I was in the Northwest Cabarrus Trojan Regiment in 1997, 1998, and 1999. In '97 we had 158 members (99 horns, 36 guard, the rest percussion). We placed in the top 20 at a BOA regional in Atlanta. I still have the picture of that group.
Whittington got there in 1998, which was my sophomore year. That year we still had about 150 members, but he ran a lot of people off and it got pretty small after that. I think there were 40 or 50 freshmen in the band in 1997, and fewer than 10 of those were still in the band as seniors.
You kids act like marching band is a life or death matter. Who cares if there is over 100 people in it? That just means that more people can suck and it's less noticeable. Honestly, I'm happy with a small band, because when we do win, it's for actually being good, rather than hiding mistakes.
Jealousy? Why would anyone be jealous of Northwest's marching band anymore? They haven't been anything to be impressed about since Whittington's first year, since he hadn't yet had time to ruin everything that Mr. Estep and Mr. James built.
Does anyone else remember when Northwest's marching band had between 150 and 200 members, won every competition they attended, and was actually a real marching band?
Whittington is a douche! I was so glad when he left for South Rowan. Good riddance!!!!!!!!!!
