  • Omg. Ilana is sooo pretty. I'm naturally thin, but I think curves are so much better. You have a naturally beautiful face too. Lucky.   • ok, why not just cut a hamburger in half, and throw the rest out. then run like a mile a day. and be fit and eat right. it's not a diet anymore, it's a lifestyle change.

  • Some people have a slow metabolism and may not lose any weight even with intense dieting and exercise. Haven't you ever met a person who barely ate anything, yet looked overweight? Or haven't you met a stick thin person who eats everything? Weight has A LOT to do with genetics.

  • Sure, genetics can influence metabolism, but diet and exercise also do so. It's physically impossible not to lose weight by increasing physical activity and decreasing caloric intake- some people may respond better, but everyone loses weight. Physical activity requires energy, and that extra energy must come from somewhere.

  • Genetics play a HUGE role in metabolism--more so than exercise and dieting. If you have a dysfunctional thyroid, then no amount of exercise would change that. If you have a high or low metabolism, exercise and dieting are not going to drastically change that. For me, I'm at the same weight no matter how much I eat or don't eat, exercise or don't exercise. Always been 100 lbs. Always. It's about the efficiency of energy utilization, not just inputting energy.

  • It is true that genetics play a big role in metabolism. The trick happens in the lifestyle habits that go along with the genetics. A little bit more movement everyday, say 1/2 mile more walking, (1,000 steps) which is estimated to be about 50 Calories burned. Over a year would be 5 pounds of weight loss. Over 10 years it would be 50 pounds of weight loss. This extra little bit is often not figured into calorie amounts and can seem like genetics.

  • From my experience people with weight problems don't know how to either exercise or eat properly or worse both. she isn't a fat cow but the diet they suggested is great because its healthier than just eating smaller portions and will allow her to exercise properly.

  • You're going to be glad you incorporated both weight training and cardio. Weight training helps so much with weight loss. JUST you can't play with the pink 5lb dumbbells and hope for results. You have to lift a "difficult" amount of weight. You will see faster results then, your body will transform in 6 months with a good weight lifting regime AND diet. Light weights = waste of time. I wonder what the macro-nutrient ratios are for your nutri-crap diet.
