum secondaries open too early on the 390.

  • do you still have this beast? plus, can you make an update video on it?

  • @HamptonBallance Yeah I still got it! It's my daily. Current set up is a 2.3l, stock oval port head (found a crack in the ported one :(...), same cam, crane cams hydraulic roller 282 .450" lift, with 10.8:1 compression. Pushing out 121 hp @ 5500 and 141 ft-lb @ 3200 to the wheel on a Mustang dyno. I wish the ported head wasn't cracked, probably would have been putting out 150/180 or close to it. Update will come soon enough.

  • i have the same truck but i wanna put a 302 in it

  • @ridesnowboarder101 they are surprisingly easy to put a 302 in ... i put a 302 in my 1985 ranger ... think cheap when you do it ... i paid $300 for a set of motor mounts just for 302 conversion into a ranger and they would not work so i ended up buying a set of motor mounts for same year mustang with a 302 and it bolted right in ... i have been drag racing mine for the past 5 years now! i pulled gas tank and all fuel line out and put a 5 gallon fuel cell in the bed ( boat gas tank) works great!!

  • is this a 2.0L?

  • Yes it is.

  • @JSTippie so an inline 4cyl?

  • @19thepyrochilibean Yes sir!

  • lol that truck sux like you do !lol Piece of crap.

  • Well for sure let me know how it goes. i can't wait to rebuild the top end on mine.

  • That 2.3 should be a diesel, with a turbo. i love the mitsubishi engine... i like it though it shure as hell runs better then my 2.9L

  • My dad's got an 88 4x4 ranger with a 2.9 that we are looking at doing some work to, maybe dropping in an early 4.0l crank and boring it out to make it close to a 4.0l stroker.

  • @JSTippie I don't know about that... the 2.9L has some problems already with heads and head gaskets, i am just getting new aftermarket stronger heads, and some new redesigned gaskets, and hopefully that wil help. i would love to drop a Cummins 4BT itto mine someday.

  • @GrandCaravanSE, I had an 87 ranger 2.9l. I beat the thing and it still ran, it was very reliable. I heard with the 2.9's you either have a good one or a bad one.

  • My dad's 2.9 has over 200k on it, no problems but its starting to burn oil (rings). Those diesels are bad ass too.

  • @JSTippie Mine has 220,000 miles and the engine is in needing of a rebuild. i am going like i already said just do the top end, unless i notice something else. the only bad thing about mine is that it is an Auto.

  • You wouldn't happen to know which engines the M50D 5-speed manual transmission would bolt up to (4.0l perhaps), would you?

  • @JSTippie Nope, i'm sorry. if i have any questions about my truck i either look it up in the haynes manual, or just search the internet. but i am assuming, not fact, that it would fit all of the engine offererd that year. just for the simple fact that it would be hard to produce differnt manual trannys for each engine. possibly you would need a different bell houseing for each engine. but yet agian this is all off the top of my head, and this is a simple educated guess.

  • Looked it up and from what I found, all the Ford 60degree V6's used the same bolt pattern, however there is a short and a long input shaft version of the manual tranny... we'll see.

  • @JSTippie yea that makes sense. maybe you could just swap out the shaft. but it may be easier to just get a new tranny.

  • The tranny has been overhauled already... no sense in throwing away a good tranny.

  • @JSTippie Godd point, well if it does not work for your application then i guess you could always get one from the Junk yard.

  • True, we'll see what my dad wants to do.

  • @GrandCaravanSE the ones with removeable bell houseings r the same from v6 to 4 cylinders just different bell houseings

  • @kev40ranger2010 Really? I never really notitced that. I mean they look the same, butr I figure they were differnt to handel the differnt power of the 4- versus the V6.

  • haha wow sounds like shit looks like shit must make it well shit thats not true duals bud thats a y pipe it sounds like a damned kid with a pop can stuck on his wheel of his bike face the facts of life this thing BLOWS

  • It's sad reading what little punks like you write on other people's videos because you have no other hobby than to criticize other people's work due to the fact that you have no real SKILL to go out and do something for yourself. Show me some work you've done and I may give you some helpful hints, but I'm not hear to bust anyone's balls. Life is out there, its time to grow up dude.

  • Im sorry to say but you have no right to comment my comment because you have this POS ranger haha it makes me laugh hearing this thing even run

  • Honestly, who are you to say that I have no right to comment on your comment of my truck? Ah, what's that? No rebuttal on the fact that you have no skills? I thought so... So what do you drive? Or shall I ask what did mommy and daddy buy for you?

  • Ha your one sad son of a bitch aint ya what skills do you suposevly have over me and really your gonna say my parents buy all my shit for me ha i work my ass off for all my stuff and just cuz my stuff is nicer than yours in every way possible you gotta say my parents bought it for me im sorry but needa get your shit together maybe cut your hair and buy a better vehicle you cock suckin hippie ha i almost forgot your from florida so non of this really will even get to your head

  • Seeing is believing and I don't see any videos of anything that you own up here. Prove me wrong, I dare you! Mentioning the fact that I'm from Florida must mean you are from the north. I would say talk is cheap but that's all you guys are is talk. Tell you what, when you grow up, are old enough to drink, aren't still living with your parents and are having to support yourself then you can come back and talk to me because I'm done listening to your high school bullshit.

  • haha

  • thats the exact ranger im lookin for

  • piece of shit

  • So what is it you drive, and what modifications have YOU made to it? And was EVERYTHING funded by YOU?

  • lets see a vid of the flowmasters

  • it looks tuned well, but Why did you go with a 2.3? and not switched out the motor for something like the 5.0 V8? i dunno know about engines but i just know the 2.3 doesn't have alot of power to begin with....

  • 6000 rpms from that litte guy?

I'd like to know how high it goes. You really outta make a vid of it from the inside while driving, with a friend or something.

  • sounds like holyshize has a huge jellysickle up his ass. i love the shit outa your ranger bro and the true dual is awesome. but im sure you have already hear all that before. damn that guy made me wanna punch him in the mouth and its not even my video or truck. oh and whats with the uneven stance in the rear, you add a leaf on the right side to compensate for wheel hop?

  • Thanks man. Compliments are always welcome and I never get tired of hearing them. The uneven stance is just how the camera was angled considering I had it sitting in the back of an E250 cargo van. It might be slightly elevated (I've never really checked) due to a weak front left coil spring. They are all original 1987 springs so worn out springs are not out of the question.

  • it sounds better than my 2.3

  • Have you gotten any excessive noise tickets???

Damn bible thumpers here would have that truck impounded or, at the very least excersized to release the growling demons!!!

  • I actually did get a ticket for 'Noise Abatement Modification" so I got rid of the glasspacks and put FlowMaster 40's on it!

  • i dont think there is a such thing as a bad 2.0 NA ranger....and how can u have TRUE dual exhaust with a 4 banger....haha.....turbo needed

  • I seriously wish people, like you, would watch the WHOLE video before making comments on the "True Dual" thing. The header is split, modded it myself. And N/A motors can still make some power... so narrow minded. But yes, a turbo motor will be in the works soon.

  • I absolutely agree! All anyone with even a "teaspoon" of common sense has to do is notice the moisture coming from the exaust when the accelerator was depressed! If it was single, the vapors would come out evenly, which they do not...

2 cylinders per side mean alternating exaust to the pipes!!!

Nice btw. I had an 88 with a stock 2.0. Gutless but reliable!!!

  • LOL, yeah. Thanks btw, and when this was stock it wouldn't get out of its own way.

  • I see people like that guy in the forums all the time, hell my old 74 capri stayed with a 347V8 600+hp 5 speed beast of a Capri...N/A 2.0 Carbed 4 speed...people are so quick to dismiss the 4Bangers....they dont realize these ain't Honda you don't need vtec and a fartcan to go fast! Oh speakin of which we got a 92 Mustang that we're going to swap in a ranger 2.5l and T-5 into and I was wondering about your header you modded...I'll send you a message in better detail. I look forward to new vids!

  • Thats got to be one of baddest sounding N/A 2.3's i've ever heard in my life. Where the fuck do you find a 4 barrel intake for a 2.3? have you ever ran it on the strip? what kind of horsepower? thanks for posting thats one sick little truck

  • Thanks man. The intake is an Offenhauser intake. I'm not sure what kind of power this set up put out. This was a 2.0l with a 2.3l head. I just built a 2.3 and I will hopefully have a video of that up soon.

  • not trying to be a smartass or nothing but you got a nice truck...just one question. how do you get truel dual exhast out of an inline 4 motor?

  • Thanks man. I modified the header taking the single collector off, then running primaries from cylinders 1 and 4 to one collector, and primaries from cylinders 2 and 3 to another collector. So essentially its true dual exhaust with 2 cylinders running through each.

  • ok i see were your coming from. never thought or heard of it done like that. you got a 7.5 rear end in that thing?

  • Yeah, 7.5" rear w/ 4.10 gears and a Ford Racing LSD

  • sounds amazing

  • Wait, No turbo? :P

It's all good man. Not everybody needs boost to make good power. Boost lag is a PITA with a full load for a truck anyway. :)

  • i like the cam gear

  • Thanks man. I picked it up from my machinist who used to build ministock engines.

  • Great truck. I have a hobby of getting the most horsepower from smaller engines

using n/a induction systems and lightening frame components and rot/assy. I built a 2.3F sohc for my B series w/nitrous and a Holley 450. It

launces like a bike. Never mind Mr. Shize.

    He is mentally ill.

  • Sounds awesome man! And thanks. Oh and I'm not worried about Mr. Shize. As you can see, I pretty much shut him up. I'll be checking your page for vids of your B series but just a note now, if you don't have any, you should put some up.

  • My push mower is louder and badder than that piece of shit you long hair hippie fagboy bitch. Nice Liscense plate shot you idiot lol.Don't bother to reply you might hurt yourself lol.

  • So you are 33, have no videos posted and all you can do is say your push mower is better than my truck. What an accomplishment there... What am I supposed to do, blur out my license plate number as if some low life like you with nothing else to do but sit on your thumbs and spin doesn't track me down to talk shit to my face?? Bring it asshole... and you can't say I didn't warn you.

  • First of all Hippie, I give a damn about you or your piece of shit ranger. You aren't worth my time to drive there and meet you face to face fagboy. I will tell you at 6'5" and 290 lbs you might rethink me coming to visit you. Besides it's a long drive and I have things to do ! Say go back online and go beat off to old women or whatever because that's the action a tool like you is gonna get Fagboy!.

  • Quick question.... if it's not worth your time and you don't give a damn, then why do you take the time to write comments like that? And what is your problem with someone like me having a hobby? At least I'm doing something with my life. And if all you can call me is tool, Fagboy and Hippie, you might want to go back and finish highschool to help broaden your vocabulary.

  • Dually noted you pompus inbreed swine that has a dumb hobby!

  • ok first off you are just ein a total deuche bag dont you have somthing better to do with your life.... your 33 and you sit on youtube and talk shit like a little 7 year old... thats class bro i gotta hand it to ya pull that shit in the real world.. or wit your too scared to cause you know you will get your ass kicked so you do it on youtube

  • that is absolutly pointless unless you have the valve train to match. duration is rediculously to long

  • 1.89" Intake and 1.59" exhaust stainless steel swirl polished valves, dual valve springs, 10 degree valve locks, lightweight titanium retainers, roller followers and lash caps... is that the valve train to match?

  • very impressive. im sorry, i just see people everyday that think just because they put a big cam in, and nothing else to match, that they've created some sort of race machine. when in reality, your better off going with a smaller cam and a matching valvetrain.

  • Thanks man, and I know what you mean and most of the time people don't read the recommendations made by the camshaft companies about needing to upgrade their valve train components. The cam I am running is one of the most aggressive hydraulic cams available. If I really wanted to go nuts, I'd have to go with solid lifters which might be plans for the future.

  • yea you definatly need some stiff springs and strong retainers for that!

  • that shit is bad ass!!!! i love it...i got an 89 2.3l turbo ranger :)

  • cool man, sounds like my rotary lol

  • wow that is a pretty big carb for that engine. i used 390's on 318's and 305's. seems like a 2bbl would give you a little better performance.

  • hey my 93 is missing the ranger badge on the passenger side also

  • SICK!! What kinda RPMS you get out of it? Those 2.0's will turn 9000 easy on the track

  • SERIOUSLY... WHY.......?

  • Seriously.... why not?

  • Brother u got one wicked ass little truck man!!!!!!! Id love somethin like tht!!! Very nice job!!!!

  • Thanks man.

  • I like the sound of that one, and true duals on a 4-banger is just badass. I got fake duals on my 97 2.3 straightpiped an I love it

  • Thanks man! Just something I thought of, and went out and did it, just split the header, no big deal.

  • cool truck u need to make a driving vid

rangers are fun to work on

  • I wana see it run! Cool never seen this before!

  • Nice to see the old 2.0 given a little race love :D

    Now when's the 2.3T swap ;D?

  • Thanks. Turbo Swap will be whenever I have enough money to do it.

  • it's a 2.3L in it rangers never had a 2.0 that i no of . i could be rong but im pretty sure it's a 2.3L

  • 2.0 4cyl 2.8 v6 were offered in the earlier models pre 1985. Even rarer are the diesel rangers :)

  • yes, there was a Ranger with a 2.0 in it, it was the base model ranger and was available form 83 to roughly 85

  • the 2.0 was only made for the Rangers, and placed in them from 1983 - 1987. Mine is a 1987. In 1986-1987 ford tried some fancy electronically controlled single barrel carburetor with vacuum secondary, complete with a fuel mixture circuit that was controlled by the control unit getting feedback from an Oxygen Sensor... what a piece of crap!!

  • dude, you should totally make a driving video.

  • thats awesome !!

  • ford rules and all american cars rule

  • Hell yeah!

  • sweet ranger man

  • Thanks

  • we have a mustang and a ranger and they are both black with a red pen stripe!, its sweet

  • I plan on doing a black and chrome theme with this one.

  • Over $4,000 in the engine and it runs a 19 sec. quarter mile???

You must really really love that truck. I could never bring myself to dump that much money into something that slow.

  • To me its more about the workmanship than the outcome. I'm experimenting here, considering no one has a setup like this and information is hard to find. I just haven't found the correct combination yet.
