  • My favorite final fantasy, no doubt in my mind after hearing this theme again

  • "Someone said they saw Sir Auron in a cafe!"

  • blitzball!

  • This is still my favourite JRPG town/calm theme:) It must have some magic to it, sience I've listened to many OSTs and only this one is still the same value. Some tracks are timeless,

  • Great song. These 3 composers, along with Yasanori Mitsuda, also worked together on Front Mission Gun Hazard on the SNES, which also had a terrific soundtrack. Square really had the best music between the SNES and PS2 eras.

  • @mistaphill Yep. Mitsuda had some really overlooked pieces from Gun Hazard.

  • It was very neat that Luca had an area to listen to the entire soundtrack.

  • @Coldmilk51312

it did ? lol i did not know that wow

  • @Coldmilk51312 What, it does????? LOL

  • @comeondown12345 Yeah it does! I do know you take a left somewhere, and it'll lead you to a theater. It's best to get pretty far in the game first since the songs won't unlock until you've heard them in the game first.

  • @Coldmilk51312 awesome, thanks. Ill probably go check it out some time, and yeah ive finished the game =D

  • I spent a ton of time in Luca, and was always thankful for the music. Then I played FFX-2, and also spent a ton of time in Luca. And the music there was a far cry from this great piece. X-2's Luca sounded like a bad porno soundtrack.

  • This song used to put me to sleep like a baby...

  • FFX stands as one of only 3 game OST's I've bought. One of my favourite games of all time.

  • @439613 What are the other two?

  • @dissident93 Tekken Tag Tournament and Halo.

  • @439613 Cool, thanks for letting me know.

  • @439613 Funny how all those three games are getting a remake within a year from now :p

  • @Bj0rnSH haha wow you're right. I guess a great soundtrack elevates a game.

  • Just like Te4RHyP3 and videogamerlover999 said, this game does have an amazing soundtrack. And I would consider the game a beautiful work of art. They have sections in the game for absolutely no reason, and they just pan the camera out over a waterfall to see the horizon.

    Truly a beautiful game!

  • i had a dream the other day that i was jogging in a city and this was playing in my head the hole time :)

  • @paulgregs2006 I was walking down JFK Blvd in downtown Philly one Friday during rush hour and had this song in my earphones. People and cars were rushing everywhere and this song brought it all to life. Try it out :-)

  • For all the troubles in our world, i'm just glad that our entertainment industry can be so full of wonder...

  • This song really shows the escape this city has on the folks of Spira with blitzball.

  • This is the most hightest quality ever on youtube? If not, please give me better! :3

  • Three composers on this very soundtrack, all tracks are very good. Unfortunately I can't recognize anyone else's work on the soundtrack besides Hamauzu's. He's got piano all over his music. Uematsu's themes have mystic feeling to them, but Nakano... no, I simply have hard time telling the composers apart from each other.

  • I think game music is so under rated. One of my friends said that game music isn't music at all and that really annoyed me as this type of music doesn't get appreciated that much.

  • @FinalFantasyLov3r124 Does your friend happen to like pop at all? lol

  • @PrototypeX17 Yeah they like it a lot. xD

  • @FinalFantasyLov3r124 Their loss.

  • Man, I wish you could explore that whole city in the whole game.

  • Yes! I would find myself coming to Luca on many the occasion to visit the Sphere Theater, and this piece would always greet and accompany me on my short walk from the save sphere located outside the blitz stadium. Now, I liked FFX-2, but FFX's music in Luca blew X-2's Luca music out of the water.

  • Best game ever? To me, yes.

  • @calvinsora101 Agreed, 100%.

  • @calvinsora101

Me, too, man. Forever and always. There's really tough competition, but none have ever surpassed this masterpiece.

  • final fantasy has this weird tendancy to have the best of all instrumental music, even moreso for FFX. This music is quite like crack, really damn addicting.

  • I must say, this & silence before the storm, are 2 of the many fantastic songs on this touching game.

although, 1 problem, where is the Blitz stadium in the picture? D=

  • @kesson12 it is on top of the picture....where 4 "bridges" or something are pointing on it ^.^

  • @danthruni Thanks! but if you just read down a bit, you'd notice id just seen it after i commented xD

    Thanks anyway

  • I could imagine myself standing out no a breeze listening to this music. Love this mandolin-like sound and the bass.

  • Any way to download the image as a wallpaper? It looks awesome.

  • i was about 40 seconds in just about to switch and something in my mind said "dont go" and im glad i stayed - damn this game is a fine piece of entertainment

if any rpg could qualify as a statement that games are art, this is would definately be it.

  • I honestly couldn't have said it any better. *bows*

You know what I'd love to do? Get a big city, say, Chicago, New York, etc., on a big ball game day (For some reason, I can only think of baseball fitting, but meh. I'm not even a big baseball fan. ._.). Hook up the entire city (or at least a big portion, most importantly near the stadium) with speakers. Then, play this song. I don't know why, but if I make enough money...

Nah, it'd cost WAY too much, but man, wouldn't it be cool... ^_^

  • One of my favorite song of FFX , just amazing and captivatingggg! :D, and the game kick ass literally with the monster arena, ( too bad I did'nt have the international version to fight the dark aeons and Penance :D )

  • wonder how Uematsu got the sound for 1:06 to 1:33, sounds fucking awesome

  • sounds like a keyboard/synthesizer set to organ to me.

Uematsu's instrument of choice is the keyboard (for playing). then again, he didn't compose the entire FFX soundtrack.

  • Sounds like a somewhat percussive organ with reverb. I always liked that sound and admired how its simple inclusion added so much to the part. The Luca theme is definitely a high mark in a soundtrack filled with high marks.

  • Uematsu didn't do this song. One of the composers that worked with them did this song.

  • @SergeCloudUzuki Possibly Masashi Hamauzu?

  • @bigtallguy97 It's Junya Nakano. In the 10 months since I posted that comment, I figured it out haha.

  • @dice1561 Others have said organ, I'm going to go with steel drums! I'd bet money on it, in fact.

  • Great song from a great game.

  • That settles it, im getting this game again.

  • Whyd ya sell it? This game is hands down THE BEST PS2 GAME EVER!!!!

(dont feel too bad, I sold the PoP trilogy and I want them again lol)

  • i don't care what anybody says, i really LOVE his soundtrack!=D it's wonderful!^_^

  • it suits the whole passion of the story.. i remember this game as one of my all time favorites just because of the good music

  • i could see that ff13 if someone like Yasunori Mitsuda did the score

  • The end of FFX was surprisingly easy for me. In my first playthrough I had the Magus Sisters and some celestial weapons, and Sandy did 99999 with each hit to the last bosses.

The arena was a different story though...

  • Yea, it was a tad on the easy side my first playthrough, I recently replayed it and it was even easier then I remembered. Replays of old psx games are much more challenging (xenogears, cc, ff3).

  • You can't possibly loose against the end bosses because of the Auto Life status. It sucked that it was too easy. The monster arena however...........****shiver****

  • Junya Nakano easily composed the weakest songs in FFX... but I guess that's what happens when you're working with the likes of Uematsu and Hamauzu. I guess he got this song right though.

Reminds me of how much I'm looking forward to FFXIII and FFVersusXIII's soundtracks. You can't go wrong with Hamauzu and Shimomura, they almost makes up for the fact Nobuo's gone. :P

  • Not in my eyes. FF12 sucked, and the major factor behind that was the absence of the geniuses from before. Uematsu? Gone. Sakaguchi? Not there. Ito? He was there, but he screwed up big time. Amano? Same thing that happened to Uematsu. What the hell is happening to Final Fantasy?

  • I disliked FF12 as well, especially compared to previous instalments, but as far as I know Hitoshi Suckimoto won't be involved with either FF13 or Versus13. So, as far as the soundtracks go, those games should be amazing. :P

I guess you really can't replace Sakaguchi though. I wish Sony'd try to counter MS's moneyhats a little to try and get Mistwalker-games on the PS3. I don't want to have to buy a 360.

  • i like it better in X-2 luca's music even thought this game is way better than X-2

  • I never actually finished this game. I got all the way to sin too. :/

  • Which part? The fins, or facing off against the thing, charging your ship before he inevitably kills you?

  • Right before the fight with the fins

  • Nice and peacful. I wonder what a lot of those instuments are i'm hearing.

  • heh nice pick.

as a whole I liked FF6's soundtrack less than the majority of people. Aside from terra's theme and a few others not much else stood out to me.

I liked VIII's and X's soundtrack probably the most as a whole tho.

  • anybody else gets reminded of Chrono Cross music when hearing this? same kinda feeling eh.

    Man I love CC music

  • FFIX and FFIV are my favorite music wise, most people like FFVI, and I think that's because they either relive the game through it or they suffer from high nostalgia, cause music wise it's good, but not as good as most people seem to think it is. (I must admit though that FFIV being on my list is probably also a bad case of nostalgia)

  • No, I seriously think FF6 has the best music in the series. FF4 is #2, but for two reasons: it made high use of the early "trumpety/flutey" sound that many early SNES RPGs did, and there are a few songs that aren't memorable or superb. I'm still playing FF9, and the music is awesome, but still not as good as FF6.

  • I agree. FF6 has some of my favorite songs ever. I felt the character's themes fit really well and "The Fanatics" did its job perfectly, IMHO. Its not nostalgia when you've first played the game in this millenium.

  • Wow, it's almost been 200 songs since the last FFX one here.

This was a pretty magical game for me as a kid. It was also the first PS2 game I ever played.

  • Wonder song! Really, FFX's soundtrack as a whole is pretty impressive. In my opinion, it's the best soundtrack for a Final Fantasy game.

  • You might want to try VI ;).

  • I, too, love FFX's OST and consider it to be my favourite, though I'm not much of a FF fan in the first place. I love Nakano & Hamazu's work on it.

  • Eh, I don't like it as much as others in the series. There's not much there. Sure, you have Seymour's Battle theme, the Hymn, and all that other stuff, but that's not much. Hell, look at FF6. Every song in there could be on this list.

  • Great choice!

  • first!! song doesnt sound that great to me i think chrono trigger has best music and FF6
