This is a good video and I would have used it on my blog except for two reasons. One is misspelled words, lack of capitalization on certain words, and wrong use of the apostrophe. The other reason is that it would be good if you quoted your sources for the statistics. Just put the source on the slide. Clean it up, redo it, and people might share it. wethepeoplefree
In the time of the 16-19th century, the Native Americans owned a wide array of weapons including guns, 16 million of them were exterminated. This video is so biased and ignores how those genocides were committed in the first place.
This is obviously something important that I found by typing "Who wants to start an argument" on YouTube. So, my opinion is that firearms should be kept by anybody who is legally allowed to. The only problem with this is the people that use guns for unapproved things, like shooting a person because their alive. This is a problem that I think can't be solved because there will always be corrupt people. Besides, I don't want to fist fight somebody who found out how to get in my house.
Part 2: human rights, not being able to live and feel safe because your hands are tied behind your back. Gun control must be abolished and I feel the US is a model of a country who's rights concerning firearms is ideal, and the rest of the world should look upon us and see how well we behave, and look at the statistics of crime by firearms a year, and compare it to a country with gun control laws enacted. That should open their eyes.
I am a Democrat, I support pro-choice, I support gay rights, I support socialistic governments, and I support the safe use of firearms world wide. I look for this data, rather than the shit-spewing news to tell me it, and I am concerned about the gun control crisis. Hell, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in WWII said that he was scared of invading the US because he said, and I quote: "There will be a rifle behind every blade of grass." Being able to defend yourself is important. This is a violation of
The problem with guns in the USA is that those who say "guns don't kill people - people kill people" don't want to do anything about the people either.
@criticalsection Nothing. Which is why if you take the Law abiding citizens guns away they are defenseless against those who acquire weapons illegally.
@ilikeminifridges I never said anything about taking anybody's guns away. I was implying if the problem is truly the people, then do something about the people.
Fact of the matter is, in Florida where I live for instance, crime is lower because criminals know that people are able to carry legally. Not only that, but people should have the right to protect themselves from anything.
The Japanese said something like this " we would not attack America because behind every blade of grass is a rifle"
An extremely low number of crimes are from people who legally obtained a firearm. In every single country that still has banned guns, the crime rates went
Fact is most criminals get guns from off the street not store so gun laws have no affect. One thing is all the redneck if our gov trys to take our guns will take care of them or die trying. I not hating on them I know that what would happen in my area(PA state).
Bad logic. People in hospitals die more than people who aren't. So, if you want to live, don't go into hospitals. See the error?
USA has the most liberal gun laws of developed nations, yet the most gun violence. NE USA has the lowest owned guns rate and the lowest rate of gun violence. Iraq had lots of guns, but Hussein exterminated rebels when Bush stopped short of Baghdad. Claiming gun control caused genocides is absurd. The populations were dispossessed minorities years before the genocides
FYI, all the countries listed in the beginning would have exterminated all those ppl weather or not they had weapons, the only things guns would have done is gotten more ppl on both side killed
@mr121220 Well at least the badguys would have had some losses. Are you saying that those that make these laws are in the right and that if it happens we should not question them? Lives are lost because people fight. if somebody threatens you, would you fight? I sure as hell would.
@LithiumHammer no i am not saying ppl who make the laws r right, i am saying in the cases listed in the video, more guns would just mean more deaths, with the same outcome,
@mr121220 Maybe. I highly doubt that, since there are more civilians then there are criminals (ATM) and criminals would start to die out rather fast because they would assume people don't have guns.
@mr121220 Normally I would agree, but in this case, as soon as you've fired upon innocent people, you have willingly forfeited any objective right to life you have.
Switzerland issues a rifle to each household in their country. They train one adult how to use the weapon, they have the lowest crime rate in the world.
not exactly correct ......in Switzerland every adult male that did complete his service in the army can keep his rifle and take it home ,to be ready if needed for lower responce time ,but yes crime rate is very low there ,guess gun control can be something positive too, like making sure every household has at least one
Great post, Our founding fathers for seen the danger of people trying to de-arm America! I warched the people that are against the constitutional rights to bare arms, most are talking to be talking! A lot like of people on talk shows and from LA do not want Americans to own guns because they hate what the Americans stand for! When ever you see someone trying to ban guns or make it impossible for people to be able to be protected under the constitution, look at who they are what they stand for!
Good presentation now fact :Anti gun Liberals believe that the Police can protect you and that only police should have guns.Truth the Police are only minutes away when you have seconds to live.Truth all they do is clean up the mess,an put a toe tag on your body.Remember a gun in hand is worth ten cops on the phone..Truth.
hard to believe that even if a large number of Jews had owned guns they would have been able to put up much organised resistance against the Nazi state. Would it have made Hitler think twice, I doubt it.
@jesoby "Then the resistance movement decided to act. Armed men rose up everywhere. Bursts of firing. Grenades exploding. We children stayed flat on the ground in the block. The battle did not last long. Toward noon everything was quiet again. The SS had fled and the resistance had taken charge of running the camp."
-Elie Wiesel
A small resistance could overthrow Buchenwald. Couldn't a MUCH larger group have made Hitler think twice?
The mere fact that your stupid ass is trying to present gun control as part of the reason for the extermination of various people is disgusting. Korea barely any arms at the outset and stomped the US. Vietnam as well.
You're actually trying to propose that a person without a gun is useless. I'm for gun ownership, but dickheads like you just hinder the cause by presenting stupid opinion as fact.
@elspoko im with you, i don't own a gun, but i want people to own guns because it's so painfully obvious what happens to people when they are put in a position to have no right to own one.
@ZackAttack261 Not only that but its a beautiful rifle. I got myself one in amazing shape. Still has the hammer and sickle and is dated 1934. Best 130 ever.
He says it because it is true. Gun control makes it easier for these governments to comit mass murder. Someone without a gun is not useless, but they find it harder to defend themselves. But most governments who pass gun control are not trying to start a genocide.
@N33DL3R You need to read up on your history son. Especially in the aforementioned wars. You can also add Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. They have less weaponry now then did the Korean and Vietnamese armies, and have done more damage to the general population.
Governments become out of control when we let them. It is our fault. We let them kill us. We choose to follow instead of looking into things for ourselves.
@N33DL3R Amen. It's true that the American and Australian governments, among others, are not TRYING to commit genocides. I'm sure their intentions are pure, noble and good. The problem, of course, is that good intentions are no substitute for knowing how a buzz-saw works. I don't own a gun; but, I would like to know that if and when I were in a position to buy one, and felt the need for one to protect me and mine, I would have access to them.
@eequinn Several Republican presidents have advocated gun control: Nixon deemed guns an "abomination"; Reagan pushed the Brady Bill; Bush Sr. sought to limit guns to "sporting purposes". That doesn't include mayors and governors. I have tended to vote Democrat, but I do not favour gun control.
@MrMadHeat progressives exsist in both parties. Look at Mayor Bloomberg, he claims to be a republican, and he is an anti-gun wing nut. I left the republican party several years ago. I am an independant. I am a constitutionalist. I said nothing about republicans or democrats in my response. All I said was to read that book. Period.
Wow, this video was very surprising. I love my rights as a gun owner, and I would love to learn more about these instances of gun control. Could anyone direct me to sources of this info (Wikipedia works) so I can do some reading of my own? I want to be able to have more information at my disposal when someone starts bashing gun owners and I need to defend my position as an owner.
Nice job displaying 11 examples of 'Post hoc ergo propter hoc', about 20 examples of selective statistics without context thereby twisting the facts, 3:21 minutes of populism, and oh, at 1 minute into the video I stopped counting the numbers of rapes against the English language. Some people really suck. Please, please, PLEASE. Discuss on such matters with the intention of getting the best solution out of it, and not with the intention of misleading people, luring them into your failing logic.
In 1996, in the wake of a mass shooting, the Australian government seized more than 640,000 guns from its citizens. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in the next two years, armed robbery rose by 73%, unarmed robbery by 28%, kidnapping by 38%, assault by 17% and manslaughter by 29%.
According to the U.S. Justice Department Bureau of Justice Statistics, although the rates of murder and rape are higher in the U.S., England has surpassed us in its rate of robberies, assaults, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts. And the English crime rate has been rising while the U.S. rate has been falling. In 1998 the mugging rate in England was 40% higher than in the U.S., furthermore, assault and burglary rates were nearly 100% higher in England than in the United States.
If gun control goes down in the USA there will be civil war as well. You would have a divison of individual states not willing to comply. Members of the military would also refuse to obey unlawful orders. There would be violent stand offs all over America with hundreds of thousands of killed and wounded. Entire city blocks would be sealed off for weeks at a time. The media would be controlled with no coverage. This would be the first step toward tyranny. Fight againest gun control now!
The reason that didn't happen after Katrina is the same reason people allowed themselves to be taken to concentration camps in Germany during WW2, the same reason they didn't rush the guards. Most people thought that the Government was there to help them, those that thought otherwise were more afraid of losing their lives. Fear, and the conception that they're good people looking out for us. How safe were those people that had stayed after the troops left them unarmed from looters though?
People lack the courage, and are also fearful of any other consequences that may come to bear if they aren't killed. "All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse."
Just FYI though there was armed resistance. Those that stuck to their guns (according to "authorities") were looters or other various criminals. People are far too often willing to accept isolated incidents as a precursor of what is to come. Especially under the guise of helping others. A government big enough to give you everything you need/want is also big enough to take it away.
America would have little crime if there weren't these unconstitutional laws on the books about gun control. If every citizen were able to defend themself, we'd need less police. The police get their right to protect the people from the people they protect.
It boils down to this, I trust no man with my personal safety, and I will defend myself, my liberties, and my property from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Blaming guns for murder is like blaming silverware for obesity. Murders happened long before guns were invented, and stats show that areas with tougher gun laws have higher crime rates.
Criminals prefer theit victims to be unarmed. look at what happened in Australia and England. The gov. disarmed the public and the crime rate went up because criminals don't obey the gun laws.
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." Thomas Jefferson
Your info on Australia and England is also wrong. The crime rates were unchanged in both countries, so apparently criminals don't care if their victims are armed.
"laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind... as that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, institutions must advance also, to keep pace with the times".
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44%. In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
Analysis of figures from the European Commission showed a 77% increase in murders, robberies, assaults and sexual offences in the UK.
Get your facts strait instead of echoing the communist propaganda you've been indoctrined with.
The population of Australia increased by 3.8 % over that time so the rate had DECLINED
"homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent"
Gun homicides in Victoria numbered 7 (count 'em) in 1996 and 19 in 1997 - the year of the gun ban. That's an increase of 171%, not 300%. Victoria has about the same population as Louisiana. Louisiana had 303 gun homicides in the same period
Do a search for "John Stossel Links Gun Control to Higher Crime Rates" here on youtube. It's a "20/20" piece done on how Washington DC did with its ban on all firearms. The fact that violent crime increased or stayed at the same level, even though the rest of the united States had a decline of violent crime. The fact remains taking firearms away from law abiding people only makes them easy targets for criminals.
You may want to note the density of the population in Victoria vs the Density of population in Louisiana. I'd put money that most of the "gun homicides" in Louisiana were mostly in densely populated areas, where gangs have a tendency to thrive. Places like New Orleans maybe? Then there is the factor of how strict are the laws here vs there. Most places in the united States you don't have to worry about the death penalty anymore. Cultural differences, etc. should all be considered factors, yet...
"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government." James Madison
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson
"Some men look at constitutions with sanctimonious reverence, and deem them like the ark of the Covenant, too sacred to be touched. They ascribe to the men of the preceding age a wisdom more than human, and suppose what they did to be beyond amendment"
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
So then you agree that an unarmed man is a slave, and that fascist dictators use gun control to enslave the people and force others to abide by their power.
If I had to chose between the right to free speach and the right to bear arms, I'll chose the right to bear arms. Then I can say what I want because I have a gun.
"Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live." Oscar Wilde
The right for an individual to protect their life, liberty and property from anyone bent on taking them away, regardless if it is a fascist dictator or a common criminal, is what the second ammendment is about.
"I can say what I want because I have a gun" means that if I am attacked for my political, religious, or any other belief, I won't get swept away by the "Gustappo".
I'm not telling you to own a gun, but to respect my right to own a gun.
Why do think that owning a gun is such a terrible thing? My theory is you've heard it echoed by the fascist progressives in DC, Rosie O'Donnel, and the state run media.
"Tell a lie long enough and loud enough and people will believe it" Adolph Hitler.
"For in reason, all government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery." Jonathan Swift
I don't think that owning a dun is a terrible thing.
I just call bullshit on all of the bogus "proof" that gun owners like to spout about guns making the world a safer place. If that were true then the USA would be the safest place in the world with practically zero crime.
"I'd rather die a free man that to live as a slave" That goes for most people who truly strive to remain free. Freedom is maintained by the multiple factors. The reason that sovereign firearm ownership is vital to freedom is to make sure that the people have the power. As a voice, and if our voices are no longer heard then to make our rifles speak for us. Firearms are our liberty teeth. To ensure that our rights are honored. They are a tool to maintain our freedom, and nothing less.
It was really a long reply to someone else attempting to misuse Thomas Jefferson's quote. So I figured I'd give an example of some of his other quotes. The Man thought there should be a revolution every time the government encroached on any rights. Which especially includes the right to bear arms. Quite frankly in many instances I doubt I could say it much better. If you hadn't noticed, I did state my opinion. And just so you know, there really is no argument. We have the RIGHT to bear arms.
When the second article of the bill of rights was put into place it said this "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". It doesn't say we're supposed to be limited in any way, or in the selection of firearms. If the government wants to change it they can, but only with the support of the people. People know their history in this respect, and I doubt will ever fully relinquish that RIGHT
I figured seeing as how you have the notion that guns are bad, you might take the information provided by a liberal media source like ABC. I doubt you'd take my word for it, and any data I can obtain or find would be someone else's. The data is often skewed by whoever put it out anyway, due to the lack of objectivity. People usually lean one way or another on this subject. So how is that any better than stating quotes? Lazy thinking is putting stock in percentages and lying with numbers.
Looking at the raw data as you put it can also be misleading. Looking at the number of people that died from firearms would include suicides, and cases of self defense. To state that all cases of crimes that have been avoided due to the ownership of a firearm have been reported would also be ignorant, the numbers simply aren't an accurate depiction. Your notion of lazy thinking seems to cover a broad spectrum. Is this video truly any more "misleading" than that of those who want "gun control"?
The fact is that guns do reduce crime simply by being able to show you have it. However your comment about "If that were true then the USA would be the safest place in the world with practically zero crime". Owning guns doesn't completely eliminate crime, harsher laws do. People shoot others in the head and are let out within 20 years some as early as 7 years after murdering people. That is why the murder rate here is higher, taking guns away from law abiding people will only increase crime.
Even the supreme court decided that the District of Columbia gun ban was bad, and finally conceded to the fact that it increased violent crimes (mugging/robbing, carjacking, murder etc.). Therefore deciding to allow people in the District of Columbia to own firearms again. The "raw data" as you put would conflict with your apparent idea of "lazy thinking" seeing as its data someone else gathered. Calling people lazy when you don't have an answer doesn't make your argument
Now I'm going to tell you my idea of lazy thinking. Lazy thinking is when a person follows another without verification of facts, when someone simply listens to another and considers the information they receive as infallible, when one doesn't seek knowledge past a classroom. That is lazy thinking. Having the ability to remember from memory quotations by some of the greatest thinkers in history from memory is not lazy, its a gift. Although words of another, quotes can help validate ones argument
Actually after the Handgun ban in England the violent crime rate rose 40% within 6 years. I thought using quotations was no substitute for an argument and "lazy thinking". The "raw data" depends on where you get the "raw data". Places like "the disaster center", and "FBI" have dramatically different numbers for the same years. I notice you're quick to dismiss gun control as the problem, but you don't state what was to blame.
I do actually have proof of the claim that harsher laws eliminate crime. Ever heard of Count Vlad Dracula Tepes, or Vlad The Impaler? A mass murderer to be sure, but the punishment for breaking most crimes was death. He got the name Vlad Tepes (the impaler) because when people were put to death their head was places on a pike. Having such harsh laws he actually placed precious relics in the center of villages and people could pick them up, but they dare not take them in fear of death.
There are multiple instances in history where harsh laws equal less crime. If you have the fear of your own death or absolute imprisonment there is far less likelihood for people to commit murder due to true consequences. Where as it may not eliminate "crimes of passion" and people foolish enough to think they can get away with it. Those that think they can, will at least think a lot harder before doing it.
Well tell me one criminal that does not think they can get away with it. Hello they all think they can or they would not do crimes int he first place. What planet or college did you come from?
According to this video, let the liberals be the ones to put up gun free home signs in front of their house, hell if they want to disarm legit citizens the right to defend themselves let them live gun free for a few years.Especially in bad neighborhoods lets see how they like waiting for the police to show up while one is getting whipped and the other gangbanged.
Let us not forget what happened cr. 1963 in Cuba, when Fidel Castro disarmed all citizens... although the number of victims is not as high as those countries shown in the video, the numbers are still unknown since he is still in power.
It's true, gun control absolutely works. It works for criminals. It works for rapists, murderers, gangs, thugs, moral degenerates, and any other person who wish to inflict harm on others. Oh yeah, and it also works for tyrannical governments. Just because someone owns a firearm, doesn't mean they are going to kill someone. I will never give up my guns. Even if hell did freeze over. Women, children, minorities, and any other person who has ever been persecuted should know better.
Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the world. All citizens ages 20-55 are issued eithr a Sig 550 or 510 fully auto assault rifle with ammo. Officers, medical personell, and postal workers are issued a Sig P220.
Japan refused to invade the US during WWII because the of people having guns.
"A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained in arms, is the best most natural defense of a free country." James Madison
"Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the world" - NOT TRUE. It has a similar crime rate to the rest of Europe and a much higher gun murder rate
"All citizens ages 20-55 are issued.." NOT TRUE. These are military weapons owned by the Swiss National Guard. Soldiers are allowed t keep them at home. Ammo is kept in a seperate army arsenal.
"Japan refused to invade the US..."
NOT TRUE - The USA was simply too big and too far away to invade
I don't know where you get your info from, but the murder rate in switzerland IS the lowest in the world at 2.2 where as Honduras is at 58 which has strict gun laws.
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto - You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.
Quoting the experts reinforces my position
Hitler,Stalin, and many other dictators implemented gun control before the genocide of millions of disarmed defenceless people.
Your original claim was about crime, not just murder - however the 7th UN survey of crime trends puts Switzerland pretty far from the bottom for murder - and just below Ireland, which has extremely strict gun laws.
The Yamamoto quote is fallacious - do some research. Also he was a naval man, so how would he be an expert on land invasion?
There are plenty of other genocides that didn't encompass gun control - and btw Hitler actually made it easier for German civilians to own guns, not harder
if guns kill people, mattresses cause pregnancy. FROM MY COLD, GUNS SHOT RESIDUE COVERED HANDS. I obey the law. When it becomes illegal for me to defend myself, I will be a criminal.
Wow I didn't know Australia banned guns. (was planning on visiting someday, rethinking that now) That's just giving criminals freerun to do whatever they want. Takes a cop 10 minutes to get anywhere. (that's if the police can still carry guns).
I agree with you that it's the irresponsible person who kills with guns. I know because my family owns about 3 guns, but we don't shoot people. We shoot at clay disks that we make. So just because we own guns doesn't mean that we kill people.
They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. - John 16:2
Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly I never knew you, Away from me you evil doers! Matt. 7:22-23
I can't possibly judge you for the fact that Jesus does not support you guns. Jesus judges you, not me. Read the bible and learn what it really says, not what your Christian mafia preachers are telling you.
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. —Matthew 5:38-42, NIV
So Abraham is going to hell? So Moses is going to hell? So David is going to hell? So Samson is going to hell? So Simon Peter is going to hell? And Jesus is going to hell???
hmmmmmmm something doesn't add up to your belief system. If this is your faith, than I want nothing to do with it. Because as far as I'm concerned, these were righteous men that God appointed. God says they are in heaven. And you say they are not...
I haven't removed any comments off my page... I believe in 100% freedom of speech, even the kind that is riddled with ignorance and lacks support, such as your own. Feel free to comment on my page, marsxpander.... The truth only hurts to those that block other people's commentary, such as in the case you have done to me. Coward!
He sure as hell is. That's how you maintain order and keep the evil criminals at bay. If he was alive today he would arm every citizen. The gun isn't the problem stupidity is. What you posted has no relevance. Noone is talking about killing people. Having a loaded gun is a deterrent. Would you try to rob somebody for 100$ if they had a gun? probably not.
Can someone tell me when this Australian gun ban was meant to be?? The last buy back I remember was in 1996!!! I havent handed in any guns since, I live in Queensland Australia.
"heard" = in a court of law, hearsay, not admissible. don't rely on what you hear. educate ur self. research what you've "heard" even from reliable sources. even ted kopple got this one wrong about george bush.
Definition of citizen: a duty of protection for a duty of alligence...If the supreme court can rule that " a officer has a duty to protect no one but himself" then why am I supposed to blindly give my respectful alligence? So he can exercise his right to use deadly force?Bureaucrats have rights, the public has privleges...they aren't rights if someone can take them away!!!!!
That's how the nazi's fully came to fruition and exterminated the competition. In the US it would be no different. We are already fucked up can you imagine what would happen to the country if everyone was forced to turn in our guns? The government would go even crazier than it is now and the criminals would have a free for all.
after watching this video i feel better about dropping a $1000 dollars on and m1 garand plus a few hundred rounds of ammo. and i still have a gun show this weekend. shit i may just go broke but who cares. if nothing comes of it i will have plenty to go to the range with.
They should know if they ban guns, it's just gonna be the "cool" thing to get a gun. Look at what happened in the progressive era when alcohol was banned, look at how many people smoke pot even if it's "illegal". Guns are no different.,
Its to late Obama is gonna take the guns, and we are losing our freedoms its cool. Just everyone go back to bed. Dont worry about the FEMA Camps, or Georiga GuideStones, or Avian Flu or Food Codex...Just let them kill you and say thank you before the end...Apathy is a beautiful thing, turns men into cowards.
Hey jagged85, look at the facts. Uk and japan? UK has the HIGHEST MURDER RATE of any industrialized nation. Even Barbara Walters did a story on it. Don't beleive me go there yourself. In Britain its illegal to defend yourself because its the criminals right to do this too you. Again, call a lawyer in Britan. Japan has a higher murder rate than the US. Outlawing guns has not made any country safer. Every woman on Earth is equiped to be a prostitute, doesn't mean they all are.....what a tool.
Look to the past to see the leaders who supported gun control. Real good guys like Hitler and Stalin. Real gun control is using both hands. Even if Obama tries to make concealed carry illegal, I will still carry. The safety of my family is more important to me than breaking the law.
Gun control may not have worked in those countries mentioned in the video, but it certainly has worked in other countries such as the UK and Japan, where crime rates are much lower than America.
America currently enjoys the lowest crime rates it has seen since before the American Revolution. There is no reason to be afraid of crime in our country. The only thing is anti-gun propaganda. OUr governments want subjects not citizens.
As a Brit, I never really quite understood the whole American 'gun culture' thing, but I assume it has something to do with empowering the people?
Gun control is okay for countries that don't have a 'gun culture' (like the UK and Japan as I already mentioned), as there's nothing to lose. But if a country already has a 'gun culture' (like America or Australia), then there is likely going to be a backlash if gun control is implemented.
Its fairly simple logic we use, so simple your gunna slap yourself for not thinking of it. You got the main part, power to the people.
What it is is this, America was founded on a revolution. We broke away from our mother country for our own needs. When we established our constitution the fear of a new government ruining all we worked for was all to real, so we made the 2nd amendment. We make the govenment surve us through fear and view them unarming us as a threat to our other freedoms.
and the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves from criminals. Of course, the ability of the population to take back their country from the government would be no different...

Hell, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in WWII said that he was scared of invading the US because he said, and I quote: "There will be a rifle behind every blade of grass." Fact of the matter is, in Florida where I live for instance, crime is lower because criminals know that people are able to carry legally. Not only that, but people should have the right to protect themselves from anything.
The Japanese said something like this " we would not attack America because behind every blade of grass is a rifle"
An extremely low number of crimes are from people who legally obtained a firearm. In every single country that still has banned guns, the crime rates went

In 1996, in the wake of a mass shooting, the Australian government seized more than 640,000 guns from its citizens. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in the next two years, armed robbery rose by 73%, unarmed robbery by 28%, kidnapping by 38%, assault by 17% and manslaughter by 29%.
siradon2000 1 year ago
According to the U.S. Justice Department Bureau of Justice Statistics, although the rates of murder and rape are higher in the U.S., England has surpassed us in its rate of robberies, assaults, burglaries and motor vehicle thefts. And the English crime rate has been rising while the U.S. rate has been falling. In 1998 the mugging rate in England was 40% higher than in the U.S., furthermore, assault and burglary rates were nearly 100% higher in England than in the United States.
siradon2000 1 year ago
If gun control goes down in the USA there will be civil war as well. You would have a divison of individual states not willing to comply. Members of the military would also refuse to obey unlawful orders. There would be violent stand offs all over America with hundreds of thousands of killed and wounded. Entire city blocks would be sealed off for weeks at a time. The media would be controlled with no coverage. This would be the first step toward tyranny. Fight againest gun control now!

So why didn't that happen after Katrina?
700 guns seized. No instances of armed resistance.
billburns2 2 years ago
The reason that didn't happen after Katrina is the same reason people allowed themselves to be taken to concentration camps in Germany during WW2, the same reason they didn't rush the guards. Most people thought that the Government was there to help them, those that thought otherwise were more afraid of losing their lives. Fear, and the conception that they're good people looking out for us. How safe were those people that had stayed after the troops left them unarmed from looters though?
siradon2000 2 years ago
No the people didnt care in Katrina because they were all black and probably stole all the guns in the first place.

People lack the courage, and are also fearful of any other consequences that may come to bear if they aren't killed. "All human situations have their inconveniences.

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44%. In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

AH - the mythical Ed Chenel writing in 1997
"homicides are up 3.2 percent"
The population of Australia increased by 3.8 % over that time so the rate had DECLINED
"homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent"
Gun homicides in Victoria numbered 7 (count 'em) in 1996 and 19 in 1997 - the year of the gun ban. That's an increase of 171%, not 300%. Victoria has about the same population as Louisiana. Louisiana had 303 gun homicides in the same period
Get your facts in context, son.
billburns2 2 years ago
Do a search for "John Stossel Links Gun Control to Higher Crime Rates" here on youtube. It's a "20/20" piece done on how Washington DC did with its ban on all firearms. The fact that violent crime increased or stayed at the same level, even though the rest of the united States had a decline of violent crime. The fact remains taking firearms away from law abiding people only makes them easy targets for criminals.
siradon2000 2 years ago
You may want to note the density of the population in Victoria vs the Density of population in Louisiana. I'd put money that most of the "gun homicides" in Louisiana were mostly in densely populated areas, where gangs have a tendency to thrive. Places like New Orleans maybe? Then there is the factor of how strict are the laws here vs there. Most places in the united States you don't have to worry about the death penalty anymore. Cultural differences, etc. should all be considered factors, yet...

"I'd rather die a free man that to live as a slave" That goes for most people who truly strive to remain free. Freedom is maintained by the multiple factors. Firearms are our liberty teeth. To ensure that our rights are honored. They are a tool to maintain our freedom, and nothing less.

Quotes are not a substitute for argument. It's just lazy thinking.
Why not post your own opinions instead of someone else's?
billburns2 2 years ago
It was really a long reply to someone else attempting to misuse Thomas Jefferson's quote. So I figured I'd give an example of some of his other quotes. The Man thought there should be a revolution every time the government encroached on any rights. Which especially includes the right to bear arms. Quite frankly in many instances I doubt I could say it much better. If you hadn't noticed, I did state my opinion. And just so you know, there really is no argument. We have the RIGHT to bear arms.
siradon2000 2 years ago
When the second article of the bill of rights was put into place it said this "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". It doesn't say we're supposed to be limited in any way, or in the selection of firearms. If the government wants to change it they can, but only with the support of the people. People know their history in this respect, and I doubt will ever fully relinquish that RIGHT
siradon2000 2 years ago
I figured seeing as how you have the notion that guns are bad, you might take the information provided by a liberal media source like ABC. I doubt you'd take my word for it, and any data I can obtain or find would be someone else's. The data is often skewed by whoever put it out anyway, due to the lack of objectivity. People usually lean one way or another on this subject. So how is that any better than stating quotes? Lazy thinking is putting stock in percentages and lying with numbers.
siradon2000 2 years ago
@siradon2000
Why not look at the raw data? It's easy enough to find. Basing your information on other people's interpretations is also lazy thinking.
And I don't have the notion that "guns are bad" - that's another conclusion you've jumped to without any proof.
All I'm saying is that the info in this video is seriously misleading and full of errors and omissions.
billburns2 2 years ago
Looking at the raw data as you put it can also be misleading. Looking at the number of people that died from firearms would include suicides, and cases of self defense. To state that all cases of crimes that have been avoided due to the ownership of a firearm have been reported would also be ignorant, the numbers simply aren't an accurate depiction. Your notion of lazy thinking seems to cover a broad spectrum. Is this video truly any more "misleading" than that of those who want "gun control"?
siradon2000 2 years ago
The fact is that guns do reduce crime simply by being able to show you have it. However your comment about "If that were true then the USA would be the safest place in the world with practically zero crime". Owning guns doesn't completely eliminate crime, harsher laws do. People shoot others in the head and are let out within 20 years some as early as 7 years after murdering people. That is why the murder rate here is higher, taking guns away from law abiding people will only increase crime.
siradon2000 2 years ago
Even the supreme court decided that the District of Columbia gun ban was bad, and finally conceded to the fact that it increased violent crimes (mugging/robbing, carjacking, murder etc.). Therefore deciding to allow people in the District of Columbia to own firearms again. The "raw data" as you put would conflict with your apparent idea of "lazy thinking" seeing as its data someone else gathered. Calling people lazy when you don't have an answer doesn't make your argument
siradon2000 2 years ago
Now I'm going to tell you my idea of lazy thinking. Lazy thinking is when a person follows another without verification of facts, when someone simply listens to another and considers the information they receive as infallible, when one doesn't seek knowledge past a classroom. That is lazy thinking. Having the ability to remember from memory quotations by some of the greatest thinkers in history from memory is not lazy, its a gift. Although words of another, quotes can help validate ones argument
siradon2000 2 years ago
"the DC gun ban...finally conceded to the fact that it increased violent crimes"
Wrong. It was deemed Unconstitutional. Anyone who cares to look at the raw data can see that the gun ban was not the cause of DCs problems.
"harsher laws eliminate crime"
Really? Any proof of that wild claim?
"Looking at the number of people that died from firearms would include suicides"
Wrong again. The raw data lists them seperately.
You STILL can't be bothered to look up the actual numbers, can you?
billburns2 2 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Actually after the Handgun ban in England the violent crime rate rose 40% within 6 years. I thought using quotations was no substitute for an argument and "lazy thinking". The "raw data" depends on where you get the "raw data". Places like "the disaster center", and "FBI" have dramatically different numbers for the same years. I notice you're quick to dismiss gun control as the problem, but you don't state what was to blame.
siradon2000 2 years ago
I do actually have proof of the claim that harsher laws eliminate crime. Ever heard of Count Vlad Dracula Tepes, or Vlad The Impaler? A mass murderer to be sure, but the punishment for breaking most crimes was death. He got the name Vlad Tepes (the impaler) because when people were put to death their head was places on a pike. Having such harsh laws he actually placed precious relics in the center of villages and people could pick them up, but they dare not take them in fear of death.
siradon2000 2 years ago
There are multiple instances in history where harsh laws equal less crime. If you have the fear of your own death or absolute imprisonment there is far less likelihood for people to commit murder due to true consequences. Where as it may not eliminate "crimes of passion" and people foolish enough to think they can get away with it. Those that think they can, will at least think a lot harder before doing it.

Oh yeah, and it also works for tyrannical governments. Just because someone owns a firearm, doesn't mean they are going to kill someone. I will never give up my guns. Even if hell did freeze over.

Quotations aren't a substitute for argument
billburns2 2 years ago
I don't know where you get your info from, but the murder rate in switzerland IS the lowest in the world at 2.2 where as Honduras is at 58 which has strict gun laws.
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto - You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.
Quoting the experts reinforces my position
Hitler,Stalin, and many other dictators implemented gun control before the genocide of millions of disarmed defenceless people.
kyowakokunobenkai 2 years ago

When it becomes illegal for me to defend myself, I will be a criminal.
stabbyronnie 2 years ago
Wow I didn't know Australia banned guns. (was planning on visiting someday, rethinking that now) That's just giving criminals freerun to do whatever they want. Takes a cop 10 minutes to get anywhere. (that's if the police can still carry guns).

The Apostiles carried swords on them....If they had rifles back then, they would have carried those instead

I agree with you that it's the irresponsible person who kills with guns. I know because my family owns about 3 guns, but we don't shoot people. We shoot at clay disks that we make. So just because we own guns doesn't mean that we kill people.

And now you judge people too!
Matt. 7:22-23
marsxpander 2 years ago
I can't possibly judge you for the fact that Jesus does not support you guns. Jesus judges you, not me. Read the bible and learn what it really says, not what your Christian mafia preachers are telling you.
quicksiliva 2 years ago
damn, you're still talking to me. I forgot about already. I've proved my point with scripture, you haven't, so just leave me alone will ya.
marsxpander 2 years ago
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. —Matthew 5:38-42, NIV
Jesus is not for guns

If you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and BUY ONE! -Luke 22:36
Back then people had swords. Today people have guns.
So if you don't have one, sell something and go buy one.
This way you have some type of physical way of protecting yourself and your loved ones.
So I wouldn't be too quick to say Jesus isn't for guns. He's against evil people having them.
marsxpander 2 years ago 2
Ok, so you can have a sword or a gun, but if you use it, you go to hell. Have a nice day
quicksiliva 2 years ago
So Abraham is going to hell? So Moses is going to hell? So David is going to hell? So Samson is going to hell? So Simon Peter is going to hell? And Jesus is going to hell???
hmmmmmmm something doesn't add up to your belief system. If this is your faith, than I want nothing to do with it. Because as far as I'm concerned, these were righteous men that God appointed. God says they are in heaven. And you say they are not...
I'm gonna have to go with God on this one. :)

Definition of citizen: a duty of protection for a duty of alligence...If the supreme court can rule that " a officer has a duty to protect no one but himself" then why am I supposed to blindly give my respectful alligence? So he can exercise his right to use deadly force?Bureaucrats have rights, the public has privleges...they aren't rights if someone can take them away!!!!!
iamgangelo 2 years ago 2
I think the recent facts are relevant, but I don't like how you used oppressive regimes such as Nazi Germany and put it down to gun control...
Good point, though. Just try not to generalise too much.
Those facts about Australian gun control were convincing enough, being Australian myself but having no knowledge of those figures.
merrett 3 years ago
Why that's what gun control is and who uses it just accept it.
Nuclearwarhead357 2 years ago
That's how the nazi's fully came to fruition and exterminated the competition. In the US it would be no different. We are already fucked up can you imagine what would happen to the country if everyone was forced to turn in our guns? The government would go even crazier than it is now and the criminals would have a free for all.

They should know if they ban guns, it's just gonna be the "cool" thing to get a gun. Look at what happened in the progressive era when alcohol was banned, look at how many people smoke pot even if it's "illegal". Guns are no different.,

Blow up a building and then send the media a message saying that we call ourselves NWO and we blew up this building.
Then when the NWO rises up people will already think they are bad.

CSAroughneck 3 years ago
Look to the past to see the leaders who supported gun control. Real good guys like Hitler and Stalin. Real gun control is using both hands. Even if Obama tries to make concealed carry illegal, I will still carry. The safety of my family is more important to me than breaking the law.
xrmongoose 3 years ago

Obama and the feds have no authority over concealed carry. That is a state decision.

Gun control may not have worked in those countries mentioned in the video, but it certainly has worked in other countries such as the UK and Japan, where crime rates are much lower than America.
Jagged85 3 years ago
America currently enjoys the lowest crime rates it has seen since before the American Revolution. There is no reason to be afraid of crime in our country. The only thing is anti-gun propaganda. OUr governments want subjects not citizens.
metalfan182 3 years ago
As a Brit, I never really quite understood the whole American 'gun culture' thing, but I assume it has something to do with empowering the people?
Gun control is okay for countries that don't have a 'gun culture' (like the UK and Japan as I already mentioned), as there's nothing to lose. But if a country already has a 'gun culture' (like America or Australia), then there is likely going to be a backlash if gun control is implemented.
Jagged85 3 years ago
Its fairly simple logic we use, so simple your gunna slap yourself for not thinking of it. You got the main part, power to the people.
What it is is this, America was founded on a revolution. We broke away from our mother country for our own needs. When we established our constitution the fear of a new government ruining all we worked for was all to real, so we made the 2nd amendment. We make the govenment surve us through fear and view them unarming us as a threat to our other freedoms.
metalfan182 3 years ago
Jagged85. They should also ban pencils that would cut down and eliminate spelling errors.
jpace4revolution 3 years ago
I was only pointing out the fact that the UK and Japan (where guns are banned) have lower crime rates than the US (where guns are legal).
I guess the truth must be too difficult to handle for some people here.
Jagged85 3 years ago
Look closer. The UK has always had lower crime rates than the US. The gun control legislation did not reduce the UKs crime figures.
The UK gun laws were hurried legislation that led to more gun crime than before.
The UK has increasing violent crime.
Take a look at Switzland/Norway/Sweden. Lots of gun low gun crime?
In short gun laws have very little impact on anything except the right for a population to overthrow the government.
ajmoir 3 years ago 2
and the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves from criminals. Of course, the ability of the population to take back their country from the government would be no different...
JaminKoehn 3 years ago 2
Yeah but we also have more people then both Countries US pop 302 mill
UK 61 mill Japan 135 mill. At least get all the facts together.Of course we have more crime we have about 100 mill more people.
