thanks for posting this. I find it magically beautiful. With some websearching I found the CD/DVD 'Rosa i Botnen' with this song on it. The album is a gem and has not left my CD-player for weeks.
As the title says, it is a 1670 Hardanger fiddle. It was given to Benedicte right out of a museum showcase. The idea being that modern top drawer musicians should have access to the best instruments. Having Benedicte play this 1670 Hardanger fiddle is the equivalent of a Stradivarius violin being played by someone like Itzhak Perlman.
beautiful performance, it's worth mentioning that she is using a baroque style bow, something many violinists never get the chance to see or hear for that matter. thanks for uploading!
Love the sound of that thing!...where can I get one?

Is the Fiddle really from 1670? Looks like a Isak Trondsen and then it is from the 18th century.

Touches my Minnesota soul. It's the music of dark winter longings.

what happend to the bow

it is a short baroque bow, which was what they used in 1670. If you use a period fiddle, you'd better also use a period bow. :-)

@fiddlereliz Except that Itzhak Perlman knows not to touch old varnish with his fingers as sweat and oils are corrosive.

@moldyoreo
What a joyless scold.
I bet your handbag smells of coughdrops and mothballs, too.
