Actually my friend in Vegas was called onto stage as the strait man, and he could not figure out how it was done, even though he locked Teller in the tank. This is water in the tank, so far as he could tell and not just a thin fake water layer.

He did say Penn Did whisper to him that even if he mistakenly guesses the correct card keep saying no....

@quezcatol That wouldn't solve anything, like Jags said, the mask has a breathing device that goes into the nose. Note how you could not see his nostrils. Whether or not he has water in his mask, would not make a damn difference to this trick.

Just saying I do a lot of magic as well and you can see at 13:54 fog inside his mask increasing and decreasing......put it on the big screen if you cant see it :) so he could breathe the whole time

Frame advance from 09:38 to 09:40 and watch Penn place his left hand (guess what is in his hand) on/in the top of the tank.

This effect was created for Saturday Night Live many years ago and has been performed by Penn & Teller many times. Teller always comes out alive to perform another day. Penn has stated more than once that magicians who employ real danger in their acts are immoral and would not be allowed on the show by the producers. Rest assured that Teller was never at any time in any danger. Sorry, just thinking logically. Great entertainment though. Participants reactions to the induced panic very funny!

nice trick this one i know how it was done... or rather how i would do it but not bad. And its funny because it would have been more real had penn passed out at around the 4 min mark and just stayed that way like the average person.

I thought this was very amature for Penn and Telller. You can see teller's chest breathing all the time meaningthe mask is being fed with air and the struggle with Penn trying to get the key off teller is the amature. Mask has a breathing device. Penn Jillette is very open and honest about never being in any kind of danger in any magic trick he or Teller have done. It is never dangerous, the fact we are all talking about it, is good enough for @PennJillette and @ MrTeller.

Brilliant trick, even though you can see how Penn gave the card to Teller at ~8:50 (when he is holding the key) - the name card is wider than a playing card and there were plenty of time to move that card to the inside of the mask. However, the execution and another person with a timer really make it an amazing show.
