@poop4256:surge is on acceleration, not deceleration. either way, it's made that noise ever since I've gone single turbo years ago and the car hasn't had a turbo hiccup yet so I'd say, "no". ;)

@PM332 compressor surge has nothing to do with the motion of the car, your bov may not be able to handle the volume of pressure exiting it, creating that sputtering noise.

@BUILDSforDRIVING: thanks, yeah I"ve had that for years now and just ignore it. car doesn't have issues, incl has ABS (so speed sensors ok). I think I've had it since I went AEM EMS but have to sever some wire or do something silly and just hadn't bothered getting around to it. some day when I get big, ;)

@takimakikaki : It is the large HKS GT wastegate. I've also used Turbonetics' large 2-in swing-valve NEWGEN wastegate with success on another turbo car (BMW M3) with 550whp.

Thanks. I couldnt beleive you made that much power esp. on just 22psi, i thought AEM meth nozzle were limited to 640hp spray.

perhaps with bigger nozzle I could go more power, but it doesn't limit you. you just have less meth to work with. there's still fuel going in the car. BTW, boost at 640whp was actually 22psi, 28-29 psi at the 760whp level

What exhaust manifold and timing are you on?

HKS-style one from Sound Performance, with 3in recirculated turbo-back (now has 3.5in open dump since video), and about 11deg at ramp-up to 14-15deg up top when meth is turned on (9-11deg if off).

Great! I've also had another one on an E36 M3 turbo and that worked out great too!

no prob. MCS is a great car, refined and fun to drive. Obviously go for newer turbo "S" over the older supercharged "S". STR-4, while not as refined, will have more hp potential due to larger displacement, however, especially when using pump fuel. and it will be cheaper to fix stuff, probably more tuners, too. Both would be fun.

Thanks!actually I've done that testing b4 on a turbo M3, you gain and lose: gain in load vs. rpm, lose in load vs. mph. if you get better lock-up though, you can traction and it's win-win (+ better mpg).

What I really need are simply bigger tires (275 RA1s), lol
