I have the Record demo and was making music with it in about 5 minutes! It's laid out really well, easy to use (what I've used so far), sounds really good, goes great with Reason so you can use all the refills that reason has (which sound great!), and Reason has enough sounds to make great music in itself. I think I'm gonna buy the whole Reason/Record package for these features. If you want to use a bunch of 3rd party plugs and such, this would not be for you.
technically you can't use plugins for it to be efficient? what a load of rubbish.. you can IF they are coded well.. and perhaps props should optimise their code BETTER for AMD's... as my single core intel out performs my higher spec dual core AMD... but skimping on a decent pc / sound card, what do people expect miracles?!?!
i like that he was frank about the niche this was designed to fill-namely, for beginners. Propellorheads' website tries to exalt it's shortcomings by saying it's for musicians, not sound engineers. I hate marketing.
don't be quoting US prices.. try European prices where we pay a lot more.. even worse if it's US based products e..g. mackie / cakewalk etc.
your talking about a "bundle" for NEW users.. props were quite happy to annoy me by offering everyone new a cheapo price at a demo I was at.. while I'd paid a lot more for a few products more recently at a demo.. so they don't value customer loyalty by that action.. and as a result can lose my money. they need to update their exsisting ish now.. BIG time
"It's not a DAW, it's a recording program for musicians not engineers. That's why it has a mixing console modeled after those used in the studio by engineers, because musicians are like that...totally weird" xD
some neat tools but reason is behind the times. This should have happened years ago, and it has no plugins! Logic is way better, Reason is a cool instrument to have but sucks as a DAW.
you can, but you are going to have a lot more issues in trying to assign midi parameters, editing the audio once you stream it in, and just having the overall flexibility you normally would with a full-blown DAW. I mean, Reason Record is cool for producers who are doing light audio work and just love Reason. But for serious stuff I would recommend getting Logic as a DAW. Reason is still good for midi-production though, I use it for its great sound and Rewire into Logic.
That will certainly work. Protools 8 in a monster program, and I heard in plays well with Reason, and also does a better job working with external hardware such as your motif. Go for it, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.
YOu can take your Record tracks and bounce them to a folder and then drag and drop the tracks into ProTools for a faster method. and now you can bounce all tracks at the same time!
I have my Triton Rack, MOtif, and 3080 to record inside of Record, I play on time so I don't need the midi but it sounds real nice I mean excellent going in! That 9000k board is just as nice! It's just like the real thing! I do serious work, in Record it's not some lil toy, you don't need logic this is a one environment DAW. I don't know why guys say that.
it'll crash a PC. if its not fast enough.

Reason + ReCycle + Record = Versatility on a budget.
Adrenalinex03 2 years ago
budget .. hardly.. I own reason + recycle .. if you add record into that.. it comes more into line with other priced DAW's
cosine303 2 years ago
Seeing as you can get both record and reason in a package for $500 and recycle costs $200...$700 isn't that expensive for what your getting.

I love Propellerhead. I fell in love with REASON the very first time I started using it (version 1.0).
But I love actual instruments/devices even more.

u don't need plugins. by wiring up its own devices certain ways can make the same sound as vst plugins.

wiring is nice, if your about spending time toying with legos, and not making music, either as business of casual.
